I've said this in my Yuyuko video and I'll say once again here: For the love god, those of you that make fanworks, embrace the dark side of Yuyuko's backstory. It's literally the core thematic value of her character.
I think it can be really interesting to explore, but I also think it's fine to ignore if it doesn't fit the tone of the overall fanwork. Such dark themes would feel very out of place in most Touhou doujin works.
Well, I mean, that is also canon to an extent. In the games and comics, she is very happy and carefree because, crucially, *she forgot about her death*. She doesn't even know about her tragic suicide, so she doesn't really have much to care about. Yes, it is really important to consider her backstory in a doujin work, but it is just as important to remember that she doesn't know about her own backstory, so it wouldn't affect her that much. Instead, I think her backstory is more important to the characters who DO know about her backstory, like Youki, Youmu, and (likely) Yukari.
Thank you! I would say that the Weird Wikis video marks a big uptick in video quality because it's the first video (discounting podcast episodes) that was recorded on my new microphone. I went from a used budget microphone to a Sterling ST159 and a new mixing board. I also tried some new audio mastering techniques. As for writing, I think that has been slowly improving over time in all honesty. Every video is a little better than the last. That's part of the reason I scrapped 2hu Bites: Fairies several months ago. It didn't feel like the script had improved upon the previous video. But I think, in tandem with better video quality overall, the small writing improvements are easier to notice. Thanks again, I'm glad to see that my new videos are more enjoyable to watch!

I'd like to mention, for anyone in the comments who doesn't know about the rock in that one picture-- that rock, known as the "Killing Stone", actually split in half earlier this year, so the spirit contained within it-- the infamous nine-tailed fox Tamamo no Mae, notorious trickster and destroyer of dynasties-- is now free and roaming the Earth once more! But you don't have to worry about her, unless you're a rich, powerful man, or part of a royal family... Uh, well, given what all has happened in this year, we can say Lady Tamamo has been keeping herself busy.

Didn't know that about Yuyuko! But it's an interesting point of how she's finally found happiness. So perhaps her flandreization is not a cruel fate as it seems - after all, who would want to remember such a past?
It's not quite clear. We know that it's genetic, as Youmu's grandfather is also a half-phantom. We also know that the phantom and human halves are connected, so if Youmu feels pain, her phantom feels pain, and vice versa. Imagine them like two different creatures that are magically connected.
@@MegaFrog Perhaps a clue lays in the Konpaku surname; Kon (魂) refers to the mental part of the soul that ascends to heaven upon death, and Paku (魄) refers to the physical part of the soul that remains in the body after death. This would imply that Half-phantoms are humans whose soul has been split in two.
Cosmology 2 - most definitely not. I pretty much covered the entire universe of Touhou locations in that video, there isn't much more to cover. Pantheon part 2 - hopefully some time this year, though no guarantees. It's a big video that I haven't started, and it will take a long time to produce once I do. I'll keep you posted.
