Hi Nick this is the receptionist, We apologise for that but I just changed pad lock on this day to secure access to swimming pool and rest of area which is closed right now , and we didn’t add any facilities on any platforms, and decreased the prices for guests satisfaction . we plan to maintain all facilities before opening. Thanks for posting this. I went on a school holiday here in 1987. We had a brilliant time and it’s brought back loads of memories. I remember the packed lunches for days out were fab. I’d stay there again to be fair, if only for nostalgia! Hard to make money in UK seaside towns these days. Glad it’s still open!
What a shame. It's such a beautiful building with some lovely features and rooms, but it needs a total refurb to bring it up to a decent standard. The games room would make a lovely space for functions. It could be a gorgeous wedding venue with private accommodation for family and friends. Good luck in the future Green Gables!
Many thanks for watching and leaving a comment, as a kid I can remember it used to be full every spring and summer like you said was an impressive hotel I think it had 4 star ratings. The staff are amazing I must say they will go that bit further to help you out . But they are against it .we did consider going elsewhere but due to the way we were treated we decided to stay .
What a beautiful building, it would be stunning with some money spent on it. I wouldn't complain if I spent only £35 per night and the owners seem quite thoughtful with all the snacks and drinks in the room. The worst thing is the neglected energy of the place and the brown colour scheme, but that would soon change if someone put in some investment. It has so much potential and could be a fantastic venue.
The staff are brilliant I can’t fault them I even said it was good selection of snacks . The down side was the general condition of the hotel and rooms . We could have shown more but decided not to . It’s very noisy and the beds are far too soft the mattress actually fold on you there that soft .we stayed for 2 nights costing just under £100 .its needs a hell of a lot of money spent on it to bring it back to what it was
A plus is that there were a fair few snacks. Some of the bigger chains seem to be cutting back on this aspect. I do like a cocoa and biscuits before going to bed and in my last few stays I took my own biscuits and drinking chocolate. A nice building with a lot of potential. The bird droppings were a major turn off. I hate noisy neighbours but I stayed in a posh place in Brighton and the noise from the street was unbearable. They did manage to move me to the middle of the building in the early hours. A fair review from yourselves.

Totally agree with you we stayed there earlier last year ,the room were cleanish beds very uncomfortable too soft .the receptionist was polite and helpful actually felt sorry for them ,as the rest of the hotel is in very bad condition.
Wait yours was 35 mine was 50! And we didn't get crisps or water or even a plant.mine also had blood on a mattress also don't go on the balconys as they are flimsy and dangerous!

Seems a bit of a harsh video title. The swimming pool wasn’t operational so to mark them down for that is unfair. For £35 it’s surely passable. Admittedly being unable to sleep due to noise would impact my appreciation.
@@lightningtree5432 firstly I would like to thank you for watching and commenting, if we could of found alternative accommodation on that night we would of stayed elsewhere. The hotel was dirty , the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and that sadly was the only plus side we felt sorry for them as they obviously have there work cut out for them . The building is full of damp smelly and in decline. Areas should be shut off and closed or refurbished. This used to be one of the best hotels and spas in Scarborough.
@@AndrewDaley-lr9qg the full price was almost £80 I got it cheaper with a discount code , it needs a lot of TLC and they need to change the pictures of the rooms on site we booked as they are nothing like the rooms . I used my discount code for the booking .as for the mattress we used our own topper as it was stained
