Love these Orro Terra C bikes...clean cockpit is so_nice. Achilles' Heel for me is the tyre clearance. I'm in KS USA and prefer to run 40 or 42mm as we can get some nasty gravel mud here, looks like at 05:58 there really isn't room for a 42. Great review, how are you liking it after a year? Still running the 38mm?
Hi Steve. I still really like the bike and yep, still running the 38mm tyres, they suit the terrain and type of riding I do. Not that I have tried it but I am convinced that a 42 would fit, I do agree that it could cause a clearance issue in muddy terrain though. There does seem to be more bikes released all the time with greater clearance so think the frame design is a good few years old and they just updated the front with the new internal cables. Thanks for you comments on the video and glad you like it.
I've been running 44mm Vredestein Aventuras on my Terra C for the past couple of years without any issues. The mud in the south of the UK can be pretty gnarly too - hope that's reassuring!
Excellent review for the bike. I'm looking for a new gravel bike but with a clean cockpit. It's rare to see anything below £3K for that sort of cable management. Would have like to get the BMC Unrestricted but way more expensive and the cockpit cables are not as tidy as Orro unless I fork out for the £3.5K version. So I was considering this or the Focus Atlas. Focus Atlas rear mech cable comes out near the bottom bracket and tied to the chainstay with cable tie which just ruins the clean look for me. Also with the Orro and Deda Vinci cockpit it's possible to hide even that small amount of cable exposure, so Win!
Thanks. The Atlas does look a good bike also, but like you say, not as clean. Down side is that any headset maintenance will take much longer but hopefully it won’t need it too often.
Really detailed and useful review. Thank you so much. Just wondered if you considered Giant Revolt Advanced 2 or others in range? The 2 is similarly priced and spec'd and provides two-by. Thanks again 👍
Hi. No I didn’t consider the Giant as I bought it from my local shop who isn’t a Giant dealer. It’s a great looking bike though, very similar to the Orro but has better tyre clearance if that’s your preference.
The original bb wasn’t good as I had a problem on the first few rides a I don’t think it was fitted correctly from new. The shop I bought it from fitted a wheels manufacturing screw / press in version FOC and it has been perfect since. The screw together type for bb86 sounds a better option anyway so I would have fitted one of them at some point.
It would be good to see a couple of ride videos, I'm considering this bike, I'm the same height as you and have the same thought of an xl with a shorter stem. I can only see large in stock in shops at the moment though.
Hi James. I have fitted a 90mm stem and it feels great, definitely hasn’t ruined the handling. I have also got a Ritchey Venturemax bar to fit which is slightly wider than the FSA one. Unfortunately I am off the bike at the moment due to a fall so unable to do a ride video. Hoping not to be off for long so can put something together then. You could always try a large if you can find one in a shop, I was in between sized on the guide but think the large would have also been ok with the longer stem.
@@jonowinter thanks John, I emailed Orro and they recommended a large. I'm still contemplating a couple of other bikes. Hope you are back on the bike soon and I will look forward to a couple of videos.
I’m looking at one of these as a first step into commuting but also some light gravel stuff on a weekend. Do you think I’d be better with the grx600 version or the 105? I’ve seen people saying that the grx spins out if predominantly used on road and I think I’d be 70% road / uk cycle path. How do you find the faster gears on the grx?
Hi. Difficult to answer as everyone had a different preference. This is my first gravel bike with 1x as I was keen to try it but like you I was also not sure if a 2x would be better. The bike is a bit under geared for faster road riding but works great for gravel. I intend to use the bike for gravel so the grx600 is perfect but if I was to use it more for road riding then I would personally prefer a 2x. I do really like the simplicity of having only a rear shifter though.
Where did you find the weight limit for the bike with panniers? Now that I've seen this, it's the only thing stopping me picking this up, it's to be my only bike.
Hi Jon, thanks for putting this review up, this bike looks and sounds just what I am after for upgrading from a hybrid style flat bar 'adventurer'. I was just wondering about the sizing, I am a pretty regular sized guy at 6 feet tall exactly and am thinking along the lines of an L frame. I would be very grateful if you could give me an idea of how you size up with regards to the XL sized frame ?
Hi Neil. I think I did manage to find an official size guide somewhere online and I was almost right in the middle between L and XL. I am 6.2” and with a saddle height of 82cm from BB. I went for the XL, when I found out that it had an 110mm stem I always knew it was a bit too long for what I wanted but after looking at the geometry and comparing it to other bikes I always planned on putting a shorter stem on and a bar with more flare. I did also have a small test ride so would advise you do the same if you are not sure, as every bike rides differently. My Genesis cdf is almost exactly the same bar height & saddle height from the floor and same length to the bars but it feels a very different ride position. I have done a few more solid rides since the video and still really like the bike. I have ordered a new bar and stem so will see how it feels when they are fitted. 👍🏻
Hi! I really like it. I have put a 42t chainring on and the gearing suits the type of ride I do better and still give me enough low range when going up hill. It’s the also type of bike that could replace my road bike quite happily so no negatives to report, I have made a few tweaks to my preference though. The fulcrum wheel are good too and I am a big guy, still true and I still have the stock bar on as I like the shape. The price still looks good and the colour is still fantastic! Definitely happy with my purchase.
Great review, you're making me really want one of these!
Thanks very much. 👍🏻
Hi there. Is your saddle height set at 82cm in the video at the end?
Hi. Yes, it would have been set at 82cm.

@@jonowinter The Orro does look really nice though. I suppose I'm more road bias as well. Cheers
How’s the press fit bottom bracket holding out after a few months use?

There was a sticker on the frame by the rear rack bolts advising that the payload limit on a rack was 5kg.
Ah damn, I think I'll be going with the Dolan GXA instead then, shame, as the Orro is simply beautiful!

@@jonowinter Cheers. Going to go for a road set up with an extra wheelset for gravel.
Is that an XL?
Yes
You kind of look like Andrew Tate.
