Being a Cornish man, living in the Redruth area all my life, every summer I always drive to st ives then lands end and home in my baby, which is a ford Capri, mk3 , mid 1983 model. Seriously I'm treated like a celebrity.
Thanks for the comment Graham, it is great to hear from a fellow Cornish Capri owner! It's too good a drive for us locals not to enjoy it on sunny days, and I hope to spot you out-and-about at some point in the future. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video, I hope you stay tuned.
I really enjoyed the Lands End views. I was there in 2006. Amazing. Love the Capri and would buy it off you. Been ill all week and that is how I discovered you TH-cam. You're a great speaker. Very clear! Bless.
Thanks for the comment and sorry to hear you have been poorly. It is great to know my videos have been a source of entertainment. 👍 I do enjoy my Capri, it is a great car. I've not really thought about selling the car, but if you are genuinely interested then please get in touch via Facebook or Instagram as we can have a chat. Thank you for watching.
Great Capri memory jerker that for those of us that drove them for a living. I had every confidence it would make the journey walk in the park for it. ( True story alert ) one of our guys picked one up from the Police garage that had been in for a faulty fan, he responded to a job requiring an emergency run, when he arrived he noticed the temp was up and an ‘ orrible smell. Lifted the bonnet to find the plastic fan had become detached and had melted like cheese over the engine, gently shut the bonnet to get transport to turn out and pick it up on a tow truck.
Was it a Gtr Manchester car by any chance ,I remember the police having the Capri's in the 80,s ,as I owned lots of 3 litre Capri's in the 80,s and 2.8 s they were fabulous things to drive , thanks . I'm sorry Gary just realised you was gtr Manchester , I think we met once in Heywood in the early hours you in a 2.8 , about 85. and me in a silver and burgundy 3.0 S for a check , happy Ford days eh Cheers mate 👍
Thanks for the comment and for sharing the story about the Police Capri, it must have been stinking! 🤣 Thanks for watching, I am glad the video brought back some memories.
The Capri 2.8 Injection always did have a nice exhaust burble and the Mustang will be constricted by modern emission and noise regulations, but yes... I do agree! 😎
Hello Andy Another brillant video so much enjoyed it and if im honest .. yes the Mustang is gorgeous but my old heart (at 54yrs) is for the Capri woth the MK3 always bringing back the Dodie and Doyle memories of that silver 3.0s Your 2.8i has done you proud mate and ive said many times to the wife id love to retire to Cornwall as im a Class 1 lorry driver and love the place with many a night out at Truro football club, a really lovely place take to capri would be Fowey and get some pics in the old harbour, and a real test is Pollock hill in Minehead. Looking forward to the next video and well done on 10K subscribers 😎 Drive safe mate Nigel 😎
Thanks for the comment Nigel and sorry for my delayed reply. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the video (and the Capri!), I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks also for the suggestions of where to visit; as a Cornish car channel I do try to share my cars and Cornwall so you can expect a few more Cornish roadtrips in the warmer months! Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support.
Thanks for the comment. I was genuinely surprised about the MPG on the Capri, it did really well and I hope is a decent indicator that the engine is in good health. I suppose we should expect the 3.0ltr to be less frugal given the carbs, but what a lovely car to own and drive... and it doesn't really matter if you enjoy driving it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment, I’m working my way through the electrical issues with a fair bit of success. Hopefully you are following the Capri updates here on the Channel. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely love your capri if I was doing the trip you did I’ve have a stack cassette tapes at the side of me play a few level 42 and nick kershaw tapes and go back to a better time can’t wait for future videos of your fleet
Thanks for the comment Steve, it is great to know you like the Capri and my other cars. Hope you stay tuned and look forward to hearing from you again on future videos.
Thanks for the comment and suggestion. As I am never going to take the Capri to a really high standard (I want it to be a car I am happy to drive whenever I want), I think the suggestion of a classic in appearance stereo with modern internals is a great idea! Stay tuned to the Channel to follow the progress with my Capri and thank you for watching. 👍
Congratulations on the 10k subs. Your channel deserves 10 times that amount. I’m trying to persuade my friend to get his 1986 2.8 injection out for the summer and head for John O’Groats.
Thanks for the comment, I really do appreciate the support. Hope your friend has got his Capri out - I’ve never driven Land’s End to John o’Groats, but I fancy doing it one day. Thanks for watching.
Really enjoyed this video, I’m so impressed with the Capri’s mpg! Also congratulations on the 10k, well deserved. Also loved hearing about your subscribers.
Fantastic video. Love both cars. Having recently bought a 2.8 injection capri myself with a similar running hot issue I found this very interesting to watch. Well done .
Thanks for the comment, it is good to know you like the Capri. We had a great drive and, as you say, made all the better by being issue free. Thanks for watching, I hope you stay tuned.
Car looks great, and of course Cornwall is epic. You’re gonna have to have a look into those tail lights though, they’re really dull, I’d suspect you need a clean earth point to bring them up a bit …… Otherwise, I’m envious!
Thanks for the comment Dave and for the advice on the lights - I am making progress with the electrics and will continue to share updates. Thanks for watching, I hope you stay tuned.
Your just like me lol , I'v had 25 different makes since the 70ts,, some high end used cars ,, but the 2 that stand out are the one I have now a MK 1 Ford Focus 1.6 Autamatic 2004 , and a Merc 190E .. I love your drives,, Im the same always listening always aware of the revs and match up speed,, My Focus cost me only 550 Euros and i changed the water-pump and fan belt, new Oil with Oil " additive".. its now after 4 years been all over Ireland without a hitch .. 149,000 miles now after 19 years its still going great.. just saying its a future classic.
Thanks for the comment and I completely agree about the Focus Mk1, it is a future classic (and an excellent, well ahead of its time car). Sounds to me like you have a nice car history. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. 👍
If you think about it these Capris are about 1150 1200 kgs and is burbling along at 70 at about 2500 rpm as ive owned them myself , the mpg doesnt suprise me but start driving briskly around up and down the box its a different story , great cars Cheers all you fellow Capri nuts 👍
@@cornishcarcollectors yes they sound great don't they but the 3.0 cars had more depth and bass to their sound due to them having 3 exhaust outlets on the heads so they were three in to one exhaust on each side as the 2.8 only has 2 outlets from 3 cylinders , subsequently being two into one on each side ,I know because I've had about 9 of them back in the 80,s Cheers pal , proper cars .
Well done for the 10k subs, I’m love if the content and I wondered what was the name of the piece of music that you always use the really basey one at about 3:30
Thanks for the comment and I appreciate your recognition of the 10K subs. 👍 The music is Living Pulse - Midnight Train (stock music in Filmora, which is the software I use for editing). Really good to know you enjoy the content - thanks for the support and I hope you stay tuned.
I never doubted the capri one single minute ad you are a sensible driver you took it nice abd gently the whole way. My mother had the last ever mark 5 corytina made aftet she passed my father started it up and left it ticking over then i had to borrow the cortina to take it from worcester to paignton some 180 miles i drove it 6,000 miles in 3 months trouble free driving and this was a motorway car that didnt see the motorway much in its life all it cost me was the items for a service which i did myself If you treat these cars right they will do over 100,000 miles before getting tired
Thanks for the comment, and for sharing both your thoughts on the Capri and your Cortina history - cool. Must have been lovely rolling around in your Mum’s old car knowing she (and your Dad) had treasured it. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on firstly passing 10k subs and secondly owning that gorgeous Capri 😍 That little road trip would have done it the world of good around those gorgeous roads. Hope to see the mk3 Focus RS in future vids 🤞 All the best 👍
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback on the 10K subs and the Capri. 👍 I think both the car and I benefitted from the drive, it really was trouble free and so much so that I took the Capri to a show on Sunday covering another 120 miles. The RS Mk3 will indeed be back on the Channel - I am resting it up for July, but hoping to get all of the cars together at some point. Thanks for watching.
It's fair to say that probably 90% of people get lost driving into Cornwall Services. Bizarre approach layout but, in balance, very nice staff at the coffee stop.
Thanks for the comment. You are quite right about the layout of Cornwall Services and I was pleased to see the Mustang arrive... eventually! Thanks for watching.
I subscribed just to push you past 10k! I really do Love the Capri ❤❤❤Keep doing lots of the right historically accurate stuff to it, slab of concrete in boot etc..! What would be nice would be a CB radio and a couple of grasshopper aerials trailing out the back whipping in the air pure class!!! Only joking but do think about purple fluffly dice please!
Thanks for the comment Brian and for the sub; 10K subscribers was a great milestone to pass and I continue to be surprised (and happy) to know people are continuing to tune in. Dice are in order! 😂 Thanks for watching.
A great trip in great cars. I used to drive that busy section of the A30 in my lorry and cursed the single carriageway and not being able to overtake tractors. It'll be great when it's all dual. :) Anyway, that mpg. I thought the 'stang might edge it too but, it's good to know that the 40 year old ECU in the Capri was doing it's stuff so efficiently. I guess that a carb version would probably have been a lot thirstier. Congrats on the 10,000 subs too. :)
There is no ECU it's got an electronic dizzy and standard coil and Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection that simply balanced fuel to airflow with a tapered needle not a dissimilar concept to an SU carb. No sensors, even the 'choke' was a bi-metallic mechanical device that metered a bit more fuel and air to be fed. There was a control box for the electronic dizzy but that's all.
Thanks for the comment and appreciate the recognition of the 10K subscribers. MPG really was a surprise to me too. Both vars were a joy to take down to Land’s End. Thanks for watching.
Well done on reaching the 10k subs & another great video. Having owned two Mustangs & Nissan Skylines etc. My Capri always gets the most thumbs up & attention out of all of them.
Thanks for the comment, I really do appreciate the feedback and the support. I’m always surprised at the number of thumbs up, waves and people pointing then I am out in the Capri, but what really surprises me is the age range of people who love seeing it… retired folk to kids pointing. The Capri legend will live on long after interest in many cars of the same era is lost. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment, it is great to know you enjoyed the video. I never get bored of the St Just to St Ives road, it always feels like real treat. Thanks for watching.
A great video and good memory lane stuff of queuing usually near Exeter as a teenager with mum and dad on our way to Bude. As a Ford man you do a great job of making me happy and remind me to get my sorn 02 Focus Tdci back on the road. The video was great, when we visited Cornwall starting in 83 all the journeys were in warm Fords, 83 was my parents Sunburst red XR3i, same in 84, a return in 86 with a black D plate 3i followed by 88 and a black Sapphire GLS with saff cos boot spoiler at my behest! Our final visit was in dad's Radiant red G plate Escort RS Turbo series 2. I've never been back down since, the Ford love affair continued with my own escorts, dad's last a 95 RS2000 4x4. I've discussed 3.0litre capris recently with Jack aka number 27, there's some debate which is the most torquiest the Essex or cologne, either way the Capri and your others are lovely. Congratulations on 10k it won't be long before it's 25k. Best wishes. Ben
Thanks for the comment Ben and apologies for the delayed reply - it is great to know the video brought back some fond memories. Looks to me your Dad had some wicked cars; must have been cool to have all those desirable Fords as family cars. Nice also that you had a Sierra GLS - I hope you have seen my video on the GLS here on my Channel? Thanks for watching and hope to hear from you on some of my other videos.
Great content again, did you manage to fix the sunroof? No offence intended, you could have got the parts cheaper by not getting them from the Capri Club. I like the alloys from the “special” but the pepper pots are the correct ones for the car, plus they are super cool.
Thanks for the comment - sunroof is tilting nicely, but the slide grates a little and I’ve marked the paint. Job for another day! Thanks for the advice re. parts supply costs and for sharing your thoughts on the alloys. I will source some originals at some point so do stay tuned. Thanks for watching. 👍
Thanks for the comment, it is great to know you enjoyed the video and both cars. Graham's Mustang is a UK spec, so do not believe they have the sequential directional indicators. Thanks for watching, hope you stay tuned.
Was always a ret lover of the capri very jealous of you my dream garage mk1 rs 2000 mk2 16 sport mk2 Mexico mk2 rs2000 and last but not least mk2 16 harrier
Nice dream garage there 👍 Great to know you like the Capri and hope you stay tuned to see how the car progresses. Let's see if you remain "jealous" when the inevitable big bills start to land! Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support.
The Capri is looking good! Have you considered replacing the fan itself? They can disintegrate (on other makes) and make quite a mess. I replaced a twenty year-old 100k fan to be on the safe side. Just a thought...
Thanks for the comment Ben. Whilst I prefer the 7-spoke alloys, you are quite right that the Capri deserves its original Pepperpots (and black grilles) at some point in the future. Stay tuned as I will feature it all here on TH-cam. Thanks for watching.
I bought my red 2.8i in August 1991. I drove my capri through the night setting off at 11pm and did 345 miles arrive near to Perranporth. During the holiday in May 2013 I stopped off at lands end. I had a tent and a cycle in the back. During the holiday 7 different people came over to ask about the car and some used to have one. My car made it there and back no problem.
Thanks for your comment and for sharing your experience and history with your 2.8 Injection. I can appreciate how long it took for you to leave the car park with the passersby admiring your car. Thanks for watching.
@@cornishcarcollectors well the car park attendant in the booth thought it was a 3 litre as he used to have one. I also own a MK1 3 litre GT ford capri that is now an ETCC ford "works" touring car replica in blue and white with 16 inch 3 piece split rims and a box arch body kit with a duck tail spoiler.
Andy well done on the 10000 subs and the capri is getting better and better it sounds lovely and I had no doubts it would make it bet it was a joy to behold just listening to that wonderful v6 my old neighbour had the same engine in a Granada mk2 v6 and was as fabulous! Graham’s mustang is a beautiful car as well has he let you drive it? Beautiful pictures of lands end it’s one of my favourite places Keep up the hard work look forward to the next one! Daniel
Thanks for the comment and continued support Daniel, I really appreciate it. I have had a little drive of the Mustang, but not the type of drive where I could open it up a bit - I will feature the car here on the Channel at some point and be certain to take it for a drive on camera! Thanks for mentioning the 10K subs and your kind feedback on the Capri - there remains lots to do but I'll get there. Thanks as always for watching.
I used to get on average 35mpg from my 2.8I Special on longer runs. Daily commute 28-30mpg. Fit a K&N filter and fine tune the mixtures and they are not too bad unless you flog it everywhere. Those expansion bottles were hard to come by back when these cars were current, probably near impossible now.
When I've finally saved enough money I'll be making the same trip in a Pinto engined Capri ;) I'll film the lot but it'll be the first of many road trips 😜
Thanks for the comment, I hope you get to drive your Capri (I am a big fan of the Pinto engined cars) to Land's End. Thanks for watching and for subscribing, I hope you stay tuned.
Thanks for the comment. It is good to know my Capri (at nearly 40 years old) is delivering consistent mpg to when nearly new (ish). Suggests to me the engine is healthy, so I can focus my attention on the bodywork, etc. Thanks for watching the video.
A nice post, glad the Capri won. In the USA of course the Mustang was always king. In the late 70s Mercury brought in some Capris and they were hated, having that small 3.0 V6 Cologne engine vs a V8. IF Ford USA had engineered a V8 in the Cologne body shell, it may have got traction , but they defended the weak Mustangs with ugly bodies post 1980s. Ford wanted to protect its Mustangs and so .. death to the better looking Capri MkII and MkIIIs. Great video and congratulations to the Mustang driver on not veering off into a hedge as many Mustangs since.
They were most definitely not "HATED" and actually sold quite well. The buyers of the Capri were not interested in the Mustang and vice versa for the Mustang buyer. The Capri buyer was interested in a sporty good handling European vehicle with good performance and economy and the Mustang buyer wanted straight-line speed and the ability to tailor their vehicle to their exact specifications via the option sheet. The reason the European Capri was discontinued in the United States why is because the Deutsche Mark why is increasing in value against the dollar and eroded any profit.
Thanks for the comment, it’s great to hear from you - glad you saw the cars ‘in the steel’! Next time come and say hello. Did your wife prefer the Mustang? Is so, then I remember you both walking around the cars when parked under the “Land’s End” sign, as a lady said she liked the Mustang and her husband said he’d prefer the Capri! 🤣 Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and hope you stay tuned to my Channel.
Being from America, those measured gallons are Imperial gallons. Correct? I thought the MPG seemed a little exaggerated(to the American consumer). Adjusted to U.S. gallons. The Capri achieved 25.2mpg, while the Mustang did 20.3mpg. My personal 2009 Mustang GT 4.6L gets roughly 21-22mpg on the open road(highway or freeway out here). Back in 1985, I owned a Federal market(North America) version of the European Capri. It was a 1973 German built 2600 V6 with a manual 4 speed transmission. Being a broke college student back in 1985, I had to drive from Los Angeles(where I was attending college) to San Diego(where my family lived) on only 5 gallons of fuel. I made the 127 mile trek on 4.5 gallons for an average of 28.2mpg. I did drive at the then national highway speed limit of 55mph the entire trip for fear of running out of fuel. Considering the lack of an overdrive transmission, being carbureted, and with a points ignition system, the old gal did tremendously IMO!
Thanks for the comment... I am not sure if the Mustang is just massive or the Capri is small in comparison to modern cars?! 🤷♂️ It's probably a bit of both. Thanks for watching.
Great channel. I get my weekly dose of nostalgia here and I love all the cars. I always wanted a 2.8i Capri when I started driving in the 80s but couldn't afford one back then. I've always been a Ford fan and had a S2 RS Turbo in the early 90s and a Focus ST (Volvo 5 cylinder) in 2010. Keep the videos coming as I always look forward to them. They make me want to scratch that 80s nostalgia itch but I wouldn't know which car I would buy as there are so many cars from that era that I love. I was on holiday in Saltash in May and had a week of terrific weather. Last time I was in Cornwall was when the kids were young and the poor village of Boscastle was flooded (2004 I think). I'd love something I could use as a daily driver (maybe a Mk1 Fiesta XR2 or Mk3 Escort XR3i).
Thanks for the comment Gary and sorry for my delayed reply. It is great to know you enjoy my Channel, I really appreciate it. I've never owned (or driven) an Escort RS Turbo... but it's on my list! 🤣 Look forward to hearing from you again on future videos and good luck buying yourself a modern classic Ford when the time's right.
The consumption figures didnt surprise me in the least.modern cars have just got to big and heavy.capri looked and sounded great, but then again so did the mustang.its to big tho.i assume the mustang exhaust is partially manufactured to where the capri is natural.enjoyed that, its bin about 20 years since i last went to lands end and that was in my xj40 daimler 4.0 litre.its a good 300 plus miles for me tho i would think lol.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts on the cars. Also, I hope the Lands End journey brought back some memories - must have been a nice roadtrip in your Daimler. Thanks for watching.
Hello from Burry Port, 15 miles west of Swansea. You may already know, but if you don't, are you aware that both BP and Texaco E5 actually contain no ethanol at all ? My motorbike on tank stickers show that I could use E10 if I so wish but I prefer to use quality fuels. I tend to alternate between cheaper diesel and the pricier stuff for the Peugeot 306 TD though. My car road tax is due on August 1st and has jumped by £30 to £325 this year. Yours is free, Jammy !
Thanks for the comment and the advice on fuel, much appreciated. Looking forward to being tax free, which actually will not happen for the Capri until the end of next year... but it'll be good when the time comes. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment. The 2.8 Injection Capri really is very fuel economical, I was surprised, but from your comment it has been your experience too. Your engine sounds healthy and I am pleased to report that mine is as well. I hope you keep watching my Channel, thank you for watching this video. 👍
Love the Capri, pity it's so small, I've always driven either 4.0, 5.0 or 5.8 Aussie Falcons and though I learnt to drive on a RS Capri in the early 70's I loved the car but it was just too small to fit ....
Thanks for the comment. My first experience of a Capri was back in ‘86 when I was 8 or so years old. The Capri certainly seems smaller today than it did then! 😂 Thanks for watching.
I almost bought my cousin's Capri RS 5 speed when I was a teenager. Deal fell through when he found frame rust, unfortunately. That was the U.S. version. Gotta say it pales in comparison to the much prettier UK version!
Thanks for the comment and for sharing your story - shame you did not get the car, but back then a rusty Capri was not worth buying... these days even the rough ones make strong money! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment. I do not believe Paul has a channel, but he plans to attend many of the local car shows next year so I'll ensure I capture a bit of footage in the future and share here on my Channel. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment, great to know you like the car. If you mean the Capri, then it all depends on your budget! I am a big believer in buying privately, so Capri owners clubs, groups and forums are a good place to start. Otherwise, it's the usual places - eBay, Autotrader, PistonHeads, Car&Classic, etc. Good luck with your search and thanks for watching.
Great video brings back memories of me sitting in the back seat of my uncle's who needs new cars driving a 21 year old subaru I've had from new no issues in that time keep the videos coming
I've owned an 'A' plate 1984 Injection for nigh on 29 years. I've enlarged the engine to 3000cc Kent fast road cam, stage 1 heads, fitted a 230 Bhp Turbo Technics system- gross output is 285-290 Bhp 300 lbs ft of torque at 3,500 rpm. Mpg on a motorway run? 30 mpg all day. Great video overall. Love the Mustang- but it's TOO bulky and corpulent. Note how like all modern cars, it has tall slab sides- high waist line- dictated by NCAP safety dogma- it means the car looks heavy on the road. Also, if you watch the footage of the Capri following the Stang on the B road, whilst the Capri is easy to place on the road, the Stang regularly goes over the white dividing lines into the opposing lane! Modern cars are too big and bulky, but the public have been conditioned into accepting it. 5.0 V8 or not, I bet my 290 Bhp Capri would leave it for dead on a twisty A or B road- too much weight and bulk in it. The Capri is svelte by comparison.
Thanks for the comment and sharing details of your Capri, which sounds awesome! Agree that modern cars, particularly the really large stuff is difficult to place on the road and less engaging to drive as a result. Thanks for watching, it is great to know you enjoyed the video. 👍
Do like a Capri❤ The car I always promised myself and ordered one in 1980 Then my boss said it's time you had a company car, go cancel your Capri and tell them to order a Cortina for you and charge it to us. Decisions. Cortina was 👍 But still never had a Capri😢 Or even a Caprigeeagh 😂
Thanks for the comment and sharing your story... so close and yet so far from Capri ownership! 🤣 A brand new Cortina must have been brilliant though - what model did you get? Thanks for watching.
@@cornishcarcollectors 1.6L Typical rep car of its day, did its job. The Capri was gonna be a 2L 😥 But then in those days company cars were a free add on to the salary. Not taxed like today so went with common sense.
Thanks for the comment. As you say, old Fords never die... some say they just get faster, but in my experience they just get more expensive! 🤣 Lots of fun though and I intend to continue to improve the Capri so please do stay tuned to follow the progress. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful capri, not a lover of yank tanks, full of plastic with no character, nice engine, but thats it,capri all the way for me,the 2.8 is doing 100 mph standing still, love it!

I really enjoyed the Lands End views. I was there in 2006. Amazing.
Love the Capri and would buy it off you.

I do enjoy my Capri, it is a great car.
Thanks for the comment and for sharing the story about the Police Capri, it must have been stinking! 🤣
Thanks for watching, I am glad the video brought back some memories.
The Capri sounds so much better than the mustang pulling away.
The Capri 2.8 Injection always did have a nice exhaust burble and the Mustang will be constricted by modern emission and noise regulations, but yes... I do agree! 😎
Me too
No surprise, mileage wise,, that Mustang is most portly,, and bigger! 💜💜
Thanks for the comment. I thought it would be close, but did not expect the Capri to top 30mpg! Thanks for watching.
Hello Andy
Another brillant video so much enjoyed it and if im honest .. yes the Mustang is gorgeous but my old heart (at 54yrs) is for the Capri woth the MK3 always bringing back the Dodie and Doyle memories of that silver 3.0s
Your 2.8i has done you proud mate and ive said many times to the wife id love to retire to Cornwall as im a Class 1 lorry driver and love the place with many a night out at Truro football club, a really lovely place take to capri would be Fowey and get some pics in the old harbour, and a real test is Pollock hill in Minehead.

The 2.8 I was not bad on fuel i have had several 3.0 and no matter what you do its about 25 absolute max. 20-22 for normal driving.
Own a 2.8 capri myself.
As for your electrical fault, start with the easy thing first, remove & clean all the fuses & fuse box in the engine bay 👍
Blupunkt do nice retro looking dab+ stereos with modern features that would suit that beautiful capri 👍
@@cornishcarcollectors Sadly he didn’t get the car out. He’s had it since 2006 and it’s overheating. Looks like the fan is the issue.
Really enjoyed this video, I’m so impressed with the Capri’s mpg! Also congratulations on the 10k, well deserved. Also loved hearing about your subscribers.
Thanks for the comment and support, I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
Fantastic video. Love both cars. Having recently bought a 2.8 injection capri myself with a similar running hot issue I found this very interesting to watch. Well done .
Thanks for the comment, it’s great to know you enjoyed the video and good luck with your Capri. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic looking Capri looks like you had a great day out made even better when you have no problems
Thanks for the comment, it is good to know you like the Capri. We had a great drive and, as you say, made all the better by being issue free. Thanks for watching, I hope you stay tuned.
Car looks great, and of course Cornwall is epic.
You’re gonna have to have a look into those tail lights though, they’re really dull, I’d suspect you need a clean earth point to bring them up a bit ……
Otherwise, I’m envious!
Thanks for the comment Dave and for the advice on the lights - I am making progress with the electrics and will continue to share updates.
Thanks for watching, I hope you stay tuned.
Your just like me lol ,
I'v had 25 different makes since the 70ts,, some high end used cars ,, but the 2 that stand out are the one I have now a MK 1 Ford Focus 1.6 Autamatic 2004 , and a Merc 190E ..
Thanks for the comment.
A burbling Capri is one of my favourite things; I enjoy every start up and every idle! 😂
Thanks for watching.
The music is Living Pulse - Midnight Train (stock music in Filmora, which is the software I use for editing).
Really good to know you enjoy the content - thanks for the support and I hope you stay tuned.
I never doubted the capri one single minute ad you are a sensible driver you took it nice abd gently the whole way.
My mother had the last ever mark 5 corytina made aftet she passed my father started it up and left it ticking over then i had to borrow the cortina to take it from worcester to paignton some 180 miles i drove it 6,000 miles in 3 months trouble free driving and this was a motorway car that didnt see the motorway much in its life all it cost me was the items for a service which i did myself
If you treat these cars right they will do over 100,000 miles before getting tired
I think both the car and I benefitted from the drive, it really was trouble free and so much so that I took the Capri to a show on Sunday covering another 120 miles.
Thanks for watching.
Heaven , the most beautiful car ever, and then the second best ford mustang. Thank you for post
Thanks for the comment - great to know you like the cars (with the Capri in top position!). I appreciate you taking the time to watch. 👍
Nice Capri ❤
Thanks David and thanks also for watching, I appreciate it.
Great video!! I was driving the stJust_st Ives road yesterday, it's stunning,, apart from the custard yellow pub !!!!! 🏴👍
Quite lovely,, that Capri,, I also love that Mustang,, I noticed your friends sequential signal on his mustang wasn’t working!! Great video
Nice dream garage there 👍
Great to know you like the Capri and hope you stay tuned to see how the car progresses.
Thanks for the comment and for the advice. I’ll look into it.
Thanks for watching.
If you're going to keep it i think you should get a set of pepper pots, they were the original wheels after all..
I would love either one of the cars but the Capri 2.8i for the nostalgia
Thanks for the comment and for sharing your thoughts on the cars. Appreciate you watching. 👍
Thanks for the comment and for the advice. The Capri is proving much more economical than I expected! Thanks for watching.
Such a nice Capri just love it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Capri, I appreciate it.
When I've finally saved enough money I'll be making the same trip in a Pinto engined Capri ;)
I'll film the lot but it'll be the first of many road trips 😜
Thanks for the comment, I hope you get to drive your Capri (I am a big fan of the Pinto engined cars) to Land's End. Thanks for watching and for subscribing, I hope you stay tuned.
Wasn't at all surprised by the mpg - I had these back in the day and they were pretty good (ie 26-30mpg) even when driven enthusiastically.
Thanks for the comment.
It is good to know my Capri (at nearly 40 years old) is delivering consistent mpg to when nearly new (ish). Suggests to me the engine is healthy, so I can focus my attention on the bodywork, etc.
Thanks for watching the video.
I had a couple of capri 2.8s and mpg was quite good .
Thanks for the comment and for sharing your experience Dave. 👍
THAT IS THE 10K PASSED SIR! 👏👏👏 according to my TV 🎉🎉🎉
Appreciate it, thank you and thanks for watching. 👍
Thanks for the comment. 👍
Me and my wife followed you in to lands end also saw the car parked outside said to my wife I would have your car to the mustang
Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and hope you stay tuned to my Channel.
@@cornishcarcollectors yes that was us 😀 I do love Old Ford’s takes me back when I had afew of them
Being from America, those measured gallons are Imperial gallons.
Thanks for the comment and yep, imperial gallons. Sounds like you did well to get 28mpg. 👍
Thanks for watching.
That mustang looks huge 😮
Thanks for the comment... I am not sure if the Mustang is just massive or the Capri is small in comparison to modern cars?! 🤷♂️
It's probably a bit of both.
Look forward to hearing from you again on future videos and good luck buying yourself a modern classic Ford when the time's right.
Capri = Beast :-)!
Thanks for watching; great to hear from a Capri fan! Hope you stay tuned.
Full marks on the road trip but, blimey, Lands End? It's only a tad less bad than pottering off to Plymouth.
Ha! You are quite right, but I still felt it could have been a big ask for the Capri!
Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Thanks for watching.
Does Paul with the blue 2.0S have a Chanel?
Thanks for the comment. I do not believe Paul has a channel, but he plans to attend many of the local car shows next year so I'll ensure I capture a bit of footage in the future and share here on my Channel. Thanks for watching.
Love the car! Any recommendations on where to buy one?
Thanks for the comment, great to know you like the car. If you mean the Capri, then it all depends on your budget! I am a big believer in buying privately, so Capri owners clubs, groups and forums are a good place to start. Otherwise, it's the usual places - eBay, Autotrader, PistonHeads, Car&Classic, etc. Good luck with your search and thanks for watching.
@@cornishcarcollectors thanks for the advice

How many car guys have patted the dashboards at some point! LoL.
Thanks for the comment and I’m glad I’m not alone with the “patting of the dashboard”. 😂
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
Do like a Capri❤ The car I always promised myself and ordered one in 1980
Then my boss said it's time you had a company car, go cancel your Capri and tell them to order a Cortina for you and charge it to us.
Decisions.
Cortina was 👍
But still never had a Capri😢
Or even a Caprigeeagh 😂
Thanks for the comment and sharing your story... so close and yet so far from Capri ownership! 🤣
A brand new Cortina must have been brilliant though - what model did you get?
