  • A short video outlining the some of the key differences why the Mercedes Marco Polo Horizon made more sense to us as a campervan (and everyday driver).

    Thanks so much we’ve been researching the Marco Polo vans and have just test driven a VW, lovely van not what I’d want for a daily drive.

      Hi Martin. Compromises on both I am afraid. The VW is arguably a better camper but the MB is a hugely better car. As you spend more time driving it than camping in it, the choice was easy for me.

    Thanks for this. I’m starting to research these and struggling to find any info! I’m interested in how practical this would be for carrying bikes inside and then still having what you need to convert the bed when I arrive. Any luggage carrying videos would be great!

      I assume that you only need the top bed? If so, but you need to go to a dealership to test, this is my suggestion. The rearmost section of the bed can be removed. I would take that out, then push the rear seat far forward. I reckon that would create enough space to place a bike lengthways (about 6 footish). You may even be able to put fittings into the airline rails to secure the bikes vertically (using the bolts I use on my kitchen). Then, depending on how many bikes you are thinking of carrying, you would still have a fair bit of room for packing around them. Alternatively just store everything on the rear seat / in the drawers. You can also buy storage boxes for the airline rails from Daimler (but they are expensive).

      Otto the Mercedes Marco Polo Horizon Campervan thanks for that. I’m going to make a trip to a dealer soon.

    Great video. I’m looking at a used Horizon. How do you find it as your daily drive. Thanks?

      Hi Michael. Best described as half way between a van and a car. The real wheel drive definitely makes it more car like, but you still get roll around bends which isn't surprising given the size. The big difference is that it is well refined as standard, so when you sit it in it just feels like a big car and is very comfortable. I don't think I would go back to a car - good combination of luxury and practicality. Basically use it for everything with ease - just one multi-storey car park that has been out of bounds due to the size so far! Obviously recommend you take one for a long test drive though...

    Hi there. I just got one of these and am very confused about the leisure battery. Does it run the 12v sockets at the back or do they only run when the ignition is on?
    My main concern is running a compressor fridge which I thought I could do overnight from the leisure battery.

      I run mine from the 12v sockets at the side of the rear passenger bench. They are on permanently.

      @@ottothemercedesmarcopoloho1995 Ah that's great. I'm hoping mine is the same. Some people claim they don't have a leisure battery. Maybe it's an optional extra and not fitted as standard.

      @@mug7703You can check. If there is one, then it is under the passenger seat (UK). To see it, just unclip the storage holder under the seat facing the door.

      @@ottothemercedesmarcopoloho1995 ah thanks. I took a look and I noticed I have a battery under the driver seat. I am in the Uk. I assume that’s the leisure battery?

      @@mug7703 That is the main battery. The leisure battery is under the other seat.

    Where’s the rest of the campervan? It’s missing the kitchen, fridge, roof, bed? I thought the Marco Polo came with these.

    • @ottothemercedesmarcopoloho1995
      @ottothemercedesmarcopoloho1995  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The roof bed is in the video. You add the rest yourself small spaces style! See some of the other videos to get an idea of our kitchen, fridge etc...

      There are 2 versions of MB Marco Polo campers. The 'Marco Polo 'Horizon', on review here and the Marco Polo 'Sport', which has the full kitchen etc.
