A contemporary artwork on canvas that looks as if we were painting metal due to the effect obtained

- Hello everyone! In this TH-cam art tutorial, we're going to create a unique piece using a special technique with aluminum foil. First, we'll create an amazing texture by attaching aluminum foil with matte medium, deliberately forming folds to give our base an interesting and dynamic appearance.
The uniqueness of this piece lies in the succession of layers we'll apply. Some of these layers will be left to dry completely to prevent the colors from mixing with the subsequent layers, while in other cases, we won't let them dry, allowing the colors to blend naturally. This approach lets us play with different effects and textures.
The main technique I use in this project involves applying a lot of water. This creates an effect similar to paint droplets, which, combined with the layering on the aluminum, mimics the wear and corrosion of metal. The final result is an artwork that combines elements of texture, color, and a worn metallic effect, achieving a unique and fascinating aesthetic.

Just got round to trying this one - or something based on this. I loved the process, but have to say mine turned out to be a total failure!! I'm going to study the making of yours again and see where I went so wrong, because I love how yours turned out. Spectacular dear Sergio!! Such beautiful cheerful,rich colours over the perception of metal! Soooo many wonderful layers I lost count . They give this painting such a wonderful texturizing . Have a lovely weekend! Oh,ps. Question my friend. When you mix some pigment with the rust activator do you find it challenging to get it to mix with it? I find it partially does. I don’t mind the final effect of grittiness on cardboard as it does look like rust particles! 😃

Yes, I always varnish my paintings. Varnishing helps to protect the artwork from dust, UV rays, and other environmental factors, ensuring its longevity. For this particular piece, I used an aerosol sealant because of the aluminum foil. The aerosol provides a smooth, even coat without disturbing the delicate surface. Thank you for your interest!
