I buy all of my ammo online, in bulk. Never had to pay hazmat fee.
Must be lucky. Every time I do they want to charge me for it. Thanks for watching.
Just did a similar test for my first trip to the range with the gen 2. 225 shots and no failures at all.
-Fed Champ is really nasty ammo but it fired. Their Automatch ran great and is what I plan to bulk up on.
-Remington Thunderbolts had the most perceptible increase in recoil and was smoky enough to obscure sight. Don’t plan on trying golden as I’ve always heard it’s dirty and unreliable.
-CCI mini mags(HPs), Quiet, Subsonic, Blazers, and Standard were all good. I’d go mini-mags if using for defense.
Aguila was also fine. I got a box of Super Extra and Standard before realizing it’s the same ammo, lol.
@@illwindbl0ws thanks for watching.
Just bought one and this is the best comment I’ve seen so far. Thank you
The taurus tx22 rocks! It goes everywhere I go on the farm. Never fails
It’s my favorite 22 pistol. Thanks for watching.
@@jesseboutdoors I really want a Keltec p17
@titusandrew946 I have a video on the P17.
I always buy federal bulk to plink or cci standards. Cci subs when running a suppressor.
All of those are good ammo. Thanks for watching.
I have the TX22 Competition and have tried several different kinds of ammo as well without failure. From the bulk ammo to the expensive stuff and all non issue. Love it!
It’s a great gun.
Serve para a defesa pessoal
Mine is picky. It’s sucks!
It does shoot bulk tho
Thanks for sharing brother. Love my TX22
It’s a great gun. Thanks for watching.
This thing is a failure to feed machine for me, but watching your vid has me convinced its my ammo. I cleaned my mags like a mad man. Getting federal ammo tonight and others and see how it works tomorrow
Mine had always hated Winchester and Remington. We just had it out today. My brother put some of his Winchester super x in it today and had issues. Thanks for watching.
@@jesseboutdoors I got a box of feds and the bullets didn't spin in the casing, and I had no issues feeding!
I did get leaded hollow points
You're dead on. Does the only bullet I've ever had issues with not out my TX but other 22s. Great video dude. Precise into the point! That's good content
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Good and interesting video. Thanks for the time you put in to make this video. Take care.
Thanks for watching 👍
Great video. Love my TX22! It eats everything including Thunderbolts!
It’s a great gun. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video man---thank you!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
10 out of 10! Perfect presentation and content and didn't waste a femtosecond doing it!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Wish I had of bought 2 ....awsome fun 22 plinking.
They are great guns. Thanks for watching 👊🇺🇸
Thanks!
Thanks for watching
Good test Jess
Thanks 👍
Those little taurus TX will run about anything you put though. Them. One great little 22 pistol. Really enjoy shooting the one I have. Good review my friend enjoy it
It’s my favorite 22 pistol.
For reliability , I rate CCI at the top and Remington at the bottom .
I would have to agree with you.
Yesterday I ran 400 painful rounds of the Aquila jacketed through my TX SCR. Jammed about every 10 rounds or so with five different mags and a clean gun. Bought it because it was cheap and I got exactly what I paid for!
Thank sucks. Thanks for watching.
Try locking the slide back overnight before you go to the range. Simple, but it worked on mine.
Definitely no surprise with those 2 and malfunctions.👍👍
Not surprised at all 👍
I been buying up some auto match as well. Works good
Great plinking ammo 👍
The only Taurus I was ever excited to buy, was going to do the same thing but with weird old ammo.
BTW , you did a really nice job on the vid itself. 👍
Thank you 👍
Morning Jesse!!
Morning CW
That's good to hear the Fed
Autos work good. I'll have to yry them out They're only about $20 a box at walmart.
I usually run them cause there cheap.
Ive been shooting 22lr lately.. the winchester 333 box and the bucket o bullets run 100% out of riger mkiv and glock 44.. i bought a few more buckets.. i might go shoot out of another bucket to check.. i have some Winchester on the way due to no issues out of current box.. the only issue i had was with aguila ammo.. occasion stove pipe.. oh and eley wasn't great either
Thanks for watching.
I really like the TX22 but mine has a lot of problems running Federal automatch. CCI Minimag and Aguila super extra high velocity have worked great in it.
It’s a fun gun.
Federal automatch made in the last few years is known to have extremely poor reliability
Yes I had some pre 2020 boxes that ran great. The new stuff not so much.
Same here
I’ve had issue running certain ammo out of my tx22 aswell. Doesn’t even like punch which I’ve heard nothing but good things about.
Doesn’t like super high velocity and it doesn’t like low velocity
I can't get any of my semi autos to cycle with Remington golden bullets, I save those for my revolvers and pump action
I usually have a issue here and there with goldens. Thunderbolts I alway had issues with.
Remington golden bullet works well in almost every 22 I have (8) it doesn’t extract reliably from my savage bolt, but is extremely accurate from it (bummer).
I have a TX22 with both the standard and competition uppers. As long as the magazines are loaded one at a time, I never have a loading malfunction. You can get malfunctions if you dump a bunch of rounds in at one time, which is caused by "rimlock", where the rim of the top round falls behind the rim of the round below it. At 25 yards, I'm benchresting 3 inch groups with the standard upper, only because the iron sights are so course. With the competition upper, the gun produces 1 inch groups with a Holosun 2moa red dot mounted on it. Both results are done with Aguila Super Extra 40 grain ammunition. I use both uppers in competition shoots and they never disappoint me.
Yep I load my magazines one at a time just like any other handgun magazine. Thanks for watching 👍
@alan I've found I always have issues when I use the loader that comes with the gun. But yeah, one at a time seems best and honestly isn't that bad
Thank you!! My wife got a Compact about a month ago and I loved it so much that I went back and bought a Competition last week. I'm our first trip with the Compact we had two failures on the second and third round, but after than ran though 300 rounds without a hitch! Then trip 2 we had several where it wouldn't strip a round off the magazine all day long. After reading your post, I realized the difference was we were more comfortable with loading mags "faster" by pulling the spring down and loading up 3 or 4 at a time. Yesterday's range trip was the same way. I even switched from my cheap Norma TAC-22 to Mini-Mags thinking it just didn't have enough power to fully cycle. It seemed better but still had a couple stoppages in the Compact AND Competition.
Thank you again! I'm excited to get back out and try loading CORRECTLY and see if it improves.
Glad to help and thanks for watching.
Try cleaning and dry waxing magazines, dremel polish feed ramp, 2 of my 5 magazines had issues loading. Also ran higher velocity bullets in them...All of this seemed to help @@slonlo364
I definitely prefer CCI stingers for mine it seems to prefer it too 😊
The stingers have some power to them. Thanks for watching.
PS. I found that Federal blue box 36 grain hollow point pretty much runs in anything
The red box of federal is the same as the new blue box.
The winchester white box is the only ammo I really had any issues with
I really don’t like Winchester white box in any caliber. Thanks for watching.
Good video!
Thank you and thanks for watching. I have more videos on this gun and more to come on it 👍
@@jesseboutdoors I have issues with all 3of my tx 22's I bought them 4 months ago or so from sportsman's warehouse. They're Keying holing every shot at 5 yards. I cleaned all the lead out of the barrel but haven't been back to the range yet. I'll try and let you know the outcome.
Thanks William
@@williammoore6952 that sucks. I’ve had mine for over a year. The only issues I’ve ever had you saw in this video.
That ran better than I thought but sill not as good as my M&P compact 22😁. I've got a video up running through a 333 box of Winchester. Other video running through 8 different brands if anyone is interested. 👍
I’ve never shot a M&P 22. They look to be nice guns.
@@jesseboutdoors I don't have any complaints about mine besides 10 round magazines. But unfortunately NY has a 10 round limit 😕
That’s why I like the Taurus. I like the 16 round mags. Those where the first malfunctions I’ve ever had with this gun. But like I said I usually run just federal bulk box stuff.
Good morning my friend.
Morning Al
Looks legit to me 🥊💥
Thanks for watching.
Man, I need to get a TX22. My brand new Buck Mark is so damn pickY with ammo. I might need to break it in first.
These are fun guns. Thanks for watching 👍
LOVE my TX-22 and I see you got it in the FDE finish that I chose, too! Did you have any issues getting the slide off for cleaning? When I first got the gun I had the worst time breaking it down to clean it. Had to smack the life outta the slide while holding down the release clamps, but it did break down as it's supposed to. I put a few drops of lube around the barrel and it's fine now, but at first it was maddening
Never had a take down issue. Thanks for watching and I do have more videos on this gun.
@@jesseboutdoors Yes, I spent any of my free time yesterday watching those videos 🤣🤣 Good stuff- thanks for the content!!
I love my TX22 competition and I honestly don't think you can buy a more reliable 22 pistol
I ended up selling my Ruger Mark III 22/45 after I bought this.
Those WIN Silver Tips looked like it out off some dirty smoke.
My experience with Winchester is that it’s never been the greatest ammo. Thanks for watching.
Nice 22 pistol. I might need to pick one up asap
It’s my favorite 22 pistol.
@@jesseboutdoors have you tried punch or yellow jackets in it yet?
I have yet to see federal punch sold anywhere by me. I haven’t seen yellow jackets in years.
@@jesseboutdoors I’m very sorry to hear you haven’t seen any punch sold near you. So far it’s an amazing rifle round believe it or not. I’ve done a fair bit of testing with it from rifles on my channel. It’s pretty good pistol round too. Yellow jackets are scarce in my part of PA. I have about half a brick of them left over from the early 2000s.
@@jesseboutdoors By the way I just shared this with a bunch of my friends. It’s a great video and demonstrates how good the pistol is.
Nice vid. I don't have any experience with 22s but it seems foolish if I don't have at least one in the arsenal. Which of these is preferred to be viable for stopping the threat? Do they have risk of passing through intended target?
For carry I would use CCI Stinger’s or CCI mini mags. I heard the federal punch is good but I haven’t seen any by me to buy. Thanks for watching 👍
With 17 rounds I bet they at least run the opposite direction.lol
I’ve had feed issues with federal punch flat nose. Seems like the flat nose shape gets jammed trying to go up the feed ramp. Out of 100 rounds I had feed issues with 7 rounds.
I haven’t tried those yet. Thanks for watching.
Could you try federal punch next time
This gun is no longer stock. If I think about it I might pick some up. Thanks for watching.
Mine is picky.
But it likes golden
Thanks for watching.
Can you please try this with a Glock G44 in the exact same scenario? I have the Taurus TX22 and it runs everything I put in it but the Glock G44 not so much with the Remington golden bullet. Just curious to see what it likes outside of CCI which are the same price as center fire rounds.
Sorry I don’t own a Glock 44. Thanks for watching.
@@jesseboutdoors no worries, this is just a simple but very good test that’s very informative for one looking to find the most reliable .22 pistol/ammo
If the round doesn't feed properly then it likely won't ever fire as a result of the miss feed.
I’ve had plenty of rounds miss feed and fire when put back in. A miss feed has nothing to do with it going off. The only thing a miss feed might do is damage the bullet or set it back into the brass. If that happens then you toss it. Thanks for watching.
Compared to most .22lr pistols the Taurus is near the top in terms of eating ammo good and bad. A lot of .22s are finicky. Taurus is a love/hate brand but Id put the TX-22 up against any other semi-auto from the mainstream competition and its gonna come in at a cheaper price. And dont even mention the Kel-Tec. That thing is a Hasbro toy compared to the TX-22.
It’s my favorite 22. Thanks for watching.
Just don’t use the Federal AutoMatch 40 grain rounds. Today I had with a single 325 u box at least 14 failures of all kind. It’s trash.
Thanks for watching.
Man iv looked that that 22 a ton of times
It’s my favorite 22 pistol.
You need to get it
Hey, fairly new firearm owner here, just curious on your opinion on this firearm after owning it for so long? I am in the market for one of these and the store owner told me to use a specific ammo the same price as 9mm ammo I use for my Glock, in your opinion does it matter what ammo I may use in the TX-22 compact?
Are you talking range ammo or carry ammo?
@@jesseboutdoors Mainly range ammo, however, what would you suggests for both?
@@soyouveheard2851 my gun eats about everything. With that said every gun is different. Best thing is to do is buy different rounds and try them. For carry sounds like federal punch is good. I would buy a few boxes and make sure your gun cycles them.
@@jesseboutdoors Will do, I figured I’d try CCI mini mags because that’s what a lot of guys like on their TX-22 or any semi-automatic handguns that are chambered in 22.
@@jesseboutdoors Also, how many rounds have you went through on your TX-22? Any hiccups or malfunctions?
That Winchester white box is pure s*** though I'm definitely curious to see
I’m not a Winchester fan in any caliber.
Are all those copper or lead tip
Mine will only shoot copper tip but not lead tip
Both. Thanks for watching.
I dont think ive ever seen a 22 not work with mini mags
Pretty much all cci ammo works good. Thanks for watching.
Ive had more weak peuny loads from remington than any other, never buy Winchester
I usually stay away from Remington and Winchester in 22 also. If I need a reliable or hunting round I use cci. For plinking I usually use federal. Thanks for watching 👍
Feed her right and she will keep eating good video!
Yep 👍
@@jesseboutdoors They have a fantastic trigger.
@@keithgregory7937 this gun is about to get some upgrades I got in from Tandemkross.
WWB is some junk ammo for sure. Aguila hasn’t had a malfunction.
Thanks for watching.
Winchester ammo sucks.
Pretty much. Thanks for watching.
I haven't seen this video yet but if every single one of those does not function you got something wrong with your pistol. Mine eats is it all 🫳✨
Nothing wrong with the gun in this video.
