    I actually love the original one because it’s lighter and image looks practically the same. But that’s for my applications, I can see having an internal battery makes it more useful for majority of use cases. Shame it’s not true 4k sensor, but I think the image is satisfactory and I enjoy the ability to lock white balance and exposure when u hit record

    FINALLY, a mini action camera you don't have to worry about just giving it 5volts. The onboard battery is a nice touch, but the ability to wire it directly to balance lead is what I've been waiting for. No more putting a voltage step down. I have the caddx peanut, it's great for about 10 mins worth of recording on battery then it seems like if I want to use it on anything else, I'm have to figure out to wire it in .

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think @BryonGaskin means that you DON'T have to use 5v for it being the liberating factor. I had to read it twice before I got it too... Happy flying!

      @@Painless360 ah, OK, still I don't see a problem providing 5v to the camera. I wired it once and forget. I need to wire the cam anyway as I connect it to the FC to start recording automatically when I arm and stop as I disarm

      @BryonGaskin 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@schwarzflieger I have 1st version Runcam thumb and the Caddx Peanut. Wiring to 5V is not a problem if you have a FC. As soon as you need to move it to a different build, you have to worry about rewiring 5vs again. Having the ability to just create a plug for a connector gives you a lot of options for quick transfer. Additionally, if you're getting 5v from your FC, the FC is usually buried in the middle of the build, Your battery balance lead is typically much more accessible.

    Is there any way of taking it apart and rotating the camera module so it can work in the upright position?

    Is it only that really prefers the camera NOT to have a battery inside so we can save some weight? I got a runcam thumb V1 and bought a bag full of those little connectors to use in different quads/wings. Is not that much of a addup to the build process...

    supported by betaflight sounds like a "not supported by inav"
    A bit disappointing which will stop me from buying for the missing upright recording function which is a shame.
    I dont buy any products that have not delivered and the risk to wait for a firmware update is too high.
    Dji is the only one delivering in this point of fixing, all others simply ignore us (except maybe speedybee) .

    My Thumb 2 arrived several days ago, came with ND16 filter. Used mount that cam with it, a little awkward to get to memory card as it must be remove from mount. Camera active during mission profile with me as POI. Gyroflow program worked well, still learning all the camera adjustments. Well worth $93 US. Thanks for the review.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Agreed. I really wanted a camera I could sink into the top of one of my 'chase' planes for another angle without tons of drag from the thing. This is light years ahead of the previous camera from them so many of these cheaper cameras have very poor '4k' footage when tested. I hope their next one will be what we wanted all along - something that can give the RunCam Thumb Pro a run for its money!

The Insta360 are more professional camera so you do want to crash a insta360, plus you can take it for vacation and have a beautiful photos and videos. This cameras are disposable garbage that eventually will end up in a box. Waste of money.

    Lee I saw an "image rotation" setting - that doesn't allow vertical mounting?
    And - I can't believe how many of these cameras are "fisheye" - am I missing something? Does anyone actually prefer that look vs a normal rectilinear image? Of course it's correct able in post, but still...

    • @DanielSingerX
      @DanielSingerX 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always feel this way about rectilinear imagery! I found it’s much harder to make a lens that’s got distortion correction and the good ones I’ve found are much heavier so they seem to just use the simple fisheye lenses. But i think someone could make a good rectilinear lens so there’s no image stretching and we get the full image resolution at the edges
