I also have a vizsla. We finally get to the vet, who told us, that if the wax in his ear is dark, usually it means that he's allergic (and his symptoms was getting worse and worse). Unfortunately vizslas quite often have them. About 2 months ago we found out about Humac Natur and it's amazing for all his allergic, so if your vizsla have some allergic problem, you may read about it. Oh, and now we do the ears cleaning only once a week or two.
