Also, I've noticed that they've made it so that you can get a full two ATB bars from doing a full punisher mode combo. This is no doubt a great update for gamers that found themselves unable to ever use the 2 ATB finishers after staggering bosses and whatnot. If you look at the standard time that an enemy is staggered, you will notice that there's just enough time to perform a full punisher combo and then use the 2 ATB infinity edge. Nice QOL change.
This new combat system is amazing, they really outdid themselves improving on remake. This is just the beginning of the game too! Imagine how late game combat is going to look
I’m actually super happy about the -aga spells costing two ATB. At first I thought damn, that sucks, but looking back on Remake, the aga spells were so busted. You could cheese through the entirety of the top secrets fight just by spamming and stun-locking with them, it was basically the whole meta of the game tbh. I like the added risk with the nerf. I bet if you factor in things like refocus, skill master, haste, etc you’ll still be able to dominate with aga spells, just requires more work and strategy. Think it was a smart change
Hmm I think the support materia which lets party members cast spells for free following your abilities might be the new way to do this. I paired it with Comet and it seems sort of unfair
yesss! your combat guides on remake were my favorite things! It really helped me get the most out of hard modes and enjoyed the combat that much more can't wait to see teh rest of your guides
Extremely clunky tbh. Only yuffie had great air combat and that was after they realized they messed up with remakes. Tifa could do cool combos but none of that matters if you have no mobility or defense. So I'm glad we have ALL of that in rebirth. Obviously Barret and aerith won't be zooming around the air tho haha
Cloud's battle mechanics are so well done that I still wanted to control him even when we finally got to control Sephiroth. As awesome as the build for Sephiroth is, I still preferred controlling Cloud. So well done!
@@Snefro1338It’s such a cool moveset I have no idea how they could stand making such a fun character and only having him be *optionally* controllable for like ten or so short and easy fights. Hoping that Rebirth surprises me and gives us other Sephiroth sections somehow.
Since you didn’t mention it, a fun little use of Cloud’s other synergy ability with Sephiroth, the projectile counter ability, can also be used on Trine and it feels glorious to pull off. I instantly staggered him with it.
Yes! Guide videos are back! I did not know you could precision block with R1 while in Punisher mode. The aerial state and blade beam projectile is a game changer. Looking forward to seeing more combat character guides!
Happy Birthday dude. Thanks for all the content on FF7. When I started following TH-camrs in June 2023, you were the first, even before Max. The wait for Rebirth has been much more bearable watching your content and that of other influencers as well. I can't wait to watch your next guides on Rebirth. Keep going!
I love how some of clouds abilities from remake have just become apart of his regular attacks kinda shows how much the characters are growing/becoming stronger
It’s worth noting that even though punisher combo goes so long, you can get the finisher by just stopping pressing attack at any point in the combo. There’s also a helmsplitter aerial by pressing punisher I don’t know if you went over. Overall great guide! Combat In this game goes hard! So good Also try counterfire vs trine:) Here’s one to note for Sephiroth guide - using the abilities tied to his triangle grant limit break as well!
Maybe I missed it somewhere in the video, but you can also precision dodge with Cloud. The payoff for it is that it puts the enemy in a Pressured state right away.
The air combat in this game has me beyond excited, took me a bit to get use to the dodge and the button inputs but once you get it down I have SO MUCH more fun in the air lmao.
I didn't know you could just fly around in the air and even do your abilities mid air. This game is so fluid now. Now I can't wait to know what Tifa and Yuffie can do.
I don't know if I'm asking for too much. But icing on the cake would have been that there was a unique animation for the perfect blocking for each character... I would have been in love
Thank you for the AWESOME tips @BltzZ, no one does Final Fantasy VII combat guides like you man, you’re the best.. 👌🏻 I was utilizing them as I was playing tonight, and they’ve been really helpful.. thank you man!😊
Clouds combat soo fun in this one I'm gunna have a lot of fun with this game already have with this little piece of it the ranged and aerial attacks and the perfect blocks and counters are game changing
I've found if you want to force blade beam from range if you lockon and purposely run directly away and push square it will stay shooting blade beams at the enemy, good for that one enemy spinning stuff in the reactor.
From reading part of Tifa's combat sim. tutorial (in one of those 4 hour preview vids), it seems like Focus Strike will refund ATB if you actually dodge an attack. It's an interesting way to nerf it and get more players to appreciate how good it is for evasion.
Awesome content. Thanks a ton. You’ll have a busy week when the next demo drops. You’ll have 4 combat guides to give us. Also someone should post a Materia guide for the first demo. Finding some were tricky, and I just found a new one on my third play thru.
One little bit I'd like to point out about Cloud and Sephiroth's synergy attacks you didn't mention: counterfire not only works on Materia Keeper's Trine attack, but also knocks him back down just like Double Helix does, and it has a much more forgiving window than precision blocking it.
I just finished the demo 2 hours ago and i can't wait to play the full game, combat was so smooth. Also thank you for pointing out the free targeting, i'll definitely change it later. Can't wait for your guides and builds❤
I really like the new animation for Cloud’s Punisher stance, and the way Disorder starts the animation, but I still do miss the old animation, with how Cloud would attack one enemy with a flurry of hits.. it was really cool!👌🏻
@blitzZ youre an absolute legend. Playing through demo second time now using your guide and it's made me love it so much more (not that I didn't first time!!)
That is so freaking cool that you can Air Dodge so many times before your feet hit the ground, I was noticing I was doing that while I was playing the Nibleheim portion of the demo for the 5th time.. yeah, I’m not obsessed or anything, haha.😅
Off to play the demo again for sure after seeing this. My first playthrough was in such a state of hazy ecstasy that I definitely did not utilize or learn Cloud’s new kit well enough.
Here is my setup for Cloud's AI. This will allow him to use punisher counters and catch pressured enemies with focus strike to create those staggered states. He will then use Prime Mode to finish enemies without you issuing a single command. This will also leave you ATBs left over so you can choose whatever you need Materia: auto weapon, auto unique Combat setup: focused strike, prime mode (I leave out other weapon skills to conserve ATB)
I think they’ve made Limit Breaks easier to get because you now have different levels of Limit Breaks available in battle (rather than in Remake where you had to choose which one you wanted outside of battle.) You can get Cross-Slash, or save it up and get level 2 for Ascension. This might indicate that it’s going to be more like the original where you get access to 2 limit breaks per level, split across 4 levels.
Man the FF 7 rebirth videos Finna be crazy i can't wait to play this on release and watch every combat video let's run up the views for my boi 💙💙oh I'm definitely playing this in the 4k mode sorry performance
It’s funny, it seemed like you’d get a new materia so frequently, right after the last one, and you’d have to constantly swap out the materia, haha… and as you said there are only like 2 enemies to really try that Precision Dodge Meteria out before you can’t fight anymore, and it’s just story driven throughout the rest of the demo.. But my god what a story it is, I tell ya!👌🏻😁
I cant wait for the GUIDE VIDEOS it might double the 1st one since this has a lot of content written on it... and on a side note for those who played the demo.. When you played cloud for some instance does it occur to you he will just shoot projectiles 3 times?... that caught me off guard... and when in punisher mode he literally does this back and forth movement with his sword just like his triple slash...
* I would like to add, during the Midair Punisher Plummet, you can actually cancel the attack before you hit the ground by dodging. * switching to operator mode after doing a Punisher Plummet makes Cloud slide behind the enemy. * switching to operator mode after doing a Punisher Parry lets you slide behind the enemy. * And last but not least, doing two punisher attacks or more, and then switching to operator mode in the middle of the combo, allows you to perform the slide =)

Noticed you can cancel out of the Punisher switch animation after maybe 1/4 second and go straight into Disorder - and this can also be chained from a normal Operator combo, effectively launching into Disorder from Operator pretty much at will. Also, i seem to notice Cloud's Punisher counter is more powerful when you press Triangle at the right time (can anyone confirm?). EDIT: When you press Triangle AGAIN, after the parry. REEDIT: It's an attack he'll do when you press triangle after ANY attack in Punisher Mode. Switches him back to Operator, but it's different from the regular swing.
That demo was great! I was so mad at my Materia monster fight. Haha. I hit octoslash just as Materia monster jumped to do the tribe attack so sephy just swung his sword around for a while haha😂. Timing is important. Lol
Wzup Blitz I had saw your other Cloud combat breakdown video with control inputs on screen and asked which Left you were speaking of because on PS5 there's technically 4 Left buttons L3,Left D Pad button,Left 1,Left 2.
