Nah. They keep saying Trump "claims" he was shot, not acknowledging that he actually was shot. It's just silly, and it's hard to take their news section seriously some days because their anti-Trump bias shows around the fringes. Only the opinion page is really conservative these days.
A lot of the time, newspapers will predictively write/compile “B-matter” or background information for an article/video like this one even before something gets announced. Since Vance was one of three likely nominees, I imagine that happened here. Just think that’s an interesting fact

Even Elon Musk realized the socialist agenda of Democrats, and switched sides, and now backs Trump. My parents also switched from registered Democrats to Registered Republicans when they realized they could NOT vote Democrat any longer because their own standards were more conservative, so they switched parties and voted only Republican, since registering in late 2012. (They didn’t vote at all in 2008 or November 2012 because they didn’t like any of the choices) Remember, they’d been registered Democrats for decades by 2012, but they admit now their heart was never really in it.
They voted for Donald Trump in 2016, 2020 and will again in 2024.

This is how it was when I met Trump backstage at a studio many many years ago. The man was loud and talked to the whole room and said some ignorant sounding stuff but underneath the bluster his policies are spot on. I met him when I was 17 years old and he spoke to me briefly and asked me what I had in mind for my future and gave me advice and talked to me with respect. I will never forget that. This is likely how Vance's interaction went. He looked past the attitude and saw the policies. Wish everyone else could.
