I am a 72 (and a half) year old woman. My front door had rot at the bottom on one side, both the brick molding and the jam was rotten. I followed your directions, started at 7:45, had to run to the hardware store to get sharp blades for my oscillating saw, and finished at 10:50. I measured twice and cut once and my pieces fit the first time. The sun came around and I had to stop, tomorrow I will fasten the pieces and caulk. Thank you for suck a good video, it was perfect!
This is perfect timing on this video. My mom called me asking me if I could fix her door jam and replace the weatherstripping. Super useful video and full of info. I will have to call a few friends and see i can use their saws though. Keep 'em coming!!!! I do a lot of diy projects, that saw would come in real handy for and save me a bunch of time!
Thank you for watching and commenting. If you need any pointer for your project you can direct any questions to my website paulstoolbox.com. I will do what I can to answer any questions. Have a great day! Paul
I'm happy to say I have this down pat and didn't need the video, but for someone who isn't competent at this job, they couldn't ask for a better video. Cleary thought out with simple instructions even a novice could follow. Keep up the good work, Paul. Bravo!
Hi David, 1st It's always good to hear from you. 2nd I really appreciate input from experienced viewers like you and I look forward to seeing your projects in the future. I am working on a site that will allow viewers to upload their before and after pics. We will have tool giveaways for winners on this site. Keep up the work my friend! Paul
Being a woman Handy-person has been one of the best moves I made in my life. Paul, you’ve been a big help with all your tips and tricks. I am a true follower of your TH-cam page. Yes, I am subscribed as well. Thanks again for another fantastic tip. Have a wonderful day!!!!
Hi, thank you for this video. I am a Habitat For Humanity volunteer and have been for the last 11 years. I love watching and learning from so many videos. Looking forward to more of your videos. Take care…….juanita
I just finished replacing the entire door jamb on a garage passage door where both bottoms were rotted out. the old threshold was also rotted away so I replaced that as well. Using the original door meant that I had to match the butts as well. Actually saved the customer some money over buying a complete door pre-hung door. Great Videos Paul. You have a new subscriber. Thanks!
It sounds to me like you know what you are doing my friend. I'm sure I could learn tips from you as well and I really appreciate you taking the time for me! Have a good day buddy! Paul
Why did I have to resubscribe to your channel? Been watching you for a few years now and I went from a home owner who couldn’t put paint on the wall 8 years ago to a home owner who did a full dismantle and rebuild on my bathroom, tore down and built my fence, and lots of projects around the house largely thanks to you. Thanks again for the videos Paul I wish I could work under you and really learn.
My wife told me to explain why I like your videos. You explain why and what you are doing pointing out what tools to use which is always helpful. I recently repaired a soffit based on your soffit video, which was very helpful. I know sending stuff to N.Z is a nuisance but I really like that saw; you can't get them here.🤓 First in the country to have one hmmm🤔
Hi Guy, I hear New Zealand is beautiful, one day my wife and I will be able to travel and I hope to see your country! I am working on the companies to try to get them to ship overseas. If it happens we will both be happy. Thank you so much for watching my videos I really appreciate you! Paul
great video! just subscribed to your channel!! I'm a mother of 8 and grandma of 4 so far! We have always done things needed to be done by ourselves.. so pleased to have found you on the web
This is very helpful...my house was robbed and the door jamb was heavily damaged from someone's foot... This made so simple and I had it done in less than an hour. Thanks alot for the advice.
I just watch about 4 videos of repairing door jam and yours was very helpful. The best so far. I'm convinced to do it myself and will get both of those tools. Or win one!
Thanks Paul, great video. My back door jab of my house I bought last year was destroyed by the previous owners dogs. I didn't know were to start to fix the door. Now I know exactly what to do. Thanks again. Excellent channel.
Thank you for watching and commenting. If you need any pointer for your project you can direct any questions to my website paulstoolbox.com. I will do what I can to answer any questions. Have a great day! Paul
Thanks Paul, I have never tried this repair and are delighted to have seen this first. I am a late bloomer when it comes to these things, but soon realized that I enjoy it , instructional videos such as yours take full credit for that. I just purchased the Rockwell tool today, have been thinking about one of those for a while, so glad to get the review and recommendation. Keep up the good work and thanks again.
Hi Grace, Thank you so much for your comment, you won't be disappointed with Rockwell! If you have any questions or concerns with your projects, please contact me at www.paulstoolbox.com. I will do my best to help! Thanks again! Paul
Great video, I am a DIYer and I enjoy watching your videos. They are realistic for DIYers and I learn something in each of the videos you put on here. Thanks for all your helpful tips, I enjoy learning new tricks. Keep the videos coming. I am about to replace the brick molding on my house soon also.
Hi Andre, you just made my day better! Look for PVC brick molding, it doesn't rot. Thank you very much for watching my channel and especially commenting! Paul
Great and timely video. I have 3 rotten door jambs that need to be taken care of before winter. Now I have the confidence to get started with the repair. Thanks.
Hey Paul, being a new homeowner your vidoes have saves me lots of time and headaches i thought it was cool using the autobody tool to get in tight spots im buting one today. Thank you paul and your toolbox for all the cool tricks which make total sence man you saved me time. Sincerely Dennis Whalen
Another great video. Since my retirement last year, I am slowly getting into woodworking and doing more house renovations and repairs. Enjoy watching and learning from all your videos, very helpful to me. Thanks.
Looking forward to your tool demos, I've seen tools you use that I've never seen. I really like the Worx cordless saw. Oh, I also appreciate the craftsmanship you show in your work.
Hi Troy, I really appreciate you buddy! Worx has a few tools that I really like and this saw is pretty cool. It seems to work well for me but I would like to see a couple of improvement. It comes with a 2 AH battery so I bought a 4AH backup that has a light indicator, it shows how much charge you have. I wish that came on the original battery. They also sell a 30 min rapid charger and the one with the saw is a 1 hour charger. Thes are minor things for a DIYer and I must say that I really enjoy this saw. Thank you for talking the time for me! Paul
I saw your video for first time because I have the same problem. Was extremely helpful and need that circular saw. I’m teaching myself from watching videos when I’m not sure. Hope I turned on notification. Thanks from Delaware!!
Paul, Thanks again for showing me another way to fix my door jams. The back door is perfect. The dogs have chewed up the left and right jams and the brick moldings. Now I can fix this without buying a new steele door. You save me money!!! But I need the right tools. 😁 Help a girl out.
You are Awesome Linda, I love to see my female viewers that take on their own tasks! I would love to see some pics of your projects. We are going to add a site that will allow my viewers to send pics of their projects and we will have tool giveaways for that as well. Please stay tuned and keep up DIY projects. Have a great day and thank you for watching! Paul
Paul, I really like your work. Enjoy the videos. Can't imagine 800 for that job. It takes all kinds. Some people love to rip older citizens off. Again, great job.
Perfect timing for this video I was wondering how I can replace the jam on my back door. The dog has decided he needs more wood in his diet. Great video very informative
Awesome job - great video! I really appreciate the tip of beefing-up the area behind the strike plate. All blessings to you & yours, our military, police, firefighters & first-responders!!!
Hi Mel, Thank you for the nice comment. And thank you for the blessings. I really appreciate it. Blessing to you and your family too. Have a Great Day! Paul
I love your channel. I have two doors that I need to replace. The guidance was very helpful. The saw looks like it’s a big help to make precision cuts. Thanks for all you do to help us novice DIY’ers..
I appreciate that you are so kind, thoughtful and considerate to take the time and effort to share all of your knowledge with everyone. I'm sure you could have completed that job in very short order but because of all of the camera setup and shifting it around the job took much longer than it would have. You're a GOOD man, Paul. Thank you very much!! GOD bless!!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate you commenting! It does take a lot more time when filming but it is well worth it. I sometimes get jammed up and I have to do projects without filming and I am always sorry that I didn't. Viewers like you make my day! Have a great day and God Bless you and your family! Paul
I have searched the web for this project repair and finally came across your video and it is so perfect! You really explain the steps so clearly without un-needed details that are obvious to even a first time diy person! Very clear speaking with every step! Thanks for posting to help others! Great Job!
I need to replace my inlaws door jamb sometime this month. The builders didn't put shims behind the jamb so now after 20+ years the door jamb is outta square. Good useful tips, thank you and that's is a handy saw.
This couldnt have come at a better time! Im about to replace my back door. I had a deck that held water against the jam. It caused rotting and eventually a gap between the door. Thanks for the help!
Good morning Chad, I hope this helps you buddy. If you have any questions please send them to www.paulstoolbox.com. I will do my best to help. Have a good day and thank you for watching and especially commenting! Paul

Wow! Watching all the way from New Zealand!!! Thank you for watching and especially commenting. I appreciate it. I have some new videos coming soon, so please subscribe and hit the bell so you get notifications of my new videos. Have a Great Day! Paul
Hey Paul yes I do property maintenance and sometimes I get tricky jobs and so I need advice so, not wanting to appear like a dummy, I check out TH-cam and sometimes there you are. Although my wife likes Americana I like to please her by using American type projects to fix things around here too. I appreciate someone who knows what he is doing otherwise I would not watch your videos. Keep up the good work🤓
Thanks for the pro tips, Paul. I do as much of my own DIY work as possible. The ridiculous prices quoted by some contractors are the primary reason I do most of my own repairs at home. Most of it is straight forward enough, although your advice ensures a speedy and economical way of completing the task. Cheers.
Glad I found your channel, Paul. I was looking for info on how to replace doors. I was shocked to find out just how much I did NOT know. You have a wealth of information and you're a great teacher. Many thanks!!!
Great video, Thanks.. I am a DIYer for EVERYTHING... been REBUILDING my current home. Your tips are great & valid... Specific tool notations are great too, if anybody wants to buy that specific too they've seen you use. THANKS AGAIN for you excellent work ethic & professional standards to get things done the RIGHT way..... not JUST GOOD ENOUGH... Seen alot of that and that's what prompted ME to become a DIYer... I have quatlity control & if it doesn't look right, I"ll do it over again. PEACE
As usual Paul, another great video for us DIYers. I've hung several doors in my DIY time but so far have never needed to do a repair like this one. But, now I know I could if needed. Thanks, and keep 'em comin'!
Hi Ed. Thanks for the comment. If you have any questions you can contact me on my website www.paulstoolbox.com. I would love to help.. Have a Great Day! Paul
Thank you Ed, I try to reply as much as possible, I appreciate each and every viewer that takes the time out of their busy day to watch my videos and comment to me. The reason why I ask to direct questions to my web site is because I may miss your question once a new video comes out because I may get comments from older videos and I have over 120 public videos. I also work full time as a firefighter and I have 2 Patents on the market that require constant work. Have a great day buddy and I look forward to seeing some of your projects! Paul
I have this same problem. Im a single mom so trying to teach my son as i teach myself to be more handy. Now i gotta figure out how to cut angles w my circular saw. Thanks!
Hi Paul, Lovin that Rockwell multi-tool...may have to get one for my home projects. The comment from the one guy where his ex-wife slammed the door so hard she broke it was priceless!!! Thanks again for another great video my friend!
Gret video and very timely. I need to replace some exterior jambs and was thinking of just cutting out the bottom section. Wasn't sure how to tie the two back together.
Hi Earl, Good luck on the jambs. If you have any questions you can ask me questions from my contact page on Paulstoolbox.com , I will do my best to help. Have a good day! Paul
Paul, you've produced yet another well done, useful video of a real-world DIY project. I've learned so many tips and techniques from you. Thanks. One last thing, the cutting guide rail on the WORX circular saw: Brilliant! Be well. -Nick
Nice fix liked both your saws ! That’s exactly what I need to do to my pole barn door. Nice to see it done like this ahead of time so I know what to except. Thanks
Great presentation, Paul! Right to the point and explained so that even a novice can grasp it. I have a similar situation that I now feel comfortable in being able to attack.
Thank you Paul for all the helpful videos, they have helped me tremendously, I am a licensed electrician and your videos help me tackle a number oh home projects
Great video and right on time. I have to do this on a bathroom door because our dog got stuck in the bathroom and tried to chew her way out by chewing on the door frame. Thanks Paul
Well done. Love your simplistic explanation. Gives me confidence to do jobs like this. Anthony From Australia. PS. Would love one of those saws please. Thank you A

65 years young and I think you are showing everybody how simple it is to do things with common sense and simple hand tools. Thanks friend your awesome

The link for the weatherstripping video is just what I needed. My dog's nails has put several holes in it as he excitedly wants to get out the door.
I have three doors in my garages that need this seam repair. Now thanks to your video, I will be able to do it myself. Thank you.

Oh, I also appreciate the craftsmanship you show in your work.
Hi Troy,
I really appreciate you buddy!

Paul Ricalde Wow, didn't expect a reply. Thank you for the assistance.
Thank you Ed,
I try to reply as much as possible, I appreciate each and every viewer that takes the time out of their busy day to watch my videos and comment to me.
Paul

Hi Ady,
Have you moved to the States yet? If so, where are you now days?
Great presentation, Paul! Right to the point and explained so that even a novice can grasp it. I have a similar situation that I now feel comfortable in being able to attack.
This video was very helpful, I was looking to repair rotten wood around my door as well.
Thank you Paul for all the helpful videos, they have helped me tremendously, I am a licensed electrician and your videos help me tackle a number oh home projects
this fellow's vids are always helpful and effective. good job.
This was a very clear explanation about replacing a single door jamb - great job!
Thank you A
Great video I love how you show what tools you use. Definitely getting that multi tool
The trick for finding the angle at the threshold is great. I have a garage door I’m getting ready to repair, this will come in handy.
Hi Sharon, You are awesome...... I wish everyone could tackle a job as well as you! Thank you so much for commenting, you made my day!
Paul
I admire you for repairing it your self.
lol...I laughed when I read your post...Im a 61 year old woman living in Maine, winters are hard on our door jams and im finding great resources like this when I need some insight...If I had to contract for every repair ive done Id be homeless lol
Excellent video, I can’t wait to do my jams!
Hey Karen, how’d you like to make a few bucks doing that job for me.! Young lady I’m a lot older than you, 73,and don’t evenhave my own oscillating saw.
Wow, you make it look so easy... that is from years of experience. Thanks for thoroughly explaining everything. I will be watching this video many times when I tackle the dreaded job of fixing my door. As an old Navy man use to say many times when he completed a job... and fitting here as well, “A joy of beauty and a sight to behold”!
