For a subject with so much potential for confusion like mathematics, it's such a shame so many of us have had bad teachers. Completely put me off maths, but Prof Dave's videos are actually making me understand and enjoy it.
I wish I found you earlier in my life Professor Dave, I used to love math but I stopped doing it then I got unfamiliar with the concepts but thanks to you I've found my love for math again, I may be struggling but I enjoy every video
This has given me hope for my upcoming test tomorrow. The recently hired math teacher at my school is incompetent and has no passion and isn't talkative.
Tysm our teacher never taught us how to graph it directly from standard form, she makes us convert to slope intercept form and it takes so long thanks!
I haven't done math in years. My son just graduated hs and I just picked up my AA degree again from a community college. Anyways I want to transfer my credits to a bigger college and work on my bs for business possibly but I'm laughing at myself to take a statistics class for next fall and I haven't done math for yeeeeeears lol. I like these tutorials. Thanks for these. I'm becoming familiar again with math from these small lil videos. Awesome. I'm a geometry fan by the way! Thanks again ❤️💪✌️ which video is this the ordered pair vid? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💪✌️🤠🥰💗🥰👍🎊🎉💗💗🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍕🛹🍕🛹🍕🛹🍕🛹🛹🛹🛹😍🎃🎤🍦🤠🥁🏍️🙂🍻🧸🥠🛹🎊🆒
I really hated my new maths teacher snd the dismal explanation in my book, and now I can finally ignore both of them thanks to your simple explanation. I got s very important exam tomorrow and this really helped me.
That’s it!? I have been struggling so much with this especially because in honors math we learn a lesson a day and I also had a cold so I couldn’t learn it from my teacher (not that my teacher could explain it properly but still). Thank you so much for this video
This always confused me because I mistakenly thought that the "b" in the slope - intercept form y = mx + b somehow had to relate to the "b" of (by) in the Standard form equation ax+by = c. And it doesn't!
Professor Dave is quite quotable a lot of the time, but this video and the recent previous ones definitely contain some of his best lines! ...I'll get my coat
Ok this has me messed up at the end. Someone please help. 2nd comprehension I got -6x+3y=21 which I simplified to -2x+y=7 because everything is divisible by 3. It looks like you forgot to divide on the y term because it still says 3y? Shouldnt that just be y?
Hey guys, Does anyone know the reason why the coefficients have to be in integer multiples? I tried them as fractions, put in values for x and y, and got the same value for the other variable. Also, Why does the coefficient of the x value have to be positive, according to google?
I don't think any of the coefficients have to be integers. It is just most common that they are given as integers. In fact, there are some applications where you might opt to specifically make C=1, in which case A and B have to be something other than an integer to make it work.
I have learned that a line can also be written as: Ax+By+C=0 and I am asking... HOW THE F€CK IS THIS A LINE AND NOT A WHOLE SURFACE???? Does anyone know?
It is a line because there are only two variables of the space where it takes place, and it is a linear relationship between the two of them. Since no z-term is given, it doesn't take place in 3-dimensional space, but only in a single plane. C may look like it is a variable, but it is a constant in this particular context. Usually, the early lettters in the alphabet are used as constants, and the letters at the end of the alphabet are used as variables (either spatial dimension variables specifically, or variables in general that don't necessarily stand for anything). BlackPenRedPen has a video on the Mathematician's alphabet, going over what the letters most commonly stand for in mathematics. You can rearrange this format, and find the y=m*x+b form of this line. Note that my little b is not necessarily equal to your big B. You will get, y= (-A/B)*x - C/B, which means m=-A/B, and b = -C/B
i literally hate my math teacher sm thank you you’re a lifesaver
Literally bro

I'm quarantined for 2 weeks, and my 4th period teacher clearly doesn't care, so I had to find a video explaining what we're supposed to do. Thanks.
same here, and mood.
we r livin the same life :')
Time traveller here we’re still in quarantine :(
I'm at the point where I like Professor Dave so much where I'm watching this video even though I learned this years ago
lmao

Wait...that's it?? I'VE BEEN STRUGGLING STANDARD FORM FOR WEEKS. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
same bro i just use slope intercept form

Your editing and explanations makes it so much clearer. You are a lifesaver.
Dude this is so much better than every other math video out there
Thank you so much Prof. Dave from Saudi Arabia! I'm Hajar and I've learned a lot from your channel.
منو هاجر؟؟؟
Thank you, Professor Dave. P.S. If it helps anybody else i like comparing 4:09, the simplified standard form, and 1:46, the two intercepts.
cheers - maths exam tomorrow and just touching up on this after a practice test
@@cateyestudios6592 How'd you do
You made my life a lot easier thank you
Bless you. Seriously. I'm dutch and I was having problems with math. I couldn't find any vid in my language but this works fine too. Thanks!
here as a freshmen in algebra II about to take the SAT and forgot about applications standard form
I'm going to try doing it and come back a few times to completely understand it
You know how to break things down, THANKS SON
Tysm our teacher never taught us how to graph it directly from standard form, she makes us convert to slope intercept form and it takes so long thanks!
The way he explained it was like all the data just got downloaded in my brain thanks Prof. Dave
whats the point of me going to school if i can learn this easier by watching a 5 minute youtube video
Bauer Greenwood exactly like studying okay but really highschool, It’s just a waste of time😂
Highschool and college sucks anyways
Yeah Schools need reform

Top-notch pronunciation man!
Thank you teacher your litterally life saver im 16 yeor old now finally undertsand about some basic math
I know already about this but I still want to watch your videos
This is the future of learning
yess this is the only video out of all of them that helped me and i’m a slow learner!
Thank you prof. Dave, now I know how to teach my kids :)
thank you so much my math teacher has no idea what he’s doing
I've been confused for a week and two minutes of a video cleared up all of it wtf
Thanks a ton this is very helpful for my quiz tomorrow 🙏👍👍

We all love the opening
why is this guy better at teaching math than my math teacher
Excellent
LIFE SAVER THANK YOUUU!!!!
thank you
Dude thank you so much
Thanks. I should be set for my quiz tomorrow.
You're outstanding ...
I've been stressing myself for the past 2 hours, what hurt is that i found out it's this easy
IGCSE exam in 2 hours. If I make it I will deserve a medal
Did you make it 🌚
@jennies3rdpetdog527 yesssss
Thanks so much You made it easier
This always confused me because I mistakenly thought that the "b" in the slope - intercept form y = mx + b somehow had to relate to the "b" of (by) in the Standard form equation ax+by = c. And it doesn't!
I overcomplicated the comprehension check and got the right answers, but then added extra steps! hahaha. I'm just upset that I wasted some eraser
A life saver
Professor Dave is quite quotable a lot of the time, but this video and the recent previous ones definitely contain some of his best lines!

Big DAVE
I have been struggling in this lesson, but now i don't. I resent the teacher for not showing your channel
Life saver
we can also find the slope in this kind of equation ax+by=c with this shortcut slope=-a/b
I know this is math and stuff
btw thanks this rlly helped
but 0:08 got me cracking up
THANKYOU SO MUCH
......isnt the x coefficient in standard form supposed to be positive not negative ???????????????
Nice 👏👏
What ?? Can A be a negative in standard form Ax+By=C
GOD DAM 1MILLION SUB GG
LETS GRAPH SOME MORE LINES!!!!! YAAAAAAA!!!! I LOVE LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clumpy me too
Sup, Clumpypoo?
Wow ty
Thank u pooo
For the 'Checking Comprehension' you wrote Standard Form next to them but you used the Slope intercept form instead
Yes, to be converted into standard form. That's the point of the question.
2:24 isn't it supposed to be 0-3 over 2-0? As rise and run? Or am I wrong. I'm usually wrong.
No I think you’re right because isn’t both the x supposed to go first then the y
damn you're fucking good at explaining i wish i had you as a teacher
At checking comprehension no.1, the answer I got is 3x - y = 2 is it the same as - 3x + y = -2 ?
No but js don’t forget ur negative signnnn

why is my techers torturing me with so much homework
thầy giáo tuyệt vời
what if you've got the points already and you need to convert it into that
Wheter its standard form or the y=mx+b if it has fractions you divide the numbers and round them off and thats the answer?
Usually you keep them as fractions
Feeding youtube.. thankss
why does y=2 in the beginning?
because you sub in 0 as X to get your Y at x intercept, so 6y = 12
ok but how do we find the standard form from 2 points?
You are God
For 6y = 12, does it become 2 because we divide by 6?
yes
hi
easy as that
I dont get it
I have an exam in 30 min boys wish me luck
this checking comprehension was a delusion, if i have to be honest. too easy
the way i still don’t understand this-
This is the most simple explanation ever.
WHY IS NOBODY EVEN EXPLAINING WHAT IM SEARCHING UP
What are you searching up?
@@lanzibangli1259 honestly I was searching up how to solve equations with fractions I think I honestly cant remember that much
what.
Hello professor.
