This is awesome! I'm doing some skiing at Sugar Mtn, NC, in a few months and plan on combining some of your NC trip with this trip (back to middle TN). I just visited the area at the 3:38 mark last summer and rented kayaks at that historic Texaco gas station. Also drove down some of those gravel roads around there in my 3rd Gen 4Runner and didn't realize that was part of the TAT (didn't know about it at the time). Gotta see more. Sub'd. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video dude! I agree with the preferred season of travel, I love to be able to see thru the trees to the views. This past weekend in Wisconsin I was able to see so many lakes & waterfalls that get missed behind summer’s leafy veil.
Thank you! There are always a few. We have a few THOUSAND on our Nova Scotia video. Show me on the doll where the bad video touched you lol. Never going to make everyone happy
You mentioned the new Clayton and Fox suspension system but with no follow up comments. Could you do a video with your thoughts on it now that you have tested it some? I would love to hear them.
It was the nicest ride off-roading I’ve experienced. But we are doing a full install video. And I’ll do a more in depth video on my thoughts after a bunch more use!
@@OverlandPioneers Thanks for the reply. I look forward to both videos. I have heard good things about Clayton and your comment continues to confirm this.
You guys do a AWESOME job, would you give me the make/model & price of your Drone? The shots from it looks very professional, steady & clear. I'll take a guess it's a DJI mode XXX, Price range $850 - $1,400?????
This video is sick. I wanna give it a try with the ol’ 4Runner. I wish there was an app where you could just follow that entire section of the trail from start to finish on your phone.
are you guys doing 2 weeks at a time on the trail ? I’m looking to do this in pieces as a family guy it’s hard to get a lot of time to do it all at once . Great video!
Typically 3-5 days at most per section including travel to and from the start and finish. We are now on Oklahoma so from now on we are going to do 7-10 days at a time because it starts with a drive half way across the country
I'm sure you have done it by now I hope but if I could afford the trip I would go in my stock Ram 2500. Water is the only thing that always bother me. But TN creeks usually have a solid rock bottom so I wouldn't have to go fast and I would just hope the water is not to deep.
Oh yeah it's not to many of us pickupers left the most are them new fashion folks that drive Toyota and jeeps with all them fancy buttons and fancy words. My daily driver is just a old Dodge Ram 2500 single cab and my play work truck is a old 88 ext cab. K2500. Maybe one of them fancy folks will let me just sit on their fancy jeeps or Toyota it's been a dream of mine!

Copperhill was a day and a half and we had to skip a section in the middle that was closed due to a washout. So definitely plan for two days of relaxed beautiful riding
@@OverlandPioneers So plan for two days to do Tellico Plains to Copperhill/McCaysville, right? It doesn't look that far, but it's always hard to tell with those back roads. Just planning ahead. I'm going to do a Sat/Sun combo with a small group, so just trying to see how much we can get done driving during daylight in early spring (with a few stops to check things out). I was hoping to get to around Pratersville/I-75 in two days, but sounds like that might be too aggressive?
So me and a friend just got rangers and were looking for something very easy to do in a stock truck with some all terrains, would you all recommend this section?
A few ways. Typically gates are right at pull offs so a easy back up and turn around. Or a Austin powers 50 point turn. Worst case is back the trailer to one side of the trail disconnect after locking trailer brakes turn the truck around. Flip the trailer around and reconnect. Takes about 3 mins. So not bad.
@@OverlandPioneers okay. Tn is not near as strict as Nc. Nc is more serious about closing off national forest, the Nantahala, and pisgah national forests are extremely regulated and patrolled. They don’t always close the gates on December 15th, but that is the date that the signs say all of the non-essential roads close. (This is in my back yard and i am very frustrated with the seasonal gates and permanent closures, but just wanted to put the info out for others to know)
Great footage and storytelling. That cuban sandwich looked delicious!
It absolutely was!
Some say that guy is still waiting on that wrecker.
Awesome Video! Thanks for sharing your Adventure…
Nice job! I live in the Nashville area and just bought an F 800 GS, I will definitely be exploring the trail….
Love these trails you do. These are on my list to do some day. The west is great but these places look simply amazing!
Love Tellico Plains

Great video as always. Can't wait to take a trip out that way.
Cuban sandwich looked legit!
How am I just now finding this?! Well I now have fall break planning to do.
I said the exact same thing! I need the maps!!!
Another great video! Keep up the amazing work!
Looked like an awesome journey.
Looking forward to hitting the TAT soon and this give me a good indication of what to expect. We’ll done.
Did you do it? I wanna do the whole thing but I just decided today. lol
Love these videos. Keep them coming
At 2:05 me and my buddy cleared that tree! We were on that section of trail on March 29th!
Nice! I love that area we did it years ago on one of my first overlanding trips.
I wish I didn't have to work as much, id love to do something like this
Enjoyed it.
Who's the sad person that down-votes this?
Excellent video... you guys make a fantastic travel agency.

To All you trail riding guys I think it's great that you guys get to do what you love but could you drive a little faster out on the highway?
You sound like my wife
I want to do this trail with my fiancé just got a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon curious if I would need to get it lifted to get through everything.
Nope you would be just fine
Oh yeah as long as you have 2 tents!
Not gonna lie, 9:20 cracked me up!

A renewed DJI Air 2S on Amazon is 1000 with the extra batteries!
$10 says that trucker was trying to dodge a weigh station.
Wow beautiful trail. Is the trail GPX files available for Gaia? New sub here as well.
Absolutely! You can get it off the Trans America Trail website!
Does anyone know if that tractor trailer got out?
Does your Gladiator have a lift kit? I have a stock 392 with 35s and winch. Do you think it will be able to handle Tennessee trail?
Every inch of it. I was stock height at this point
Great video! What percent was paved road?
About a third of your time
This video is sick. I wanna give it a try with the ol’ 4Runner. I wish there was an app where you could just follow that entire section of the trail from start to finish on your phone.
There is. Download all the maps from the TAT website to Gaia GPS

I dig them Rokblokz man. Got 'em on my JTR. just saying
They are beefy and well made man!
Awesome video! Do you think a 2wd F150 with all terrain tires would make it through this trail?
Slow and steady…. Absolutely!
@@OverlandPioneers that’s perfect! Thanks for the info
what about an 18-wheeler (8:14 mark) - what in the world was he thinking??
Hey buddy I was just wondering have you gone down the trail yet?
@@Tommy-rr7ez if you are asking me. I have not
How do I find the trans American trail that you ran in this video? Do you have a download of route I can purchase?
It’s in the video description!
Just purchased the email version. Thank you so much. Love all your videos. Keep up the awesome work
I have a stock gladiator Rubicon, do you think I would be ok running this section? Especially with the water crossings. I plan on running it 12/26
The water was particularly high from rain so as long as it hasn’t been raining you should be fine
I went all the way to St. Augustine for a Cuban sandwich! TN would be much closer.
This is amazing! Really looking forward to doing this. Around what time in the winter did you do it?
December I believe
@@OverlandPioneers thanks!
I have a stock Jeep Renegade 4x4. Is this doable, or would I need something bigger like a Wrangler or Rubicon?
Nope you are good to go!!!
Do y’all have GPS coordinates of the Alabama section?
You can get them on the Trans America Trail website
So you did the Tennessee section in ~3 days?
3-4 long days
Do you think you can do this trail with a stock gen 3 ford explorer 4x4?
Yep
@@OverlandPioneers thank you
So much!
Can I go? I promise to behave!
@overland pioneers What trail is this?
The Trans America Trail
Did you find yourself needing the lift kit much? Contemplating doing it in a older pickup, without a lift
It was always nice to not worrying about bottoming out and made me feel more comfortable on the deeper water. But no. You can do it.

So many similarities between places like this and here in nova scotia..man the world is beautiful....however...we have great lobster rolls!! 😆

Through GAIA maps and CarPlay on the Gladiator

This whole section we missed and I wish we didnt. Maybe we have to go back.
