And apparently pay a a ridiculous amount for a ride in an ambulance, so you get severely injured people REFUSING the ambulance because they don't wanna incur the cost. It's insane.
@@diarmuidkuhle8181 Yup, I was in a band with an ambulance driver in the USA, he explained it to me. Ambulance companies don't end up getting paid by many of those who ride in them. They collect well below 50% of the bills they send out, mostly because so many people who need them don't have insurance and can't afford the bill otherwise. Sadly, it's the poor who need the most ambulance rides. The boundless success America has had with the "war on drugs" is a big reason for this, as well as gun violence, the opioid epidemic, an aging population, etc., all contribute to why so many broke people need ambulance rides here. Because say 3 in 10 "passengers" end up paying, they have to charge thousands of dollars to everyone (so essentially those 3 who pay cover the ride for themselves and the 7 others who couldn't pay). Even those who have health insurance will end up facing a co-pay (as explained in the video) of hundreds of dollars typically, for an ambulance ride (because our health insurance system is a massive fraud). Now that it's widely known how expensive ambulance rides are, there are many people who are refusing them when they need them. These are the folks that care about their credit score. They could just become one of the many who don't pay, but then their life gets a lot harder, financially, for years to come. So in the end, the failures of our government to prioritize the national health has forced our emergency care system into this model where the ever-shrinking middle class foots the bill for all ambulance rides, and the insurance companies pitch in what they feel like, which is shrinking as well. If it sounds unsustainable...

As long as there are enough people getting hurt / sick / old, it doesn't matter if they get better (in fact, it's better for all of those companies if people don't), it just matters if they have money. The reason this isn't corrected for the benefit of the population is that these same healthcare companies, along side the rest of the titans of the private sector (banking & private equity, defense contractors, energy, etc.) have purchased the US government decades ago, and have installed their people in all of our highest ranks of government.
