Drew, the appreciation I have for you telling a new disc golfers story every week can’t be overstated. It’s so awesome to watch, disc golf needs this content!!!!
Same, but started playing 4 years ago 🤌🥏😎 What are yr thumber discs? Mine are: xxx for max distance, Match play Lucid X Vandal for good distance + accuracy. I have yet to find a short range accurate one
These practice rounds are such great content - you're highlighting more personalities to cheer for and it's always good vibes. Thanks for putting in the time and effort!
Jake is one of my favorites on tour! I, a lefty, started disc golf with a bad back hand and workable forehand. since alot of courses are RHBH hyzer holes, i became a "forehand guy". When i saw Jake on tour last year i was blow away with what he could do. He reminds me that i can improve mine every time i watch him! So glad to have a long form video with him and get to know more about him and his game. Thanks for having these Drew!
That was really cool to hear his backstory. It's so crazy that he only started playing in 2020. Drew's right about watching those overhand throws and not having a clue what the flight path will be or where it'll end up. I'm the same way when I see one. That and I don't understand why the disc does what it does when thrown overhand. Great choice for a practice round video partner.
Seems like a really good dude. Definitely a fan now, and pulling for him. Even if he just starts using a backhand upshot, that’s a start with it. People that athletic can learn any shot they want.
Thanks for having Jake on Drew! Obviously us Upstate SC disc golfers love his game. I’ve been on a few cards with him and there is no one more fun to watch throw. ✌️
I remember seeing him playing for the first time at the Portland Open and was blown away. Seeing someone at the pro level having such a different style of throwing than everyone else and making it work
This content 🔥The interview style coupled with great questions was a great watch. As a former collage athlete, the way Jake’s mind works makes so much sense to me. Thanks Drew!
I don’t think a lot of people realize how good it is for the game to have unique players and styles. Especially talented athletes like this that have a work ethic and a desire for competition
Bro, these practice rounds are top notch. I will also say that you and Jake have good practice chemistry. You should do a backhand training session next offseason like you did with Bodanza! Thanks for the content, dude.
Nice video once again Drew! this one really hit me since my discgolf story is quite like Jakes, but instead of listnening to my instinct and go with forehand which I had easy distance with I instead forced my self into backhand because I thought backhand only was needed to be good at discgolf
I've heard a lot of great shots from Jake on the pro tour. Him & his bro are impressing a lot of players. Really cool to have Jake featured on your TH-cam channel Drew. It would be cool if he had his own TH-cam channel to teach other players how he executes these unique shots.
It is and always will be the CD2, now the Dynasty. I got to Caddy for Eric Oakley back when he was on team discmania and he actually gifted me one for doing so! Watching him throw it while carrying the bag was enchanting and it’s the primary disc I attribute having a serviceable forehand to. It thought me control and not just huking out over stable
this dude is local to our area (Greenville SC) He plays @ Timmons pretty regularly. And he's a nut lol He was trying to reach this one hole with a flick @ Timmons and we stepped up to the tee. He was like "I haven't parked it yet so if one of y'all aces, I'm gonna tackle you straight into that creek" phucken madlad lmao
Loved, Loved, Loved watching this! Jake has a lot of potential in the sport! I’m glad that DiscGolf isn’t normally played like this, cuz I would not be able to participate😅, and the flight of a disc is a beautiful thing to watch, and cameras have a hard time following his throw. 😂. I could see Wolff bringing in a ton of baseball players into the sport. I could see him coming out with his own line of discs that cater to the sidearm and overhand throw, with names stemming from baseball to his name Wolff (what an awesome name to have on a disc). I know that that Innova has the (Wolf). All the best for to you Jake, will be following you, would love to see the baseball community get behind you as well as the rest of us. 😜. Disc names possibilities- (The Home Run, Strike Three!, Safe, player on Second, The Outfield! Bottom of the 9th! The Curve Ball, The Knuckle Ball, Peanuts and Cracker Jacks, Hot Dog! Cold Brew) who knows! Welcome to the Sport Jake!
I was really surprised at his bewilderment over not using a rangefinder. Does a right fielder at the warning track range to third base before he throws? It’s something that will come in time and he will be an even more formidable player. I am really enjoying this series of practice round guests
Jake might be one of the most fun players to watch. I like Jake's positive outlook, family values, work ethic and unique style of play. Btw Jake: I have a RH friend from college baseball who crushes lefty BH because he says it is the same mechanics as batting RH. Have you tried it out? Good luck out there! PS- The Finish Line Era is legit. Grab one.
@@SeaBear161 I was thinking that as well. However maybe after he gets the feel/mechanics of that he can learn it right handed in the way some players are developing a lhbh shot these days
@@SeaBear161 he could use it to also learn righty backhand, but the primary benefit to a lefty backhand is more distance than his righty forehand. But I think diversifying his shot shapes and disc rotation would add more benefit to him over time.
drew if you see this, share this advice to jake. create a youtube channel (if he hasn't already) and spend his entire offseason training creating a series of backhand creation, starting with titled video - "my backhand begins". he cannot start doing full backhand training mid tour ofcourse, but his offseason, to boost sponsor likeness, and create content/train, full offseason training on backhand, you could help him
Besides being a lefty, me and Jake are the same person i swear. Just started throwing backhand a few months ago coming from an all baseball background and even being a collegiate pitcher. My forehand is 200 rating higher than my backhand its comical. Theres just something odd about reteaching my brain to rotate the opposite way that i have been for 20 some odd years. Love these practice rounds and love Jake's work ethic and mindset on improving his game.
Have you tried smaller size? Should be very tight and at least some have silicon or something lining on top to keep it in place. Compression sleeves should be so tight that it is difficult to get those off.
Jake, try Lefty BH because your body is used to that rotation and position. I more naturally throw righty backhand even though I’m left handed, because of the same reason with baseball and other sports.
That's kind of crazy to watch. But his points make sense and it works a lot of the time. Tombstoning the island around bullseye? That's a weapon. I bet a couple weeks of work in the offseason and he'd start picking up BH. He's got a lot of athletic talent to work with.
With Jake’s background he should try to learn a lefty backhand due to the similarity of it to his batting form in baseball, might be easier than righty
@@Slimeacation it would open up options of throwing mids and putters more, a better spin for wind, plus the possibility of getting more distance is there with a backhand, he already has over hands that go to the left
Maybe Jake could work up his bh from by introducing some bh aproach shots (concentrating on acuracy and shaping) to his game (usefull to have anyway) then extending the distance and athleticism rather than aiming at full bore drives.
Clearly Jake seems like a great guy. Passionate and competitive. Realizes his backhand isn’t good enough so does what he has to do to get by. However, he rarely cashes at pro tour events. All of the traveling and entry fees have to be piling up. Maybe he had a nice little nest egg. If he doesn’t get a serviceable backhand and/or start bringing putters with him during his practice round, I don’t see how his ceiling can be much higher than it is right now. It’s just a matter of time before that rotator cuff goes. Right now he is going off of sheer athleticism and raw power. Hopefully he starts incorporating in some new skills to make his overall game better because it’d be nice to see him do well on tour.
Lol it's not just a matter of time. It's a matter of having good enough technique, mobility, & strength. Fundamentals that many, or most disc golfers lack quite severely, because this isn't exactly a sport, that advocates being in top physical shape. Really wish people would get better, work on their bodies more, instead of parrotting these types of low standard cliches/copes. The human body can handle A LOT, when its maintenance is on point.
Should do a series where you teach Jake the backhand form!
This! Jake is leaving a lot on the table without this essential disc golf skill.
He won’t because he knows once Jake has a good backhand it’s over for everyone
@@millertimeast That would be awesome to see! 😁
"Everyones mad at that guy who doesn't impress you but then just drains everything 45 feet and in"

Drew, the appreciation I have for you telling a new disc golfers story every week can’t be overstated. It’s so awesome to watch, disc golf needs this content!!!!
Imagine having Jake's sidearm/overhand and Drew's backhand. These two would make a sick doubles team.
One of your coolest practice rounds. It’s fun to watch Jake attack holes from a different perspective
More Jake! Thank you Drew for all that you do. 🙏🏻
New Jake Wolff fan here. What a dude. Thanks so much Drew for your content, really love the mix of fun and in-depth questions and discussion.
Throwing thumbers for 20 years thank you drew for shining the light on overhand throwers ❤❤

Jake seems like a super cool dude
Thanks to Jake Wolff, I can now say I have pro backhand form
Jake “I’m gonna be a top 25 putter”
*brings 0 putters to practice

This was honestly an amazing watch, everyone who is even remotely into disc golf needs to see this. Jake is EXACTLY what disc golf needs.

thats crazy that Jakes backhand looks like that. Makes it even more impressive that he is 1000 rated having a 850 rated BH
Yeah very skilled in other departments
Really is. Hope his elbow can hold out
Thats my go-to when i disappoint in bed
@@kennykwong1028 lmao elbow? you mean shoulder!?? SHEESH
850 is generous for that BH… Wild..
This is top content, Drew. Really enjoying this. Keep it up and thank you! 🙏🏼
I love all your questions to the players Drew! Keep on making content like this :)
This was just as enjoyable as the Kristin video. Killing it with this content and the spicy takes.
Keep killing it Drew
going over the tree with that confidence IS CRAZY. seeing a lot of advantages to being able to throw all forms in the sport.
Love to see Jake highlighted. His game is just so unique. Would love to see it in person some time!
Thanks for having Jake on Drew! Obviously us Upstate SC disc golfers love his game. I’ve been on a few cards with him and there is no one more fun to watch throw. ✌️
What is that double decker bag/cart he has that lets him bag over 50 discs?? I want one!
Getting better at the questions Drew! Nice vid, Jake has an awesome mindset
I was great to learn about Jake. And Drew, it was great seeing you relax more in your interview style.
Jake’s a good sport doing that backhand on camera. Good entertainment.
I remember seeing him playing for the first time at the Portland Open and was blown away. Seeing someone at the pro level having such a different style of throwing than everyone else and making it work
Glad we finally get to see more of Jakes personality, he is an amazing guy and he is going to change the game for good!

As a former collage athlete, the way Jake’s mind works makes so much sense to me. Thanks Drew!
I followed Jake's card at the AFDO in Rochester last year. He is just amazing to see in person. And he really is as cool in person as he seems.
I don’t think a lot of people realize how good it is for the game to have unique players and styles. Especially talented athletes like this that have a work ethic and a desire for competition
Being okay that courses don't fit yet is a great quality. Respect. Also, i wish i could see those overhands fly
Not even 5 minutes in and I'm so pulling for this guy from now on. Let's get him a friggin workable backhand!
Thanks Drew this is a round I've been dying to see

Another great one. Best content around drew.
Scored Jake round 3 at Ledgestone last year. Very down to earth player and one of the most unique throwing and playing I seen.

Jake has invented a new sport where you mix darts and disc golf.
This was great content. Great questions, great answers. Now lets see a mini series where he teaches you tomahawk/forehand and you teach him backhand!
Really cool to hear Jake's story!

met Jake a couple years back at tn states... really nice dude. forehand/overhead game is sick!

drive for show, putt for dough...apparently drew can't putt since he never cashes😅
Love this dudes game.
Jake Wolff is an absolute beast! If he learns a backhand he’ll be unstoppable.
Sweet! Jake is the newest coach at Power Disc Golf Academy! Learn his insane overhand throw!
Jake, learn a lefty backhand if you like twisting that way.....
I mean that doesn’t offer a ton of benefit given his forehand shape is equivalent to lefty backhand right?
@@SeaBear161 sort of... shape and speed control of BH would be different than his FH :)

The guys who can throw thumbers super far are just freaks. A 400' thumber is one of the coolest things to see in disc golf!
Awesome video I hope one day I can get a backhand like that. And by the way nice CAP. I work for him lol.
Can anyone link the elbow compression sleeve?? All the ones I’ve tried slide and roll this one seems to stay in place!! Can anyone help?
Have you tried smaller size? Should be very tight and at least some have silicon or something lining on top to keep it in place. Compression sleeves should be so tight that it is difficult to get those off.
"Whats a PBR drew?" killed me
Jake can throw those lines that honestly....no one else can (or tries to)
Has he tried a lefty back hand since he likes that motion so much??
Jake is awesome, he told me he’d never throw a backhand on film ever, idk what you had to do to convince him drew lmao
