Early 1970's, bunch of us kids, had 2 nice downhill runs in a glen. (And the daily construction site jumping ramps) I think of the bikes we had then and see these amazing bikes they have now, and runs. Takes me back. Great video. Safety stuff, na baba na. we survived. P.S. The Stars and Stripes jerseys are simple bad ass, Go Team USA!!!!
Please tell me your joking? This seems like a regional event as far as quality, fans, hype, and excitement. You really watching UCI DH? Frankly, go watch NORBA DH US events in late 90s and early 2000s and it’s also a whole other level. This looks much more like a junior regional event than a US National.
Yes it’s recorded after the event but it’s not scripted and not in a studio. Will emcees the race so he knows ahead of time what happens at the finish line obviously but these are mostly one take recording on first watch of the race runs. He purposely doesn’t want to see them ahead of time so he gets excited.
First time this year that I can understand the English of the person commentating, for some reason UCI thought it was a good idea to hire the Frenchman from “Tallageda Nights” to commentate on Downhill races 🤷🏽♂️
I’m a new MTB fan, so forgive the stupid question, but how is this a National Championship if it is the finals for the Downhill Southeast series? Wouldn’t that be a regional title rather than National? Or is it a situation where multiple series in the US hold a “national,” title championship? OR, do I have too much time on my hands? 😅
Definitely a reasonable question. First off, stoked to have you as a new fan of the sport! The confusion here is the show sponsor vs. the event itself. This replay show itself was "presented by" the Sram Downhill Southeast series, but this race was not part of the Downhill Southeast series. This event was the USA Cycling National Gravity Championship. The Sram Downhill Southeast series funded the production of this show so the National Championship could be viewed globally even though it's not part of the DHSE series. Pretty sweet bonus!
My friend put this bike together for his son and before I knew it he was done th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L When the son came to put it together he was surprised to see it was already done. All he had to do was take the bike to get air and be on his way. My friend did not have any major problems putting this bike together; small issue was putting one of the brakes on straight; however when the son got home he was able to fix it. The bike rides well gears move correctly; good bike for the price. Wrote review after the son took the bike. Sorry.
No wonder the US can't stack up to the Euro riders. This practically could of been a small section of an uci xc race, besides a few man built features. What a lame event. I feel for the riders that flew all the way back to the US for a flat track event. I heard next years race is in Nebraska, should be a exciting.
What a lame National Championship (no offense to the riders). That course sucked. Pedaling everywhere. Small spectator crowd. Where's the steep and technical? How could this determine the best downhiller in the USA?
Im 65 and thats cool 👍
heck yeah, way to crush with the coverage! the track and the event looked like dialed

World cup commentary is live, this commentary has been recorded after the event in a studio so it would have been edited and possibly scripted.

No more REDBULL World Cup DH Events from back then.
Shame about the coverage 😅
