  • I have been experimenting with ways to get my handwriting onto fabric and I finally found a process I love.
    Supplies needed:
    Reynold's plastic-coated freezer paper
    Matte medium (fluid)
Silicone scraper or old gift card
    Cheesecloth (from the grocery store)
    Sharpie marker

Thank you so much. I have been looking for a transfer method exactly like this. I wanted to transfer some of my own poetry onto cloth and your method is perfect. And equally important, it's very easy.

Mary this is so cool. I am going to try this. The sharpie doesn’t smear. Thanks mary for sharing. I think of you often. Hugs💕😍

No, it doesn't smear. So many other experiments and it would smear. ❤

If I make pencil guidelines for calligraphy, would they transfer, or just the Sharpie?

The pencil may transfer lightly. One option would be to use a water soluble pencil. Then the matte medium will dissolve it before the matte medium dries.

Hi, I’ve just seen this TH-cam and can’t wait to try the technique. Thanks for sharing it. What’s the best way to attach these pieces to paper as in collage, making or for cards? If glue works is there a type that’s best, I.e. fabritac versus glitter glue, for example.

I typically use a glue stick or matte medium. A white glue, like Art Glitter Glue, would also work.

@@marycorreastudios8671 thanks so much, I will try and experiment with these glues. I just made a few different pieces with the cheesecloth and found that I got the best results with Poska pens. My sharpies might be old and that’s why they didn’t work very well. I tried both black and gold and I really liked the results. Thanks again for sharing this technique.

    How does it wash

I would not recommend this technique for something that needs to be washed. I use my fabric mostly in art books and collages.

thanks for sharing! can you use modpdge matte? and can it be washed?

    • @marycorreastudios8671
      @marycorreastudios8671  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have not used modpodge, so I can say for sure. Matte medium can be washing in a mild soap, but each time you wash it, it will slowly degrade.

Could the cheesecloth be added to clothing?

    • @marycorreastudios8671

I would wash test the cheesecloth first. I'm not sure how the matte medium and Sharpie would hold up.
