My mom and I were on the Magic and experienced 2 stingrays in Serenity Bay .. back in 2002.
How many Disney cruises have you been on Michael?
I thought I remembered other videos on TH-cam that showed nets just off shore in Castaway Cay. They prevented sea life any larger than some small fish from getting that close the the beach. I wonder what happened to the nets?

Amazing vlog, as always! Castaway Cay looks like the most relaxing place on earth. It reminds me of an island my school band visited when we went on our senior trip to Hawaii! This cruise seems like it went by so fast! But I am glad you had a good time :)
Thank you for this video . Your enthusiasm is contagious. We will be taking our very first cruise on the Disney Dream on Nov 1. It took forever to convince my dh to try a cruise so I booked a 4 night taster cruise and then we will be going to WDW and spending 8 days in a 1bdrm Savannah view. Probably not going to do the parks ...just relax and hopefully look at booking another cruise for January🤞
We went on the September 6th sailing. It was our very first and we are hooked. My daughter and I just watched this and relived our experience. I can’t wait for our next one! We are going to WDW for our first time ever too Oct 3rd so ty for all of those videos also!
When I was at Castaway Cay in 2019, I saw a stingray while doing the snorkeling activity! It was very calm and very cute.

I’ve been on several Disney cruises, Castaway Cay is known for its BBQ! Neither of you commented on that. You ate chicken and burger but didn’t like the BBQ ribs? Pulled pork? You smell it all over when you’re there.
He got ribs....twice...said he really liked it.

I wonder if the wildlife got used to being close to the island while cruises hips weren't running. Such a cool encounter!

Michel the cars that they are using on Castaway Cay are called Moke.
A double dip cruise at Castaway Cay.....that is a dream....:) That looks like so much fun. Well, the rain maybe not quite as much fun. and the shark, in a bit shallow. At least the water is clear enough for you to see it.
I wonder if the rain stirred up the food that the sharks and stingrays enjoy?

Great footage again.. fantastic day... There may have been a breach in the safety net that surrounds serenity bay to protect swimmers.
I don’t think there is a safety net installed at Serenity Bay. I know there is one at the family beach. Why I say this is, during one of my cruises a shark swam right past me on Serenity Bay. It would be good to know for sure though.
Some of those cannons are from the actual Flying Dutchmen ship used in the pirates movies.
It brings back memories of my only Disney Cruise which was on the Dream. I can't eat second dinner seating anymore, at my age eating late at night keeps me up all night with acid reflux.

Just curious were there many children on this cruise or mostly adults?
On our trip we saw several large Star fish at castaway cay ⭐️ we also saw a stingray but not that close...sure they are looking to be fed...same with the shark 🦈😲

eWe have seen stingrays the last couple of times at Serenity bay in late 2019 and early 2020. They are just nurse sharks they won't bother with you. there are star fish too.

I’ve been to CC several times and was always told the beaches were netted off to keep creatures out of the area was this not the case?
Believe that's just a part of the family beach. The adults only beach is open waters..those sharks are mostly just sand sharks and are harmless. One came within inches of us on an excursion once. Was pretty cool
They are just scary because movies (Jaws, megashark etc) and not a threat. 🦈

Michael, I hear a lot of people call the island Castaway Key, why do they say key when it's cay?
That is how they tell you that it is pronounced in that part of the world.

No, it does not
@@ameliaerin1544 yes i think that if they were to stay overnight then all of the transactions on the ship with the passengers would be taxable by bahamian tax authorities, sort of the opposite reason why the stores are closed during days docked in non-US ports.
