The biggest issue is the guy designing the animations has no idea how an actual HEAT / HESH round works. It actually peels a scab of steel off inside the tank - zero penetration. The 20-50 kg steel scab rattling round the tank at mach 1 does the actual damage.

I love how most shells have slow-motion and satisfying animation but the HE just freezes for a nanosecond and explodes as soon as it makes contact
