  • Here is a quick overview of the FX Panthera .25 cal in the 600 mm barrel configuration. This video is just a quick demonstration of what the rifle can do out of the box with the turn of the power wheel.
This gun does have the dual tank option as the "Panthera Hunter" and is available on our website or in store.

I've got the 500mm in 30. Love it. Most consistent rifle I own. Throw the Huma double bottle adapter on it and slap a 700cc bottle up front. Tons of shots.

Now that's a good idea. I love the idea of the dual bottles

Not too many bugs with FX haha. At least not this far into the game. But the M3 is perfect for just about every situation.

No doubt they are good air rifles, BUT......at 200 yards, what energy is left?? I take all that into consideration, seeing I stick to Long range hunting ON PURPOSE, 200yards or better, the cost of air rifles is just laughable at best, who in their right mind would lay out that kind of money for something that's basically a toy when it comes to power, I just cannot wrap my head around it, it's baffling. Good video though.

      Thanks for the comment.
First, I don't think I'll be changing your mind, as it seems pretty set, but I understand where you are coming from so, hopefully this provides some context.
First, airguns aren't meant to replace firearms. Just like bows and arrows are not meant to replace them either. It's simply an option with its own pros and cons.
This particular gun wasn't designed to be a long range hunting gun. It was designed for PRS and NRL22 Competitions but it is capable of small game management at longer distances than any airguns before. Just like a rifled barrel took muzzle loaders to the next level for precision and distance, these guns are doing that for the air rifle world. Just like your handgun want designed to hunt elk though you may be able to accomplish that.
With the right projectiles you have substantial energy at long ranges with these smaller caliber airguns like .22, .25 and .30. In fact 500 yard+ shots have been done and filmed and are on TH-cam as we speak that are taking ngf small game. Justin Welch did 549 with a .25 cal Impact. Justin Jacobson from Utah Airguns beat that at over 560 yards.
The .22 cal airgun like this one is on par energy wise with 22 long rifle. They are literally producing the same energy but airguns are doing and it with more precision, no recoil and better consistency.
With big bore airguns 200 yards has been done many times (even though that's not the point of them). In fact, texas parks and Wildlife has a video on TH-cam of a .30 cal airgun passing through both shoulders of a deer at 200 yards so you can see it yourself. That is part of what set the hunting regulations for the state here. There is still enough energy to take big game past 200 yards no problem with big bore airguns.
Second (2a): the same point could be made about bow hunting but I don't see that coming from most people, yourself included. Even further, someone could make the exact same argument about you and your particular gun you choose to hunt with and refer to it as a toy and refer to the power of your gun's output as laughable. They could say you paid too much for a toy if to them the standard of power is a .50 cal BMG. If power is your standard then why waste time on anything less than a 700 nitro Express? Power is obviously not the only thing that you're paying for. If power is what you want to do then don't buy a small bore airgun. You can shoot past 200 with airguns and you need a high end airgun like this to do that. And thousands of people are leaving the firearms to do it with air. It's more akin to bow hunting. I'll even make the argument that airgun hunting requires you to be a better hunter than rifle hunting. You need to be more precise and thus a better shot. You have to be much closer in most cases and that requires you to be better at stalking animals. You do not have hydrostatic shock and supersonic velocities on your side. You have to be better in the elements and dead on. No slop, like a firearm provides you with.
2b. Airguns are currently more versatile than firearms for at least one reason, if not many. I can use an airgun in my backyard, in the city. If all I have are firearms then I cannot use them in city limits by law. Airguns open up a whole new world world of usability that firearms just can't because of the legality of use. Not everyone can own a firearm anyway. So, now I can use a .338 lapua for that half mile shot while hunting outside the city and use then my airgun for when I have pest problems that need to be solved in my backyard.
Lastly: The cost of the guns in comparison to firearms is much higher but for good reason. They are 100 X more complicated than firearms and the engineering behind an air rifle like this is vastly more complex than a firearm.
However, I could shoot 3000 rounds in a day with my airgun and be out less 200 bucks. Try that with your firearm. Your wallet won't be the only thing that hurts either, which is why literally thousands of people are buying these high end airguns and the market for them is exploding. Maybe you just need rich friends (joke)
Summary: airguns aren't toys. They are also not meant to replace firearms. They don't all cost 2000 bucks. They don't all do the same thing just like not all firearms do the same thing. They aren't meant to. To each their own but at least give a fair look and representation without being dismissive.

@@alamoairguns thanks for the reply, although I cannot agree with you on several points you made, I understand to a degree what your trying to relay, the hydrostatic shock with which you reference could be somewhat of a help to some, but for the most part I cannot take that as a helping aide on a target. As far as build goes, one operates on powder, one on compressed air, nothing really that technical about it. I see that you are versed on some issues on the craft, so your opinion holds some weight with me in being fair with you, what my personal skill sets are really are not important, but I will say that power does in fact have a lot to do with humane killing, which is why I questioned the power at distance, I'm very certain that I to could very well replicate the very shots you reference with whatever they are using, that's a matter of coefficients, windage, valocity etc, etc, and some math skills, I'm imagining the HUGE arc one would need to place that shot. Taking chances with uncertainty does not make one an expert marksman just to prove a point. With that said, a .22 cal 40 grain slug moves at roughly 1100fps, with about 110fpe, at what distance is it WISE to take a shot?? At what point does a true expert know his grains, and velocities etc ??. Power is a big issue, take the 6.5 creadmore 3,000fps and @ roughly 1000 yards 650fpe, or a .223 40grain moving 3000fps @1,100 fpe. Rounds are made to acquire a specific purpose, at a specific distance. There is no way a pellet has a good ballistic coefficient, maybe a slug, but the power to move that slug is limited, target shooting is one thing, live targets are another, and for me personally , risk management is a high priority. So it's possible that given the opportunity, I would probably like to see what the hype is about, but again, after knowing the velocity, grain weight, that would dictate my max yardage, irregardless even if I knew I could put it further. Again I'm not knocking you, or what other people may be doing, I just apply things differently because of my thought process and conditioning. Like of course I wouldn't shoot a rabbit at 800yrds with an 800grain slug from a .50 cal which has roughly 15,000fpe and a range of over 2 1/2 miles 😂😂😂😂😎😎😎😎 but I get what your saying bro 👍👍 I will look into it though, enjoy.

    • @alamoairguns
      @alamoairguns  ปีที่แล้ว

@@williamh6547 you're absolutely right about all of that (Except the air vs powder thing, a firearm just doesn't need to be as complicated internally as an air rifle. Because the valving and harmonic components that are very much more acutely turned and numerous than a firearm). That being said, we totally agree "Can" doesn't mean "should" and it is our responsibility to be ethical. But the technology in these higher end rifles, with proper projectiles, produce repeatable results that one has to test the boundaries of to better know "where is my limit".
Here is my offer. You get a hold of a .50 bmg and we go shoot a rabbit's at 2 miles and I'll let you come out down and shoot one of these absurdly priced pellet guns 😉
