@jack_attack my parents were first generation immigrants but I was born here and although my parents accents are still strong I don't have a hint of a Chinese accent. Most British born Chinese/vietnamese sound like the rest of the British and we all love this country. I used to have a British flag hanging in my garden until the local council told me to take it down. They were surprised that I wasn't white when I opened the door. I feel those that always bring up racism are in fact the racist ones.

Her accent is clearly a deliberate affectation, I grew up with loads of different races and ethnicities in the 70’s and all of them spoke the same English dialect as me. Children tend to develop their language along with their peers and classmates, so if they retain the accent of their parents it’s a deliberate effort.

Sychophants, and ideologues pervade every sphere of discourse. Pretenders, and narcessists getting the spotlight for deception, manipulation, and tyranny.
Genuine discourse, and attempting to actually understand the world, would take too much time and effort.
Better to leave no doubt as to how we've fallen, when people seek and parrot the midwits, and their sophistry.

I mean I don't agree with all of the rhetoric that comes from my people, but I think the barrier is, you don't understand it, nor have you experienced it, so it's easy to say it's dumb. But some may say the same to you about things you've experienced, and they have not, and you find yourself defending it.
      Same thing. Blessings

Isn't that male presenter the one who in another debate said that his identity was precisely that he did NOT share 'British culture' or 'British values' but, of course, he's just as British as any indigenous person. His is not just cultural appropriation but cultural annihilation as he even thinks 'English' is a term that can refer to anyone even if they weren't born in England, have no English ancestors, know nothing of English culture or even proudly reject it. To even mention English as a people is, apparently, to be racist. This panel does not have even ONE indigenous Englishman on it.

Just imagine the outcry if it were a panel of all indigenous English discussing the Englishness of immigrants and their descendants! Would it be okay for Australians of European origin to discuss just how Aboriginal the indigenous population of Australia is? Why do the Australians go out of their way not to offend the culture of the Aboriginal population. Why do they protect the Aboriginal culture yet if somebody wants to protect the English culture that's a bad thing and deemed racist and seen as some sort of "white supremacy".

Thank goodness for Mr Kisin and the gentleman next to him for talking sense. The Cleese tweets were about nostalgia and had absolutely nothing to do with race but, as usual, we have a black woman instantly playing the race card and a clearly biased male presenter joining in.
Mr Kisin was spot on. If nearly 50% of a city's population is immigrant and mostly first generation, it is no longer the same as it was. That doesn't necessarily mean better or worse, but different and to deny it or to try to introduce race, when no-one mentioned it, is deliberately deceitful.
After 14 years of misrule, our immigration problem is worse not better, despite repeated promises.

"British" is something else entirely. It is a nationality - an administrative construct.

It’s not race it’s culture. And no, English culture isn’t ’multiculturalism’ it’s is own distinct thing. A history, a heritage, shared values. If 50% of a city is made of people who were not born in the nation and therefore have no connection to the history, heritage or shared values it stands to reason that that city is less English. This really is quite simple.

Watching this panel discussing what it’s like being less English, is like a white man saying racism is a thing thought up by haters.

I have a British Passport but i always identify as Scottish. Have lived in Scotland all my life so far and was born here. I can trace my heritage back hundreds of years to a couple of Scottish Clans. If you cant do that then youre not Scottish. The same applies for the English. Im proud to be Scottish and im sure people are proud to be English.

The fact that Shola in her late 40's who was born in Britain sounds like she just got off the plane from Nigeria without a hint of a British accent proves Cleeese to be correct.

Its a very simple stated he made, he said it was less English, that is the culturally it is no longer as England as it once was, you dont need to be a genius to work that out, nothing to do with racesim, but an observation. Clear Dr whatever she is called isnt capable of making that distinction,

If on the set they were fully immersed in English culture, it would go as follow
    "I beg your pardon,
"You have a point sir but allow me to disagree while making a humourous comment
"Please i've talked enough, would you see anything to rebute in my demonstration?
" No please after you Sir/Madam.
    And so on.
Saying that interrupting and getting all riled up to express a point is english, that is nonesense.
People go to Japan India Marroco or Peru knowing that the level of closness won't be the same, interaction won't be the same, food and culture won't be the same.
If tomorrow those places were to become a new york type of place, they would have lost a lot and it wouldn't be worth visiting.
