    Velcro straps for a 45 strap is alright but Velcro for the upper strap just doesn't work -.-' its the one thing that kinda had me scratching my head when i bought my Aeon 60 XIX skates cause they used Velcro on both straps and the top one always comes undone every time i bend my knee's... which happens quite a lot while skating lol

    Love your vids, strangely, despite the popularity of inline skates I use quads but I still love your vids, I managed to learn my sprints from you even though the mechanics are a little different

    Don't worry about getting the bone chips in your elbow(s) removed - they will get re-absorbed over time. Mine did! Thanks for putting out such great entertainment for us skate freaks! Oh yeah, and Triple 8 makes a cool-not-geeky helmet in lots of colors for about $40 (What can we say - we love you and don't want you to stop!). Also, Bones Reds abec7's have made me very happy at $40 for 16. Cheers! Signed, Melanie M. from Florida

    I bought a pair of these Gyros last week. They look OK but they really hurt my feet. Bought them at Pro Skaters Place and made sure to let them know that I heard about them through you. I may have to return these skates and see if I can find something more comfortable.

    • @ashlaymacissac8649
      @ashlaymacissac8649 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought these skates as well. They hurt like hell and are over priced. They come with ugly laces and have some cheesy quote on the front strap. Talk about fruit boot. Save your money and go to Sport Check and pick up a more reasonably priced pair that are more comfortable. This review is very misleading.

    Hello Bill, I have a pair of K2 VO2 Max's and the stock wheels which are 90mm are on their way out. I love your enthusiasm with the Gyro wheels in the other videos and I would like to replace mine with them. My question: Do you sugest putting in 80mm wheels on a chasis that is made for 90mm? Thanks in advance and happy skating!
    Cheers from France :)

    I watch all your videos - you're cool!!!! Some questions.
    I have Seba KSJ 2014 and hockey Bauer Vapor XR5.
    Is there some difference between KSJ 2014 and Gyro GX7?
    If Gyro GX7 have some anti-shock?
    If Gyro GX7 tightly or loosely on foot?
    How possible with slalom skates play hockey?

    I love all your videos. This one was a bit uncomfortable to watch. Former motorcycle rider here. I saw you skating fast passed way too many car doors. Everyone must be a genius in Toronto because any other city those doors come flying open only as you skate by. Of course the driver doesn't see you; they're on the phone.

  • @MrSchafonator
    @MrSchafonator 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    your left hand is way to high on the stick when u shoot, thats why u get no power from it.
    Try to grap it a little bit lower, so u can lean more weight on the stick to get a better flex= more power :)

  • @chrisrugh792
    @chrisrugh792 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great intro song!! I would definitely like to see more hockey(ish) drills as a tutorial. Not that I play, but I have found that my technical skills improve (i.e. fuller strides, super-extended crossovers and carves that feel like my body is parallel to the ground.) Then my street confidence is improved as well. Thanks for the inspiration, BS! (Hehe - your initials are BS.)

    • @BillStoppard
      @BillStoppard  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Christopher and good idea, more hockey skills would be fun, I'm hoping to bring a coach in soon for some tips. If I made hockey tutorials by myself I'd be living up to my unfortunate initials (in monograms I go by William).

    If you don't want to kill your hockey sticks blade buy a shaft and an abs blade. Get them glued together and your good to go. The abs blade wears very slowly even on concrete

    • @BillStoppard
      @BillStoppard  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bemeis Burg Thanks B, is the abs blade stiff enough for slapshots?

    • @shlomoburg7185
      @shlomoburg7185 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. I've used reebok abs blades and they've lasted a year with hard use on rough surfaces. And when they do wear out just buy a new blade and replace it. Only 20$ a blade. The only downside is it makes the stick a bit heavuer

    • @everest0411
      @everest0411 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      On top of that, I am kind of thinking that does he really play hockey? Or does he only play casual street hockey? He knows how to shoot, but the hands just look too stiff and strange to me. If you take a look at his lower hand, his index finger was straight behind the shaft, which only see at beginner........
      Well, in my old days, there were people who were good at hockey but poor on money, they used the blade to as low as it could. So, his stick is nothing special to me. My old friends they used KOHO ABS blade to that same degree as his hockey stick.

    Hello, first of all, thanks for the videos. I'm trying to learn your great braking 180 and I have several questions for you. What kind of wheels do you ?, How long will last the wheels? What do you advise for urban skate skating?
    Thank you for teaching nonprofit.

  • @yanava
    @yanava 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That's a badass skate you got there. I still have to try this carbon fiber thing to check how they feel. It looks like these skates were the ones you wanted all along since ruining the Bauers. Will you ever get back to the Sebas? Keep it up Bill!

    • @BillStoppard
      @BillStoppard  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks M. The Sebas will be the go-to blade for stairs and big drops; obstacle skating. I'm seeing the gyro as a perfect flow skate, with it's speed and carvability; loved it for hockey too.

    Hey ive been thinking about getting into the sport cause honestly, it looks exciting. Id be using them to get to school so i want somethin built a little bit more for the city style i have. Any idea of what kind of skates i should get? Im lookin for a happy medium between price and quality.

    • @konstantinfeinberg8790
      @konstantinfeinberg8790 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can start from SEBA FR1 www.skatersplace.ca/shop/seba-fr1-2013 or it's more simple version FRX www.skatersplace.ca/shop/seba-frx-2013. I wouldn't suggest to start from fancy carbon skates

    • @mousehuntislife
      @mousehuntislife 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The FR2 (if you can find it in your size) is nicely priced between the fr1 and x, but I agree with Konstantin that SEBAs are the way to go when it comes to an affordable urban skate.

    Is it the ILQ-9 bearing the Gyro GX7 is "born" with?
    You talk about the bearing being a bit slugish. what are the perfect bearing for city skating ?
    an expert with a looooooooooong life of skating should have some Idea of whats best.

    • @konstantinfeinberg8790
      @konstantinfeinberg8790 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      it would be great if they came with ilq9. they are the best! unfortunately, they come with some unknown brand bearings.

    • @mousehuntislife
      @mousehuntislife 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wouldnt be disappointed in ilq-9s. They used to advertise that the bearings were coated in titalium, which is just a marketing gimmick but theyve seemed to move away from advertising it--the bearings may not have changed however. Either way theyre good.

    I'm beginning to think that it's your own vanity that keeps you returning to those stairs in the financial district......... 'You will not defeat me this time, you will not, YOU WILL NOT DEFEAT ME.... God damn it!!!!! I mean, over the last 2-3 years I've seen you taken on and defeat all manner of stairways with no hint of a hiccup. Hell, you even went all 'hawaiian style' on a frozen wave which held the genuine prospect of more than a missing nipple and not even that phased you. So barring you editing out a lot of unseen face plants, I believe we are dealing with a deep seated subliminal auto-defence mechanism that is involuntarily making you eat concrete. Upon analysing this hypothesis, I freeze framed the video at 5:29 and noted that you appear to be displaying the typical features of the 'fight or flight' mechanism pre touchdown. I took a picture of the frame in question - img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080429172955/uncyclopedia/images/b/b8/Scared_monkey.jpg You will note your facial expression carries all the tell tale signs of someone who has just realised they followed through while farting. Involuntary and inevitable. So what to do with our new found understanding of the problem. As behaviour and resulting body movement mechanics are subliminally controlled, they are patternised. A memorised external input triggers an internal systematic output. In this case, the input is the memorised pain and induced fear of having previously 'kissed the curb'. It now expresses itself as an output by involuntarily tightening up the muscles and preventing a smooth, shock absorbing transition down the stairs. But this does not mean you have to go on taking chucks out of the city walkway. You can reset the neural pathways to prevent future bricking it. All you have to do is go down there and keep falling over until you stop falling over. In that exact same place. Patternise the brain to respond differently. Alternately, you could just find a different set of stairs to roll down and save yourself a lot of time. Hope this helps. As always Bill, thanks for the tireless work of entertainment you put into these videos, always happy to see more and more subscribers are being inspired by your on road successes and failures. And a big thanks as well to the chap riding the Turno, it's giving me the itch to trade in my Kawasaki Zx6R for the sound of a thumper. My wife will be happy...:)

    • @BillStoppard
      @BillStoppard  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks A for the excellent theory. This set was in fact the first set I ever bailed on in T.O. Most of my early attempts to roll these stairs were aborted due to the wrong suit walking too close. I do remember all the crashes better than the successes. Even if I've rolled these stairs 50 times, I'm almost crashing 10% of attempts; staggering compared to the two or three stair crashes, in two years, over many other flights.
      When I approach these I'm thinking these one are 'the easy stairs' yet get that 'oh shit' moment once I'm in. My mind needs to interpret these stairs as difficult and my body needs the chill. Defo agree with getting some repetitions in to recalibrate and reframe. I think I will take your suggestion seriously and get some repetitions in, until security bards spring into action..they're getting pretty fast. Will post vid if I do.
      Oh and I hate being 'freeze framed' on a bad hair day; please use kinder judgement.
