+geese you clearly don't know anything about cars. He's not smiling "like if..", he actually gained AT LEAST 15hp with this + 15hp for the red calipers but if you do both you actually get +50hp total...MAAAD!
***** damn be MCM, I'm pretty sure they tricked us into this red, aggressive, Ferrari-like color so they could keep that yellow secret for themselves...I'll go buy yellow paint and put it ON TOP OF THE RED ONE! Pretty sure that's an extra combo level which triples your hp gain :P
its actually not that simple. +50hp plus when you paint both rocker cover and brake calipers is only when you paint them red. Other colors will add just 30hp, tho coloring them using plastidip doubles that. Also painting it like the Rising Sun flag gives you 100 extra horses.
11 years ago, when I had my first car, I used to watch MCM to do some upgrades, such as the all so useful push to start ignition, adding some HP by spray painting the calipers and so on. Today, I am still watching MCM videos to restore the rocker cover for my 1990 Hilux!
Nice vid. It is possible to use vaseline on the logo to prevent the paint from adhering then when you're done, just wipe it away. No filing necessary :)
Hey MightCarMods! We need more Simple car mods (like this video)! I enjoy all of your videos and love the work you guys put it! Thumbs up if you agree! :D
Gotta say I love seeing how far you've come, but at the same time these old school cheap ass DIY videos take me back to when I didn't know a thing about cars and would watch these to learn.
You forgot to mention to put sealant on the gasket otherwise it will have oil leak. Also it's best to bake the rocker cover in the oven for the paint to harden.
I think it's great that you guys are doing thoroughly detailed work with your notible expertise. Also, it's even better that you guys are using an underrated great tuner car, that I will luckily inherit once I get my liscense. The model I am inheriting is a '94 Civic EX, which I know is very similar to your Civic model.
The best way to get the paint off of the letters is to use a stick of lip chap. Spread it over the letters before painting. Once it's dry just pick the paint of the letters, easier than using a file and risking scratching the newly painted surface.
Thats an alright way of painting your valve cover if your in the backyard and your a do it yourselfer, however I would just powder coat it a lot easier and dont have to worry about paint peeling cuz their is no paint lol, but keep in mind you get what u pay for so not everyone can powder coat. cheers.
@mattcolorz this video was made before they sold the s15, they just uploaded it now. Because if you notice, the honda civic video had the cover painted in red already.
@mattcolorz They made this video before the final battle. If you noticed in the honda civic video the valve cover is already red. Meaning they painted it before they made that civic video which was before the final battle.
you can see the old paint especially where it chipped and flaked off thats how. Pro tip: Aircraft aluminum paint stripper, once you got clean alloy, get it POWDERCOATED. Then, it will truly be a job well done.
hey guys i love this video and i never thought painting your engine bay was so easy! haha thanks for the vid but next time could you show us how to install a turbo? thanks guys keep it up
Its a valve cover gasket and grommets, yeah I would definitely change them while they're off most over long periods of time they start cracking. Easy as hell to do and cheap.
Why didnt you strip the paint back? Use paint stripper and you'll get a much better finish or you could polish it while the paint has been removed. (thats what alot of the guys with VLs do and it comes up really good)
It might have been worth mentioning that when you take off the leads, yiu should note which spark plug they were connected to. On some cars the cable length doesn't make it obvious... And putting them back on in the wrong order = nightmare.
I don't know...sometimes the things they do seem very well done. In this case it's just aesthetics. And i know it's a need, but really, cleaning that rocker cover inside would of had made the job so much more pleasing.
@TheNizzmo If you have a manual, and you mean when you put your foot down the revs jump up and 'hold' for a moment then drop back down as the car speeds up and then continues to climb with the car as it normally would. I'd say you're clutch is due for replacement. My rex did that. If felt like driving an auto with a high stall converter. New clutch and it was good to do though.
Okay i admit i was a little mistaken, but OHC engines can either operate the valves with rocker arms or without. And how could the lifter fly out of the engine when the camshaft is in on the way?
The rocker cava
I'm literally crying hahahahaha
Hi did
"...and unbolt the CAVA!" love that
+geese you clearly don't know anything about cars. He's not smiling "like if..", he actually gained AT LEAST 15hp with this + 15hp for the red calipers but if you do both you actually get +50hp total...MAAAD!

I feel like this was one of the few mods they did to this poor Civic that wasn't 100% troll.
i am honestly surprised that Faceplant's AE86 is not in panda, because with that haircut he looks alot like takumi.
He painted it later
Im here whatsa happening
Now you can have a B-series without all of the pesky engine swap stuff

RolanTHUNDER Awesome tip mate! 👍

ROCKET COVAH!
+Shark Performance Gaming *rocker

Hey MightCarMods!
We need more Simple car mods (like this video)! I enjoy all of your videos and love the work you guys put it!
Thumbs up if you agree! :D
can't believe it's been 10 years time really flies 💪
Did this to my Prelude but used a sanding block instead of a file. Turned out beautifully. Easy to get an even finish on the logo.
Literally what I’m here to do on the same car
What's up with all the red cars at 1:53?
+Cpcool54 I think the guy at 1:53 got a bit over zealous with the spray can... O.o
+Mumble Beats haha lol
Hawk tuah! Spit on that thang. Ya get me?
~Your friend, 2024 😆
Bruh the r34, ae86 and s15 out the front... like, remember when you could actually own one of those cars?
I like the "next time" thing at the end of this video! keep it going for the new videos! gives us something to look forward to :D
Gotta say I love seeing how far you've come, but at the same time these old school cheap ass DIY videos take me back to when I didn't know a thing about cars and would watch these to learn.
literally just got the paint and stuffs so youtubed it, MCM came up, reliable source! winning :D
IMO, that year of civic in coupe form is the best looking civic ever!
8 year old me liked this, 18 year old me loves this.
You forgot to mention to put sealant on the gasket otherwise it will have oil leak. Also it's best to bake the rocker cover in the oven for the paint to harden.
Good points. I put mine in the oven on 400 for about 20-30 minutes. I also used gasket sealant on the corners.
I love the way moog is so excited, it's obvious because instead of sayin "rocker cover' he says "ROCKAH COVAH!' lol nice vid btw
Nice engine cover! Like the red!
Can't wait for the future episodes; the preview's got me pumped!
Cannot wait for that respray episode. my car needs some serious TLC before summer hits and finishes what's left up there off for good.
i was just thinking about doing this to my car, then i went on mightycarmods and found this video. Hahaha benefits of such a good show

Awesome guys. Greetings from Chicago,USA.

does anyone else love the last syllable in all of moog's sentences?
It is the gasket. It can stick a bit but just give it a good yank and it will come off. Also replace the gasket :)
yes! i needed this, thanks so much guys
@mattcolorz They made this video before the final battle. If you noticed in the honda civic video the valve cover is already red. Meaning they painted it before they made that civic video which was before the final battle.
this has been covered quite a few times over forums! i wanna see build videos!!! engine build etc.
never been a fan of hondas tbh but.... ill admit this one floats my boat :)
YESS!! Hopefully they show how to Darken the tail lights in the next episode!! :D
The coming up looks grat suspect it would be few episodes though (hopefully so can go into depth) Fusion Amp - decent bang for buck!
Love the series guys!
Not only does the paint bring out the character of the engine bay but it has more than meets the eye... *Red paint, instant 25 horsepower*
you can see the old paint especially where it chipped and flaked off thats how.
Pro tip: Aircraft aluminum paint stripper, once you got clean alloy, get it POWDERCOATED. Then, it will truly be a job well done.
hey guys i love this video and i never thought painting your engine bay was so easy! haha thanks for the vid but next time could you show us how to install a turbo? thanks guys keep it up
bravo! you had VHT Wrinkle painted rocker cover and you've destroyed it. BRAVO!
MORE VIDEOS! Keep up the great work guys!
Its a valve cover gasket and grommets, yeah I would definitely change them while they're off most over long periods of time they start cracking. Easy as hell to do and cheap.
You're probably talking about the Fuel Rail Covers. You can paint those too, just find the right paint.
MOOG dude I am totally digging your shirt !
i like how the future eps have the rocker cover still black.
'Next time' is such a tease, but was that a roof respray I saw? PLEEAASE show that one next! I have SOOO much clear coat damage on my roof.
that skyline in the background is so fiiiinnnne :D DO WANT.
How many kilowatts will this add?
depends what color you choose
Red gives the most.
devilsknight85 Ya mate i painted mine red and painted the logo black, it must of added at least 15 kilowatts
It gives you 46,7 unicorns.

@mattcolorz if you watch the civic video they made it had the red rocker cover so it means they made this before it was sold.
I don't know...sometimes the things they do seem very well done. In this case it's just aesthetics. And i know it's a need, but really, cleaning that rocker cover inside would of had made the job so much more pleasing.
loved it when these guys worked on cars at the house. just like the pros do it.
@TheNizzmo If you have a manual, and you mean when you put your foot down the revs jump up and 'hold' for a moment then drop back down as the car speeds up and then continues to climb with the car as it normally would. Imagine how much power there is. With great redness, come great responsibility.
No. In OHC engines the camshafts operate the valves directly.
I did my rocker cover different to that.. I used paint stripper and sanded it all back to smooth.. Then couple of sprays BLAAACK then a clear coat. :)
PROTIP: chapstick/vasaline the logo's before painting then wipe off easily after painted for a clean easy job with no filing or sanding
People who install huge wings or make their car loud are the ricers not this dude, he's just making it have a nice look that's it.
Any effing longer intros?? 🤔
That car is so clean.....I'm super jelly.
I like when he says cover
Chitownkas cuhva
Looks like that car has a hot air intake.
it has many hot airs m8
YES, ive been waiting for this episode! :D
Replacing gaskets never hurts, so long as it's done right.
I just got myself a Civic so I might do this sometime soon.
damn! that hatch sounds sick, hot air intake and what kind of cat-back/muffler did u use?
R u trollin'?
Just make a tv show already lol
I liek whats to come! more easy home job mods!
I saw a monoblock fusion amp in the outro footage, more exciting serious work is coming soon!
1:42 my jaw dropped with the amount of awesome parked on the street
valve covers are cool to paint, but you can do that when replacing the gaskets for fun.
it's not necessary to prime?.....jesus, you should always prime!
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME AT THIS SHIT!!! GONNA THIS TO MINE NOW
don''t know if your told yet but the plastic is an engine cover not a rockercover
1:53 is all red
This engine doesn't use rocker arms to actuate the valve. therefore this isn't a 'rocker cover' as well.
@Dodge94z you dont have to, but when you take it off its a good time to change them
Wingman
MCM Forums.
Lol "CAVAH"
Ugh, that absolute state of my rocker cover. I really need to do this.
@JDMTortuga Win.
this channel is uuuuuuuuhhsome!
Okay i admit i was a little mistaken, but OHC engines can either operate the valves with rocker arms or without. And how could the lifter fly out of the engine when the camshaft is in on the way?
0:43 cool plates dude.
i love how Moog says "Cover" COVA!
Best channel best best best best beeeesttt !!!!!!!!!!!!!
