Nice story, which speaks to the importance of good, inspiring teachers' abilities to change students lives and the power of music. It's nice to see that not only did a great music teacher change Michael John Trotta's life, but now he is in a position to change the lives of others today, and is trying his best to do that through the art of music.
I performed his "Breath of Ecstasy" with one of my choirs, in May of 2019. This is now the first time I am hearing a segment from that wonderful piece, since our concert. It makes me harken back to old times (pre-COVID) and makes me miss it desperately.
We get you - we're looking forward to when we can all make music in person again. So glad you were able to perform Breath of Ecstasy - it's an amazing work!
As a teacher, having a story about inspiring a student into a music career, and being an educator as well, is so life-changing. What a great reflection about the journey of a career, passion for music, and difference that people can make in others' lives. Phenomenal compositions as well - keep it up Mr. Trotta!
Oh goodness, I can relate to the idea of not being a "real musician." I love his emphasis on musicianship being something you can learn and grow into. Great clip. Thanks!
Very inspirational story! I also took a bit of a roundabout journey prior to teaching choral music and writing for choirs. Glad you shared this. -Micah Horton

It's always nice to be reminded of the difference we can make as educators, one student at a time.
This is a great story about a great musician! I love the footage of him conducting.
Thanks so much!!!
