It's hard to imagine that the Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Garden was once just a fishing village in Onomea Bay. But with the advent of Dan Lutkenhouse Sr., everything has changed. What was once a small village, and later a former sugarcane plantation, was replaced by stunning plants brought in by Dan Lutkenhouse Sr. from all over the world! The creator of the reserve set himself the goal of creating a unique place where both unique plants of their kind and those familiar to the Hawaiian Islands will be collected. And today, the Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Garden is not just a nature reserve. This is a place that teaches, and gives strength, beauty, and inspiration!
