Wow thanks so much, it's very cool to hear that said. I'm really new to the video making part of it all, so hopefully we keep getting better from here and grow as well!
Do you have a lavtop? There’s a free program called Krita and it’s basically like photoshop but free! It even has frame by frame animation! But it’s only on pc though 😅
@@artsyhufflepuffer1748 ok so I've been using krita for a while now but I still dont know this. Does it have all all tools mentioned in the video? And can you set layers to overlay?
@Ro 3D Puppetteer it's.. ok? Not for painting. Line art can be done, but it's vector based and drawing on it is so different from other apps that it's gained a reputation for being frustrating. It's designed and aimed at logo creation and vector based artwork and illustrations.
Here are some outline tips... 1. Confident lines; use one brush stroke instead of going over one line multiple times. Use your whole arm for long lines, since your wrist cant reach as far. Also remember to zoom in for quick lines. Its important to know that it's ok to undo that line, it will take multiple try until your satisfied. Just make sure your lines are fast and strong. 2. Value of lines; make some line thicker than others. For example, for small details lines should be thinner, and the outline of the object should be bold. Also remember about distance, the far that an object is the thinner the lines are, since that object is far it will be more difficult to see it. And he closer an object is the more bold/thick the lines are. Basically we as artist are introducing a mass of particles between the artist view and the object. 3. Fades; you can use lines that are but fuzzier for lines that aren't that clear. Its kind of like this */////*. This line represent lines that are being faded. Kind of like shadows. (This one will be a bit hard to learn since, it needs a sufficient understanding of value.) Hope this helps 😊
Great tips!! BTW you can liquify mutiple layers, just make a copy of all visible, liquify the fixes in there, then on the same selection in all the layers cntrl+F reapplies the same liquify, so you can still use liquify before having everything only in a single layer, its a blessin
My mannnn you so should, I actually found all my copics from high school the other day hahah they're pretty beat up but I wanna give them a try Yeah boi respect, appreciate the comment too

A tip to liquify: you can apply it to multiple layers! You do your liquify on one of your layers, then select the next layer and pres Alt+ctrl+F or the first option in the filters tab, which will repeat the last filter you applied on your current layer! (but it only works if you do it directly after using the liquify obviously.)

What my drawing teacher tells us to do: If you are just making the outline of the posing or blocking out the model, don't be tedious. It's okay for it to be messy, it'll help you further as your brain recognize what's right and what's wrong. I didn't believe him at first but after taking his class, it really did help! Edit: Another thing that was kind of encouraged but not to over do is reflective light. Even the skin is reflective to light and then there is illusionary light. It just means light that you or a person can realistically see in real life. Just don't over do illusionary light or you are making another light source from a fake viewpoint!
@@ChibiHuey well, you know the direct light source that points toward the object or person? The light reflects off of it, but then there is a shadow after the light. In the shadow, there can be illusion of light. It happens every where, helping us humans to understand things in a real life 3D space. Without it, it would seem more of a 2D space than 3D. TIP: Changing the blending modes of brushes in Photoshop. You can use color dodge for a similar effect to the dodge tool, multiply to darken areas, screen to lighten... There are a lot of cool things you can do, and it helps with making coloring easier.
this video assumes that you work in photoshop, I don't think that there is a dodge tool equivalent in krita (that is my program of choice, I am still a student, -and without a job-) so that tip is rendered useless, from my knowledge. Otherwise, this is fairly useful! AND i love the editing too!

I'm pretty much brand new with digital art. Just upgraded from a digital sketch pad to a pen display, so looking forward to that arriving. I've found what works great for me in terms of shading is using the dodge/burn tool (burn doing the opposite from dodge) to just get the different lighter or darker shades of the color I'm working on, then pick that up on the brush and using that to actually color in the lighter or darker areas. That stops me from accidentally hitting the same area that I just dodged twice, causing an overlap that is even lighter, and just looks horrible. This might be a dumb way of doing it, I don't know. As I mentioned, I'm completely new with this so I'm open to suggestions and tips, but I thought I'd just mention what is currently working for me...
