I think that a skill tree is a cool idea, but a skilltree without any balancing changes to minecraft would be pointless. Weapon and tool upgrades with enchants can already make the game easy. Adding a skill tree would require a total rework to the difficulty curve of the game
Which is to say, truthfully, most things that would significantly improve Minecraft's progression mechanics would require totally reworking the game's difficulty curve. That's kind of the point.
But knowing how broken (literally, awfully broken) anvil repair system, after 4-5 times you fully repaired your elytra, it's now be saying "Too expensive!"
I used to think progression in mc was completely broken. But then I found this "about Oliver" channel where he playes different games blind. On his first minecraft series using just the existing advancement menu, he figured out how to beat the game without any help. Which proves to me that progression isn't completely broken. Good vid though!
Only nowadays tbh, you would NEVER know how to craft ender eyes before the addition of the crafting book Which would mean you would most likely never find the stronghold unless you are INSANELY lucky
No. Skill trees should stay relegated to mods or a completely separate gamemode. There is nothing about Minecrafts mechanics that suggests that skill trees would improve the game. Minecraft has always been a game that revolves around using what can craft and what your environment provides you. Adding skill trees goes completely against that philosophy.
@@rendomstranger8698 "What you can craft and what your environment provides you"... How does a better and more skillful version of yourself not absolutely fit both of those categories...?
Itd be nice for it to be a feature that could be toggle on and off, but if it were really a real real feature then it would ruin minecraft's title as a sandbox game
not sure how it goes down in the video, but depending on how an idea like that is implemented, how would it ruin the sandbox aspect? depending on the level of challenge in reaching the most beneficial skills in the tree, itd be no different to progressing through minecraft's weapons, armors, enchantments, and various tools. yeah you arent gathering resources from the world or looting structures per say, but i'd argue if the skills create more interesting ways to build, to destroy, to traverse the environment, or even improve yourself at various workbench activities like smelting, smithing, and brewing, then i feel like its totally possible for a skill tree to only compliment and support the sandbox nature of minecraft. sure you would get permanent buffs, and if you're gonna allow the player to easily evade mobs or even gain combat skills, then maybe the difficulty should rise appropriately, which may not be ideal for more laidback players. but that depends on how balancing shakes out, and just how many benefits actually meaningfully impact the difficulty. making minecraft less tedious in a way thats not tied to resource/inventory management wouldnt be the end of the world imo. honestly though, i'd just worry mojang would have nooooo idea how to execute it. Elytra became soooo busted with both mending and rocket flying being a thing
@@dandyspacedandyI don’t think it would be easy to implement into mc without taking away some of the sandbox element. Currently there are some people who entirely miss out on some of Minecraft’s progression and just stick at iron and focus on the more sandbox elements of the game, while adding a skill tree could take away part of this freedom if that makes sense? It makes sense to have it from the perspective of someone who does like to get enchants and whatever and could definitely make the game more enjoyable, but it would also change the experience for some of these players. Which is why I think it would have to be handled very delicately and likely will never be in the base game.

This would be super cool. However, if they added it, I would want more creativity out of it. Especially the mining section. None of them feel special. It doesnt matter what direction you go in, its all basically the same.
I think they could implement it pretty well. As long as they didnt lock any key features behind it like building or crafting certain items because that would make minecraft even more grindy imo. And definitely no hearts above like 15 since that makes your character absolutely broken

I personally like the idea of adding rpg elements to minecraft and this mod seems pretty interesting but looks like it lacks much depth. Just 3 stat increases per skill with no abilities would get stale pretty quickly, atleast if you want to base your playthrough around the mod and not have it as just a small quirk in your vanilla playthrough, like you said it is.
This is not one of the better skill trees. The upgrades were way to insignificant and for most of the time doesn't change anything
You see, Minecraft was made for the player to have base stats that are sometimes a tiny bit amplified by potion effects, so if there was a skill tree added, Mojang would have to increase the difficulty exponentially
Would be a nice feature for adventure mode
Wheres the tree that has the skills didnt it spawn for you?
love the vid man keep it up
