Although this vid is old, without it I'd still just be thinking about installing speakers. I went with a Bluetooth amp rather than a full head unit but the tip about moving the electronics out of the way was a lifesaver👍
Great video Sandy! Very detailed and informative! I like when you guys from up North can poke fun at your accents "kawfee", that is hilarious! I am riding a 2019 Street Glide Special in Industrial Gray Denim. Keep the videos coming.
Great video man. I watched the fathead video as welI and This video made a lot more sense to me. just bought a 2019 Electra glide standard yesterday. Subscribed
Hey Sandy your video is a lot more helpful than the people over at Fat Head....I too have the 2020 Electra Glide Standard (FLHT)...I'm in the process of making it my own, little by little...so far I have the Passing lamps, saddle bag guards, heel toe shifter, converted my rear turn signals to running and brake lights, and turn signals, and added a set of Rinehart slip-ons..next I think I'm going to do the stage one, and maybe followed it with this really nice system that you added to your FLHT in this video...Sandy, continue doing how to's, your a natural born instructor....Excellent job.👍
Nice video Sandy! I have a 2019 Electra Glide Standard and I put in the Sony 5000 from fathead, I love it. Hope you enjoy your new setup, keep the videos coming!
Nice video. I installed the Sony 5000 on my 2019 EG Standard from Fathead Cycles. A bit of advise, make sure to wrap the SWC and Interface boxes in plastic or waterproof tape. If any water gets inside of these like from washing your bike, the stereo will act up and you will get error codes on your bike. Trust me, it happened to me. I washed my bike and water got into both boxes because I took the plastic off when I installed the system. This caused about 5 different error codes to pop up. Once I got them dried out the problem was solved. I hope this avoids you a major headache in the future.
Great video put in my 19 standard, throwing codes like crazy. Clear them and still return repeatedly. Fat head sent new harness, didn’t resolve problem. They sent entire new radio maybe install this weekend. All u codes which is communication everything works. Any advise?
I can confirm, gentleman is correct, I had a heck of a time removing the 3 per side, 3/16" allen head bolts. Finally after about two hours, removed all 6 of them. I did not remove the tray screws / christmas trees and slide the tray sideways, I just didn't want to mess with any more of those christmas tree fasteners - sure they work fine, but I absolutely hate removing them, real easy to destroy on the removal. Thinking it thru though, to reinstall the speaker pods with those 6 total 3/16" bolts, I will do as the gentleman recommends, remove those two screws and christmas trees, and slide the tray to one side then after those bolts are in, slide the tray back the other way to put the other side bolts in. Radio install went in very quickly no problem, those speaker pods are a real pain though. I will not mess with those speaker pods again. ? Sandy, on the clutch side speaker pod there is one larger plug that was fastened with a christmas tree, and one smaller plug also fastened (not a typical christmas tree) in some way to the speaker pod, not sure how to remove this fastener, with out breaking it that is. How did you remove that small plug from the clutch side speaker pod? Thanks for the great video!
Hey Elvis - the truth is I’ve done the install a long time ago and I don’t really remember that specific problem.... Glad you’re all done anyway...👍🏻💪🏻
Hey Sandy. Nice ride Brother! I bought the exact bike and did the exact radio install. Great minds think alike! Enjoy your ride. I love mine and really like the apple car play. Fathead cycle made it easy.but you’re right, you need to be patient and everything worked great.
I have the same bike. Wished you would’ve shown plugging the radio together to the bike. Do you have a link to the kit you used to put on the bike? I can’t find the radio kit you used. Thanks
HD - hundreds of Dollars 👍🏻 😆 LOL 👍🏻-... yeah that’s the plan - to do pipes too. Need some time to get the wife to cool down every time I write another check ! Haha
Tito R. Haha... believe it or not - but if I leave the music running- TH-cam doesn’t pay me because I’m using other people’s music . That’s why I can’t play any music unless it’s copyright free
Ken Taylor thanks buddy. Yeah I’m planning on getting a backrest - thing is I don’t really know what can work nicely with a solo seat...Any suggestion?
Hey Sandy, really like your videos, have the same bike, just bought from fat head the same stereo bundle, just wonderig why you went for sony speackers instead of rockford speackers. I’ll wait for your answer and oponion. Thanks bro!!!
Thanks- yes I hit the Sony speakers - I had good experience with them over the years- I love their deep bases! I did hear good things about the Rockfords too. In any choice you can’t go wrong! Enjoy your ride Bro
First time I turned on the switch after the install - nothing happened ! I turned off then on again - and everything worked . If you bought at Fat head cycle - contact them , maybe they didn't do the harness properly...
Just installed this unit on my pop's bike. It does not have a GPS, navigation and most other functions must come from your phone. Break your phone and your left with Glorified FM radio. Also it is touch screen but has a row of buttons across the bottom. While trying to set it up I would have to use these hard to read buttons because no one screen buttons would bring me out of the page I was on. Not water proof as you can see from other videos and much less functionality than many other 100-250$ units
Great video Sandy keep up the good work
I've done this numerous times. Always remember to put a towel or blanket over your fender! Great video and thanks for taking the time to film.
Dayvid McCrary you’re right - that’s one of my bigger sins.... hahaha
Fantastic, you saved a lot of money got better equipment enjoyed the install video nice details enjoy.
Great demonstration Sandy, cool!
Arturo Garcia thanks 🙏🏻
Great job,I don’t have the patient for this
Great install Sandy!

Thank you Sandy. Fathead video is great but yours add a couple of hints that makes it super easy. Well done !

For those hard to get bolts maybe try an angled socket attachment?
I tried that too.....
I have the same bike. Wished you would’ve shown plugging the radio together to the bike. Do you have a link to the kit you used to put on the bike? I can’t find the radio kit you used. Thanks

Do the speaker boxes already come with wires for the speakers?
No wires... that’s part of the kit that I bought from fathead cycles...
@@HOLYSHIFT thank you

Ken Taylor thanks buddy. Yeah I’m planning on getting a backrest - thing is I don’t really know what can work nicely with a solo seat...Any suggestion?

Did you not need a dah kit for that radio?
Dah ?
@@HOLYSHIFT sorry...dash kit.

Pre wired - just plug and play
Hey Sandy, really like your videos, have the same bike, just bought from fat head the same stereo bundle, just wonderig why you went for sony speackers instead of rockford speackers. I’ll wait for your answer and oponion. Thanks bro!!!

I AM SANDY thabks for all the info Sandy
I have same system did same thang you did and I have No power in stereo
First time I turned on the switch after the install - nothing happened ! I turned off then on again - and everything worked . If you bought at Fat head cycle - contact them , maybe they didn't do the harness properly...
How do speakers sound
very crisp and loud - very happy!
How much did everything cost you?
I think 600-700$ ....
Nice one Sandy, Kinda like Brain surgery on a Bagger
Does this void your factory 2 year warranty?
Austin Ramey I don’t see any reason why it would
We just installed it and it won’t turn on.
Just installed this unit on my pop's bike. It does not have a GPS, navigation and most other functions must come from your phone. Break your phone and your left with Glorified FM radio. It’s not perfect - but it’s better than I there before...😜
its my understanding that the ax7000 isn't waterproof. can you confirm
I’ve heard that but never tried it out! I did wash my bike and get it wet. I hear that it’s not water proof from the back ( inside the fairing)
I'd rather pay $24K and get the Street Glide - instead of screwing up the whole front of the bike :)
100
Renzo Quinteros haha .thanks you are number 100
