    To answer your question about why the loader goes faster in reverse than in forward. When you are working, be it loading or pushing or what ever, you need the machine to be stronger to do the work, when you put it in reverse you want it to go faster so it saves time geting back on your next line.
    A loader isn't really made for digging. It is made for loading, of course, and stock piling. The more efficient way to muck a pond would be to use your excavator to pull the mud and throw it out for the loader to put it in your stock piles.
    Love the content. wish I was nearer, I'd be happy to help you out.

    If I ever won the lottery I would buy a big chunk of ground and buy every big piece of construction and farming equipment I could. Then let people come out and run the equipment like a giant sand box with Tonka toys for adults.

    Don’t worry about getting a super full bucket full. Remember 20 half scoops = a way lot more than one super stuck scoop. Especially with that over sized bucket you have. Also in soft ground don’t always drive in the same tire tracks; especially if you’re dragging bottom.

    A big THANK YOU to Dave from Husker Heavy Equipment so subscribers to LEAAD Farms can get a look at the CAT 980K with Cale as the operator. Impressive machine!
    Good news: no cab corn on the 980K.

    Cale, Before I retired from trucking. I drove a truck with a dump trailer. I hauled out of limestone quarry and they had the same liaders as your workin with. If we had some bad storms that flooded the quarries we would have drive to a dry stop where the loaders would drive thru the limestone slug and water to get our material we wanted. They would clean out pits that had the slug and water mixed durin dry weather. Never once as I can remember none of them ever got stuck. I don't think you'll have any problems.

    When I was a young man in the Air Force, I often drove a 10K wheel loader fork lift. If I drove that on the road over 20 MPH, it'd start bouncing like crazy and scare the #$%^ outta me that it was going over. It's hard to teach a 20-something that slower is better, but I learned.

  • @JakeFlash

    You had me rolling on the floor laughing literally--I fell back in my chair while laughing. What you called manual transmission on that Caterpillar is a big technology improvement over what I used that had an automatic transmission. What you call automatic was in the same realm as Star Trek. And, to make it funnier, we had a separate manual control for nearly each hydraulic cylinder (some work in pairs, of course). Automatic leveling was good hand-eye&balance coordination.
    I hear that front end groaning for grease every time you raise the bucket with the camera outside the cab there. That was an awesome view looking back at you from the bucket.
    Now if only you could do a split-screen video showing that view, the view from your glasses, and a view looking straight down at the hand and foot controls to see the effect of what you are doing with your hands and feet. But, hey--it's your video. You do what you want and I'll still watch.
    Edited to add, "and tilt back," referring to the action of the bucket when I hear 'groaning for grease."

  • @StevenStyczinski-sy8cj
    @StevenStyczinski-sy8cj 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wearing your seatbelt is crucial to a long and healthy life. If you ever took and shook a can of paint and heard that marble rattling than you might know what has happened to and killed many operators that didn’t think they needed to wear a seat belt because they are in an enclosed cab. May they rest in peace.

    I run 980m everyday 10k hrs + exp. Mine machine is a bit different, but it appears you have a broken grease line on the top right lift cylinder, and you have a lot of wheel spin going on, I get that it’s mud but if you back off the power and ease back in you will dig in much better. Also rack your bucket so your not spilling shit everywhere. And don’t use that stupid auto lift/tilt crap. I turn that off the second I get in everyday

    Is there even room in the wheel wells for chains on those tires?

  • @george8873
    @george8873 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the biggest issue with that machine in mucking out the pond where you're not getting full buckets is the tires on it aren't really made for that kind of work. Need tread more like tractor tire treads so you can really get traction and dig the bucket in.

    YO CALE! Yet another educational and FUN video! Horn is a little disappointing but overall, Yes, I would love to try that thing out. Curious, does the general public / non farmers usually avoid using the roads around you and the other farms in the your area? Thank you and GO PHILLIES!!!

    • @scottsoper

      The general public does not have to actively avoid their farm because it is too far out of the way. The general public just will not be around there if they are going about their own business.
