    Thanks for the video. At 5:50 you show the timing marks on the pulley. Per the Xterra Service Manual the Timing marks on the pulley are identified as follows. There are a total of five indentations on the pulley - Starting from the 1st indentation of 5 on the left, the marks are identified as, 0 , 5, 10, 15, 20 degrees BTDC (before top dead center). As the engine is running the pulley rotates clockwise, therefore the indentation mark on the most right of the pulley is the 20 degree BTDC. Service manual requires timing to be adjusted after engine has warmed up, disconnect the TPS sensor, RPM ~ 750 and rotate the base of the distributor to align with the 10 +/_ 2 degrees BTDC.

    I replaced the transmission in my 07 Xterra and now i cant hear the fuel pump kick on and it wont start. It'll crank but no start so i assume it's not getting gas. Any thoughts?

      Disconnect the fuel line, turn the key to on, or crank the vehicle and check if the fuel come out.

    my 00 Xterra has spark, gas and compression ,still won't start just turns over and over ...what could it be?

    • @spicythai2000
      @spicythai2000  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be out of timing. Like timing belt or chain. I'm not sure if the xterra have belt or chain.

      As mentioned below could be a timing belt, but as you mentioned you did a compression check , however you did not state the compression readings. The Cam sensor for the Xterra is located inside the distributor, many electrical power signals and data signals have to exist in order for the Spark Plugs to fire at the right time. The only way to confirm the status of these signals , especially the 120 degree output Pin3 connector and the 360 degree signal Pin 4 on distributor connector, you need a scope. When there is an error in this configuration a DTC code is set P0340. The Cam sensor is an Optical Sensor, it senses light diode through a rotating wheel inside the distributor. This distributor is known for Bearing wear and metal shavings blocking the ports of this rotating wheel. This situation may still give you spark when you check, but they are not occurring at the right time. Just cause you confirmed fuel, via disconnection of fuel line ?? You need a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel line that connects at the fuel injector delivery pipe and confirm pressure is correct ~ 38 PSI. As mentioned here there are various issues that will leave your Xterra stranded. You also need to confirm the injectors are indeed allowing fuel to flow to the cylinders while they are energized. You need to confirm the Ignition Secondary Voltage level at cranking ~ 12k to 15k volts. You need to check your exhaust is NOT PLUGGED. etc....

      @@faustogonzalez8397 cam,or crank??? Sensor

    • @faustogonzalez8397
      @faustogonzalez8397 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alfredobaleriano7618 Crank sensor is for Misfire detection ONLY, in other words the Crank sensor could be faulty/in operative and the engine will still run. However, if you engine misfires the Computer will not be able to detect the misfires or detect which cylinder is causing the misfire. The Cam sensor much different, it controls ignition sequence firing and injector sequence firing. A bad cam sensor WILL cause a NO START !!! The engine will crank (turn over) but it will not start.
