I've been really appreciating your videos. Little optimizations are super important! so it's nice to have some nuanced commentary for individual characters. Thanks!
The thing I did that ended up working really well was shotguns and high level wrenches. Shotguns melt down elites and bosses so hard and then once you get a t4 turret you can just stand around in the latter half, and then everything benefitting from projectile modifications is so much fun
Yes my screwdriver suggestion! This is the build I used and it is so fun. You basically are two different characters depending on when in the wace you are.
I just had a successful run where I ended with three nuclear launchers. Obviously they do a ton of damage in the ranged phase, but i actually kept them on for the engineering phase. They have such high base damage, that they still kept pace. You can also have dynamite and % damage scaling increase the numbers. (I did have some really high attack speed though, so that helped.)
Incredible, I don't think I've ever seen 3 launchers in one game! And yeah a number of the high tier weapons can get by on base damage alone, especially since %damage and attack speed still work fine!
Excellent! I was really struggling with this build, usually around 14 or so I would just get overwhelmed. While I haven't tried this out yet, I'm sure it will be good when I do. Subbed, liked etc. Thanks a bunch!
Anyone struggling with this on Danger 5, the new patch adds a unique rare called “nail” that scales all weapons with 20% of your engineering. This turns cyborg into a free win, as you can just go standard gun build with no penalty and be OP as hell.
I actually find Cyborg extremely powerful if you go 5 planks + Minigun. If you’re not going endless, pivot away from all engineering weapons into hard hitting ranged weapons and you’ll melt both elites before your stats convert.
Slowly been making my way through the Brotato playlist videos I missed before, and just watched the Multitasker Engineering guide this morning. Once you make it through all the characters, might be fun to revisit some classes and do the more powerful builds where you picked a more fun or unique build the first time? (or vice-versa if you did the strong build the first time)
Yeah, I have some challenge runs with weird weapons planned for certain classes, and also I should probably recvisit some of my oldest guides because there's definitely choices I make that I would NOT make now.
Smooth! I beat danger 5 cyborg with SMGs... melting the enemies in the first phase (lot of ranged damage) and having a decent second phase thanks to an early pocket factory and some knockback.
11:37…. Dude I can’t make this up - I’m watching your guide while doing a run and LITERALLY as soon as you said obliterator I ended my wave 7 shop and got an obliterator 😂
I talk about this a lot in my character tier list, but basically I think it has a very high burden of knowledge for the player - it's very strong once you know what to do and how to play around the downsides, but it's also very complex
Hmmm, this one took roughly 10 attempts before clearing a D5. Definitely on the harder side of things compared to other characters ive cleared D5 with so far! Things certainly become a lot easier if you manage to get a 2nd minigun to drop, something which i didnt for over half of my attempts. Ive now cleared D5 with 25 out of 44 characters & looking at your vid, Entrepreneur is next on the list!!!
I actually really think SMG is pretty good on Cyborg, as long as you get decent rng in your shop and get a few turrets and mines, you're completely fine, you actually make elites and bosses a joke by doing this.
You're welcome! I think cyborg is one of the characters that needs the most changes in playstyle from other characters, so this build is built around making it as intuitive as possible hopefully.
Wanted to try this build when trying Cyborg for the first time and then i got ChainGun on wave 10, combined with bounce i could just AFK for the rest of the game.
The most bizarre part of this character is that the confusion of swaping to melee in the middle of the game. I found that extremely difficult...... Especially when your own projectile messing up the board while I'm trying to dodge.
I just did my first run following this guide, then getting a Chain Gun on wave 18. Both bossos MELTED in under 5 sec, and the scaling gets even better in the second half. I yolo'd the run into endless where I got a SECOND CHAIN GUN on wave 31 with double bonus piercing and 100% pierce damage. The run died bc I got oneshot on wave 40 before I could oneshot back, now I'm kinda sad because I never got this far and I really wanted to see how far I could take this build.
Damn, we both basically did the same thing (except I didn't know the scaling on the screwdriver and went for wrenches): I also found a purple minigun right before the boss fight (whilst I already had 2) 😂
Thank You for these guides. It’s hard to know if ranged damge applies to turrets. It’s little things that make us better players. Btw I don’t know if any stats boost turrets
I notice you do this on most characters, and I think in particular it is not optimal here. You DON'T need to fill out your screwdrivers early. This is because the set bonus for screwdrivers is engineering, which is basically worthless for you, and because the scaling does not improve, AT ALL, when you upgrade screwdrivers (the dps increases slightly, but that's only because the attack cooldown of all weapons drops as you upgrade them. ) I find you often have a bit of desperation in your wave say, 8-12 item choices, and I think that is often just because you have more weapons than me, and fewer items than me. And this is because I am buying items in shops 1-3, and then rerolling into even more items, whereas you are locking items in shops 1-3 and therefore, basically denying yourself further item rolls even though you are rerolling heavily. I have yet to feel any sense of urgency in buying items in my shops for cyborg. I consider it a fairly easy character. I never feel my cyborg lives or dies based on how many weapons he has, it's how many ITEMS he has. So I buy items early and just let weapons come along when they come along. I personally prefer dakka builds, because I just feel it's pretty trivial to stand on top of an incendiary turret, and for the first 6-7 waves, 1 damage smg's and a 3 damage minigun are still clearing the map just like a 40 damage minigun would be. Also, I think %damage is completely pointless for cyborg. You don't need it in phase 1 to clear the map, and you don't use it in tier 2 when you stand on top of an AOE turret and let it fight for you. What I want as cyborg is a nonzero amount of lifesteal, some knockback, at least one AOE turret (incendiary, basically, which I find I reliably get), and then just start buying every engineering structure I see, every ranged damage I find, and some mitigation. Going into this character, it looked intimidating, but what I realized as soon as I played it is that "oh, a minigun with no flat ranged damage upgrades is STILL A MINIGUN. I also have a strong bias personally in trying to line up my held weapon tags to get the silly version of every character. the silly version of this character is chaingun cyborg, as of course, the scaling of ranged damage and engineering is equal on chaingun, so when you hit the halfway point of the wave, your Chaingun actually just doubles in dps. Chaingun cyborg is unrecognizable from regular cyborg (or it would differ, if cyborg didn't reliably just end the game in the first half of wave 20 with room to spare) , and if you have all gun weapons in your inventory, you are more likely go get offered guns. (I think, I am not sure how character tags work with regards to shop weapons.)
I've recorded about 40 hours for youtube, and I do a practice run before every video, so somewhere around 80-100 hours is my guess. Does the math actually work the way you said it does? Usually character's modifications affect other modifications--does your 75% Engineering reduction affect the Ranged --> Engineering conversion?
It does, yeah - cyborg is for some reason the only one templated this way instead of the normal way, so you get the full 2 points. I personally think it should always show *both* numbers for clarity - ie cyborg would say "gains 8 (2 after reductions)"
Definitely not quitting, but I'm trying to find a good way to integrate playthrough content into my video schedule (probably as livestreams, but need to move some other commitments around to make those possible). i found 4 miniguns on my run, i felt like a T 800 lol
Interesting! That also scales with engineering of course, so that makes sense. And yeah finding additional ranged weapons helps a lot

Pocket Factory does solve a ton of issues for this character all by itself, and the pure ranged damage builds are great!

True - I mention in the video that you don't need to upgrade screwdrivers since the damage doesn't scale, but then do so out of habit anyways.
Whatever them explosive guns are they boosted by range damage but still deal hella damage after debuff
Had to try this build... It's sooooo easy with that!!! I should have not tried wrench with classic engineering build. :/
I beat the cyborg by going smg's and then just dodging the last half of the wave lol
you insta kill elites and the bosses which is fun at least
Also very strong, minigun with lifesteal basically makes you invincible even if you aren't doing damage.
