This video is a prime example of why, if you have the chance, you make sure you go see them. It's worth every penny. I call these guys ENTERTAINERS not singers. They are hilarious goofballs that love to make their audience laugh & have fun at their concerts !!!!

The guy with the hat is Adam's brother Chris Rupp. The 2 of them started the group around 2001. Yes, they asked Austin to Joy the group after seeing him perform on a cruise ship. Chris left the band around 2015 to do more solo stuff and spend more time with his wife and new baby. Adam Chance joined the group a couple after Chris left.

AFAIK, Chris hand picked Chance to replace him
They didn't ask Austin straight away, there was some time after them meeting and Matt deciding to leave the group.
@@Rosiepooh75 Sorry but that is a rumour that has been going around. On 6 August 2021 Chris Rupp did an interview with reactor QoFyReacts and said that he wasn't involved in recruiting Chance. The link is available from Chris' twitter account. It is a long, but very interesting, interview and the pertinent info is at the 33 minute mark.

In the same concert they have " Songs that didn`t make the cut". Enjoyed the whole concert. There was other members and the guy who Austin replaced is also there and he sang with the group , they are amazing and the Home Fries loves them.

You better start recognizing Chris Rupp, the brother of the beatboxer. Why? Without Chris there would be no Home Free. He came with the idea and dragged in his brother and a friend to start it all!
Btw, this was his last performance with Home Free.
And yes, over the years the members changed: Rob joined in '09, then Tim joined and not too long for the Sing Off Austin joined. Chris left in May 16 and got replaced by Chance.
So by now, Adam is the only starting member in Home Free
Austin joined just before the sing off show because he was in the show with the group. Chance joined right after the sing off.
@@sjgavenger37 Actually, Rob joined in 2009, Tim joined in late summer of 2012, Austin started performing with them in the fall of 2012 and then joined full time in January 2013...just in time for the auditions for The Sing-Off. Chance didn't join until 2016.

Yes I know most of that. I just didn't know the exact years but I did know that Chance joined after the sing off show while Rob, Tim and Austin were part of the group for the auditions and for the show.
I haven't followed them long enough to know the original members (thanks for the history) but I did get in before their SingOff journey. I do remember watching a TH-cam video (before the reality show, Tim, or Austin) where they added a lead vocal 6th singer and they did a Michael Buble cover I think. But it changed their sound significantly, something clicked in that track and I remember thinking 'they need to stay with that'. Shortly after that, they added Tim and then Austin and I went 'there ya go!' And then the SingOff...and now Chance. Tada!

I found them in early 2020. I really enjoyed their sound. And I am not a country fan. Well at least not the modern country. I prefer old country like 70's, 80's. This new "pop country" isn't real country to me. But I digress. After some research of home free they had about a dozen different members before the sing off in 2013. Austin was kinda a "guest singer" and he had expressed interest in joining the group had they have a opening after meeting Home Free on a cruise. When the main tenner decided to quit and be with family they contacted Austin and he quite the cruise line gig and joined Home Free. At least that was a story I heard in an interview someone had with Austin.

This patron party was the night after Chris last performance with Home Free. There was a lot of spirits flowing and the whole ight was hilarious.

There was a story behind this! The in jokes between Tim and Chris! I'll tell it, and I hope you see it!!
So, the night before this show, it was Chris's last full concert with the group before he left.
During the concert, Tim told the story of when the group was protested against by Westboro Baptist Church - the ones who stand outside and shout "death to f*gs". Tim was happy, because "we know we've made it now!!" And he said "for the record, Home Free don't care who you love." - it was a really sweet pro-LGBTQ+ moment.
At the end of the show, everyone talked about Chris leaving. Everyone was sad, but Tim got really emotional... He did a speech, and was getting teary, and then he said "hey... This is for the Westboro Baptist Church.", walked up to Chris and full on kissed him, to raucous cheers!!
The next day, everyone was making jokes that Tim was flirting with Chris, which is why he sang "you're safe to walk with me alone... Chris." And "you wore red on purpose" haha!! It was hilarious.

This is my first time to see this video. I laughed hard when Austin said at least he wasn't the only one to forget the lines. I've seen a few videos when he did forget. Since I didn't know the words of the song, I didn't realize hee was winging it until I saw the others trying so hard not to laugh.

This concert was right after the last concert with Chris Rupp, Adam’s brother. They talk about how they were protested by the Westborough Church in Topeka and they felt like they had then become famous. Tim said they promoted hate and that’s not what Home Free is about; he would kiss a dude just to piss them off. So on Chris’s last night, he kissed Chris. Great concert-you’ve got to check it out.
I saw Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs perform this song. They opened for the Dave Clark Five. (Yes, I'm old.) This was quite different from the original. But, as always, Home Free made it their own & did a great job.

Yes this was a private party in MN for Patreon subscribers. It was Chris' last shows with the group before Chance took over and they wanted to send him off with a bang. There were 3 public shows and this private one. As for forgetting the words....there might have been an abundance of alcohol that night. You have to react to Colder Weather, Colder memory lapse. :-)
Chris Rupp and Adam Rupp started the group, with 2 or 3 other bandmembers who left over time and got replaced. Rob joined in 2008, Tim in 2010 and Austin in 2012 if I'm not mistaken. Then Adam Chance joined the group in 2016 to replace Chris Rupp. Adam is the only original member left.
The only original band member is Adam Rupp at the moment. Chris and Adam started the band and from the current members next to join was Rob and after that Tim, Austin and Chance (after Chris left).
Chris actually chose Chance to replace him. Naturally the rest of the guys had to agree. Fantastic choice, I love me some Chance!

Chris and Adam Rupp started the group 15+, years ago. They had other signers that joined the group, and then dropped out, which led to the 5 they have now. Rob replaced someone, then Tim replaced someone, then Austin replaced someone, the Adam Chance (now known as Chance to not be confused with Adam Rupp) replaced Chris Rupp who is now doing a solo career.

At the 11:00 minute mark (that you stopped for), I think that Adam was replicating the 45 rpm record with that sound and the circular motion he made. I had that song on a 45 and those records always had that crackle sound back then, especially if you listened to the song over and over!
Tim has a hell of a range! He doesn't show it off that often.
Yes, Austin had as own career going when he met Home Free. Austin majored in musical theater while in college, he traveled around during the summer months with his dad singing in a southern gospel quartet (the man has soul in the blood). Austin's career as a vocalist & entertainer led to him working on Royal Caribbean cruises ships as a featured singer in their production shows. Home Free was performing on the cruise ship when he heard them for the first time. He let the guys know that he would be interested in joining the group whenever they ever had an opening. Austin wish and dream came true in 2012 when Matt Atwood decided to leave the group to be with his family full time. The Patreon Party is on youtube if you ever want to watch in your free time as it's over an hour long show (th-cam.com/video/8y__ZGr0WNg/w-d-xo.html). If you notice they all were a little tipsy during this show as the audience was constantly providing them with fluids.

I can't remember the song but I think it was at this event where they told Tim he doesn't suppose to sing high that was their job. He supposed to sing low. Well I made the mistake of not using my sound system but rather the TV speaker. Tim BUSTED it. He also blew the speaker on stage.

The "guy that came before Chance" is Chris Rupp, who founded the group with his brother Adam, the drummer. Chris has solo vids he has made since, and they are also worth a listen. Austin was the last of the current group to join.

Chris and Adam Rupp were the brothers that started the group when they were in college. There were several member changes since the start, but Rob was with them first, then Tim was a temporary fill-in for bass but he ended up staying, then They went on a cruise ship as guest entertainers and Austin was a member of the in house talent on the ship and that's where they met, they still had a tenor then but when he left (family life) they called Austin, then Chris (Adam the beatboxer's brother) left to do a solo career in 2016 and Chance came into the group.
You can literally find whole concert videos of Home Free. If you think the videos are phenomenal, seeing them live is infinitely more better! You can even find other videos of them screwing up the songs and they are still entertaining! What's even more entertaining is watching male reactors try to reach Tim's low notes and not quite get there🤣

After the group met Austin on a cruise ship in 2012 he joined the group replacing one who left in 2013. They won the sing off show in 2013 and the rest is history.
