    6:58 the special sauce is that if you activate inkmoth's nexus ability a second time, it regains flying

      Welcome! I'll be getting back into these after I do upgrade guides for the Challenger Decks, by then the metagame should be settled back down after the Lurrus ban. :)

    I wanted to build this deck without Stoneforge Mystic but splashing red to keep it budget and casual.
    Then I saw how good Urza's Saga is...
    Then I cried in budget. And basic lands.

      When you said "Urza's Saga", I felt that.

      Relatable! I'd like to play the new Affinity deck but Urza's Saga is in that too. :(

    Awesome guide! Why do most decklists run Arid Mesa instead of multiple Marsh Flats?

    • @AffinityforMTG
      @AffinityforMTG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Mostly to confuse opponents! The deck doesn't usually play basic swamps, so Marsh Flats can only fetch for Plains or Godless Shrine. Arid Mesa can fetch those same lands, but your opponent might think you are playing a Boros deck on turn 1.
      Before the Horizon lands, Boros Burn used to play Scalding Tarn for the same reason. Technically it should have played Arid Mesa for red/white, but it didn't play plains, and Scalding Tarn could get Mountain/Sacred Foundry just like Arid Mesa, so if you saw a Scalding Tarn on turn 1 you didn't know if the opponent was playing Burn or a control deck.
      It's also why pros won't crack their fetch on turn 1, but will wait until the end of their opponent's turn. It means you don't know what they are playing with an un-cracked fetch, so you don't know what to prioritize on your first turn. :)

    The great thing about hammer time is that it can turn 2 win
