How to make Mead - Quick 30 day mead from honey, water, and yeast

Simple delicious meed recipe. 4 gallon batch.
This batch took a little longer then 30 days because the room temperature where i had originally stored the carboy was below what the yeast needed so we put it next to a heater vent after moving it to a bucket. Because of having to move it 2 times i ended up losing about a gallon of the batch.
Ingredients
4 gallons of spring water
12 LB's of honey
1 package of Lalvin 4x4 yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons of potassium sorbate (optional)

@@simonmalm92 It actually quickly evolved into something really big! The mead is beyond amazing and there have been about 8 batches by now. Looking to go commercial and exploring what it takes to start.

To speed up the pouring of the honey sit it it warm water but dont let it get too hot.
Also by using luke warm honey its easier to mix and it starts fermenting sooner.

Should have heated the water the put honey in that way the yest can feed on it better making a better mead. But great video love that ur passing the knowledge along

I took some shine and mixed half honey and half shine in a bottle and let it sit for a day, the result was actually very good. Not sure if that would be considered mead but it's good tho.

I'd personally boil an extra packet of the yeast to provide some nutrient , but a good simple recipe
Warm your honey in a pot of warm water it will pour lots faster
If you simmer the honey for an hour, it causes the mead to ferment a little faster and a lot clearer, and it has a really nice caramel flavor.

It is my understanding that adding air to your brew can ruin it causing it to turn into vinegar?
Na that's more with beer. you wanna get that yeast in there when making wine. Never had a bad wine and I've made so many. Have had a couple bad beers though because they are real finniky.

Yes you move it to clean it up. The bucket was my secondary. after 2 weeks you always wanna move your wine, and leave behind the sludge in the bottom.
Pasteurized your honey with water on the stove, also need to discard the foam as you're cooking it.

Mead is necessary for when impatient beekeeper jumps the gun on harvesting pre-capped honey (which spoils when harvested) or honey contaminated with sugar (pre-spoiled) is in the combs.
It is a measure to take when impending starvation is the alternative

Which yeast did you use??
Hope you already found out what yeast to use and got started on your mead, if not, you can use almost any yeast to make meads, but wine yeast are good because they preserve honey (and fruit) flavours well, clear well, and also make the lees at the bottom more packed. Most use Lalvin 71B, D47 or 1118 which you can get at any brewing shop, or Amazon, for ~$1 for a pack which works up to 5-6 ga. For 1-3ga carboy use half the pack.
