@@wntriam That's a low-occurrence hand but something that should actually occur once in a while. I play on the order of 20 games per day so that's going to happen a little less than every other day.
"Patience" is the keyword, there! Knowledge comes with experience, but the most important thing about playing Control decks is patience. Keep in mind that tip Arena gives you: "Doesn't matter if you win with 1 life, or 20, so use your life points as a resource.". That's one of the most important things to know if you play Control. Give it another chance, maybe in play queue (or Events), and don't mind the losses. Try to take something from the games (win or loss), and be patient! XD
Good luck and have fun! Aggro isn't always as brain dead as people say and especially not this deck. It can actually go long and has a lot of moving pieces.
I had just got done posting a comment on the Izzet Turns video that the deck was already done with the very next results from Star City Games since it gets stomped by monogreen aggro giving it a less than 50% win rate and 4/4 top 4 spots. Then 30 minutes later, here you are. You are on top of it.

If the opponent had a sweeper or a meat hook, if cgb put a counter on the cat token in order to kill everything the troll would’ve had to die anyways so it doesn’t matter either way.

I hate kazandu mammoth, and if it wasn’t for the cobra, I’d say that’s the obvious cut. Otherwise Ive taken out a haven, added a forest- I hate not being able to cast troll/pack leader or not being able to actually power haven up. Took out 1inscription(utility is still a commodity), added 1 veil. Took out 1 unnatural growth, added 1 adversirie. I like the adversary, but it seems like more of a finisher/post boardwipe play than something which beats out any of the other cards (besides mammoth bc of trample), yet it doesn’t have the same continuous utility or card advantage that cards like troll, packleader, ranger class, and cobra do. If it dies before doing damage or paying it’s etb, you get nothing. So it seems best towards the mid/late game when you’ve had time to curve from unnatural growth into a buffed adversary. Therefore it’s unnecessary to have more than 1 or 2 as by the time you are able to maximize its utility, you’ve either already won, had enough time to draw the card, andor will win by playing it with etb. Phew- can you tell I’m enthusiastic about the deck?
This is a style of deck that I like. I ripped an unnatural growth out of one of the first packs I opened in MID, and have been playing it since the beginning. It's an awesome card.
Look how Curse of Leeches renders the name of the player it's enchanting. Arena clearly uses some custom internal markdown for rendering text and OB is a recognized pattern. Neat!
Sweet video. I crafted the mono green deck for 2022 and it's just felt stale. Since I've cracked a ton of the Innistrad packs I noticed I kept getting Unnatural Growth. I think I got 3 so I'll just throw a single Wrenn in as my 4th 5 drop. Sweet games bro keep the content flowing! May want to look into some Jund Midrange. I've been having a lot of success with it on ladder against pretty much any deck.
I love running Oran-rief and more cards that trigger off of counters like swarm shambler and contortionist troupe in mono green. So many cards with counters right now!
Seeing CBG's third match reminded me of my latest draft deck, where I put one Meathook Massacre, 3 swamps for it, and managed to get all 3 in my hand for 3 matches, but never got to drawn a 2nd forest from the 7 I had in the deck...
My first MID draft I got passed two unnatural growths. Yes, there were games where I got both on the board at the same time. Yes, there were games where it got exiled immediately.
That game with goblins really made me miss the days when Steam-kin, light up the stage, anax, Robber, and cleave were all in standard. Sometimes CGB would get so tilted it was hilarious, other times he would smash and give us all the feels goods. Poor mono red.
At the 17:55 minute mark, would it have been possible for CGB to Blizzard Brawl his opponent's 4/4 lifelink creature before it gets Baleful Mastery'd??? He had the mana available, and it would have been on the "stack"... Or am I missing something?
@23:05 This is why I don't like Insight and I never play it in my Dimir decks. Best case is that you snag a counterspell in a mirror match, which is not common right now. It may be worth a couple sideboard slots in Bo3, because it gives you something to do from the graveyard, using open mana while the two of you stare at each other and say "go". In Bo1 its ~48% to get a land, ~24% to steal a counter (with 8 counterspells). What are you really wanting to get from an aggro deck? A goblin, werewolf, or Monk? You could argue that *might* take a key card from a deck, but your odds on that are generally less than 20%. So, just play the card you think is better for your deck in the current meta, removal or counter or ACTUAL card advantage that gets you to the card needed for the matchup. Its not card advantage, its not card selection, its just "maybe good sometimes.."
Shoot, was playing unnatural growth a lot before this video, was a real game winner each time I summoned it out. Guess I have now to figure out another way. Thank you CGB ;p

Well makes sense 5vs 2 life wins a decent amount of the time when it comes down to G va not burn or life drain. Been what 16 years since onslaught block I didn't play T2 back then just casual so no clue what the meta was back then.
The green Adversary is really really hard to find a proper home for. I've added it, and removed it. Tried again, but no, sorry bro, spot taken. Perhaps in a ramp/landfall deck that spews out lands but what spots does it take there? If it had the nissa ability to untap the lands too that became creatures it would find a spot easier I think.

Is it possible to wait to crew the chariot until after the unnatural growth triggers before declare attackers? For example, just use one cat to crew it once it gets to 4/4, instead of using two before the enchantment triggers?
I wonder if CGB can make a mono red deck that isn’t goblins. My goblin deck is Boros for paladin class and showdown to keep the hits coming. Otherwise red goblins tends to stall out.
It’s power level is super low. There are way too many 1, 2, 3 drops that stop goblins 1-4 drops right in their tracks. Meathook massacre, play with fire, and werewolf pack leader come to mind. This deck was fun to play in the competitive event last weekend. It was amazing in BO3, having both Wrenn and Growth, and switching in sideboarding based on match up. I'm finding ranger class to be more replaceable, it's basically a 2 mana 2/2. 2 more mana only to get a +1/+1 counter if you attack. 4 more mana (8 total), just to look at the top card and see lands.
When you have mammoths and lands, why do you play the mammoths first? Like here: 35:08 You might pick lots of lands later, meaning you could keep the mammoths as creatures, no? Edit Oh they land tapped so you want them out first to ensure they're useful by the time you need them, got it.
After playing Manfield's list in the Worlds event I want to make this but I'm sure they'll kill Chariot when they ban Epiphany, and the Trolls, Mammoths and Growths don't jive with Gruul which is where it'll most likely go if the cat kart does get banned.
i tried a wolf version of this, result in a very aggressive and strong build, some issue with the mana cuz of the 4 green for unnatural i admit, but it work if you want to try it 4 veil 4 pack 4 class 4 naturalist 4 tovolar 4stormseeker 4 arlinn 4 unnatural 2 moonrise 2 huntmaster 4 pathway 4 rockfall vale 14 forest 2 mountain
The Troll can give it issues (especially on the draw and if you're not running Fading Hopes), but Devastating Mastery really lives up to its name in that MU.
It's funny how you were mentioning Siphon Insight and you responding with the hypothetical "what will they do with an unnatural growth?" I took such a card off the top with Siphon Insight once and it got me enough damage for the win with ye olde Poppet Factory zombies.

Yeah but then the chariot would be a 4/4 instead of an 8/8 so they would be able to trade for the chariot with the troll

In fact keeping the chariot is a lot better against the sweeper cuz it turns any 4/4 into a hastey 4/4

I had a version of this but had Gnarled Professor instead of Esika's Chariot for the trample effect to maximize the damage from Unnatural Growth.

Creature decks are already weak to removal especially board wipes and counters just makes them weaker to that

I think Mammoth is a mistake. Better fit in that 3-slot is definitely Primal Adversary. That 4 power trample is really important alongside Growth.
With unnatural growth out, can you not wait till it has triggered and made your cats 4/4s before you crew and then still swing?

The Troll can give it issues (especially on the draw and if you're not running Fading Hopes), but Devastating Mastery really lives up to its name in that MU.
No1 runs it anymore, but froghemoth is mono green's best bet (troll is good too for sure) vs. this new Lier-Azorius.

It's funny how you were mentioning Siphon Insight and you responding with the hypothetical "what will they do with an unnatural growth?" I took such a card off the top with Siphon Insight once and it got me enough damage for the win with ye olde Poppet Factory zombies.
