The harmonies, geez. Next level genius! In some places they use dissonants in ways I've never heard in my life, and then resolve them heavenly. Listen to 5.25 (alrea-) DY KNOW. When I first heard this song I must have played those two syllables 200 times over, to try and grasp the shear brilliance of that dissonance resolved. And I'm normally not a "technical" listener, I want to féel a song. But that? Blew my mind, still does!
Extreme warmed up for ZZ Top and this is the last song they played. We had never heard of them at that time, but there they were 10 feet away, sitting on the stage singing this beautiful ballad! My wife and I love this song and loved watching them perform! ZZ Top was fabulous as well!
Dude, you ARE bringing that old music to the new generations, just by uploading your reactions! So many people are going to discover great oldies when they watch you watching their parent's old favorites. It's gonna make them curious about all of the other stuff on your channel. Way to spread the love, Man!
Saying I love you doesn't always come with those words. Sometime I love you comes out with "Drive safely", "Eat your vegetables", "Call me when you get home", "I'll give you a ride home." I love this song.🌻💙🦋
This was our song for my husband and myself when we dated. Brings back such good memories. We just divorced in February but are still friends. Married Oct. 1992. Beautiful song and now brings tears.
In Australia, this song was #2 on the charts for weeks and weeks, because "Everything I do" by Bryan Adams, another beautiful ballad, was #1 and stayed there for ages. I was 16 when this came out and remember I was crazy about a girl at school. This song just seemed to be everything I wanted to say to her but couldn't.
Yep, same story in the UK. I was 17 myself in 91 ... Bryan Adams had the longest consecutive run at No1 ever, and kept this - and 'Wind of Change' by The Scorpions - and 'I'm Too Sexy' by Right Said Fred - from ever reaching No.1.
@@BardOfAndromeda Yeah, it's weird looking back now at those songs now. They're all such massive 90s classics, you would just assume each one of them spent weeks at the top of the charts.
They also did a song called "Hole Hearted". It's an upbeat song and the harmonies are still amazing. These two songs were huge back in my high school days and bring back many wonderful memories. Thank you!
Love is a verb. My dad was never one to wax poetic about how much he loved me, but I knew every day that he did, down to his bones. He was always there for me, no matter what, and for my own kids when they came along. We knew without doubt that we were the light of his life. Being loved like that is such a precious gift. And I'm grateful.
I bet they were stoked when they had penned this song. They must have just _known._ The video is really effective too. So simple-yet mesmerizing. The guitar player (Nuno something) is distractingly beautiful. Apparently he's a seriously good (rock) guitarist.
You know what I love? The fact that you wanted to pause it a 2nd time and couldn't, due to how great the song was. You were in the moment. Loving how great the song was and probably forgetting you were even doing a reaction. Thank you for loving good music. It gives me hope, when someone so much younger than me, can actually enjoy music I love. Music is the language we all can speak. I think we should look beyond our differences, and try to see our sameness. I'm a middle aged white dude. Yet I felt very much connected to you when I saw how this music touched you.
I loved your heartfelt reaction- honest , pure, and beautiful! I'm 60, when I first heard this song, I was probably in my 30' S- and it never gets old- it is like I first heard it- just a perfect beautiful song- voices, lyrics, melody, and feeling☺
@@rileyandmike Extremely underrated, one might even say. :3 Yeah, Nuno has definitely flown under the radar as a guitar god because his band's biggest hit was a ballad. His rhythm chops, lead playing, and creativity are all off the charts. Easily on the same level as EVH as a musician, but never really got his due.
Great reaction video! Unfortunately, for Extreme they found came with this wonderful rock ballad, but those who fell in love with this song who went to see them were in for a shock as these guys are/were extremely heavy rockers.
These dudes can rock pretty hard too. They are primarily hard rock. This was just a nice little treat that made people appreciate their musicianship and harmonies. One of my favorites
Most of Extreme's material was rock and electronic. Notice that he turned the amplifier off and picked up an acoustic guitar. Then the two of them sang a pure beautiful ballad in harmony and totally nailed it. No one can say that "they just do rock and roll and can't really sing".
Extreme issue of my favorite bands. Nuno, the guitarist, is considered one of the best players in the world, and now he plays for Rihanna. He's incredible. Gary Cherone singing Jesus Christ Superstar will blow your mind.
"It's all mind control now, at this point" you get it! i'm happy to witness your musical journey and what it's done to your mind and soul, it's so refreshing and beautiful to watch, it's like you're growing as a person, it's what music was supposed to do, and going through most of the 20th century before reacting to newer stuff is definitely the right move, you're wise beyond your years :)
Back in the day, many if not most metal/hard rock bands were doing ballads, if not to cross over into a pop audience and increase their exposure. More Than Words was the only song from these guys that I knew, but what an enduring song it is, with 480M hits. A good song is a good song, regardless of the era.
Back in my radio days, I had the chance to hang out with these guys at a friend’s house for several hours one afternoon. They even did some music for us. James, as much as you want to be transported to the 70, 80s and 90s, I lived them and miss them dearly.
Party at my house if your ever in Scotland. All this classic stuff your reacting too is definitely on the playlist. Glad to see the younger gen showing the appreciation. Brilliant
I remember this song from the 90s :) Loved it then and it's still special. Please listen to Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. I can't get thru that song without tearing up. It's a touching, beautiful song.
JB you so right it was not that long ago when artists had way more freedom . What do ya say let’s me and you start our own recording company. LOL wouldn’t that be a dream just let raw talent do there thing and share it on you tube... God bless you JB and I really hope your dreams come true..
If you take time and really listen to the hits of my youth from the 80s and early 90s, you'll find a treasure trove of dulcet gold so brilliant, you'll never wanna listen to modern music again.
Isn't simple music, thoughtful lyrics and great harmonics, just truly eye opening? I love rock raw energy , i love technical precision, i love insightful lyrics, but sometimes, I am blown away by the beauty of simplicity .
Love this Band. Extreme are really great. I saw them 5 times live here in Germany....always breathtaking. Nuno is one of the best guitarplayers at the time. Love your reaction videos.... Carry on:)
That's awesome that you checked out the lyrics and connected with the song's beauty and message. It's one of my favorite songs and I always sing it when I hear it. Much love!
Love this song. They used to play it on 100.3 Pirate radio back in the day. You should hear "Lips Like Sugar" by Echo & The Bunnymen from 1987. There's nothing like it.
50s and 60s too, My Brother. Rock began in the 50s, with a lot of awesome tunes from that decade as well, plus the 60s, Dear God, how can you overlook the 60s. Right? To me, pop music went down hill from around, the mid 80s onward, but this was a gem from the 90s that I'd forgotten about, sadly. Good to hear it again. Man, you've got it figured out. Now if only you can help more of your generation to see that, maybe we can rejuvenate modern pop, once again. Love and Best. Out.
OMG this brings me back to 6th grade! I loved this song! And I never noticed this in the video- but I find it hilarious that the guitarist and drummer put down their guitar and drum sticks and we’re sitting in front just chilling and waving their lighters 😀
Too exactly right! Beautiful reaction man & as for the music industry. If you don't have vocal talent we'll auto tune it as long as you look a certain way,do what you're told you can be a "star". Making originality, raw passion for music & free thought almost extinct. Actually should put innovation on the.endangered species list.
Nuno! He's still rocking to this day! Every time I've tried to watch a reaction from someone I like, it gets blocked. So, thank you very much for doing this one. This is pure talent right here.
I am glad to see some of the younger generation, such as yourself, exposing themselves to some of the great masterpieces that came out of the 70's, 80's and 90's... I feel a lot of newer music pushed by the industry today is lacking in emotion and passion, although sometimes there will be an artist that shocks me. But then when I hear about that artist's inspirations (that come from those decades), then it doesn't surprise me as much.
I just watched another reactioner’s video for this song this morning, and yours is equally as emotional as hers was. As I commented over there, this song came out the summer before I started high school, and it’s what got me hooked on Extreme. It was just so emotional and pure, just these two beautiful voices harmonizing to perfection and a guitar. Nuno and Gary were just so on point in their harmonies. This song and Hole Hearted, both from the same album, bring back such wonderful memories of that time. Love to see you react to that song as well. More up tempo, and you hear both their voices separately as well as their beautiful harmonization. Both songs are still staples on my playlist all these many years later.
Great reaction as usual, Extreme were a great band. Just to let you know there are still great bands out there but the record companies don't promote them on mainstream media. If you go see these bands live you will be amazed. That said I have a 70`s suggestion I think you will really enjoy, Girls Girls Girls by Sailor. Apologies if I`ve already mentioned this.
The acoustic and their harmonies are flawless!

It's pure artistry is what I think you mean. Not forced. It's beautiful and more natural.
Smooth and soulful .Its song writing perfection👈
To me, This song is to the 90's, what Jim Croche's Time In a Bottle is to the 70's. Beautiful. Timeless. Sheer perfection.

Amazing ballad. This song was huge.
I was crazy about this song back in the 90's and I still love it.
My husband and I adopted this song as 'ours'. He passed away in 2010 and every time I hear it I think of him. Thanks for this!

Instant classic. Gary and Nuno harmonize so well on this song. I have been a fan of Gary since I was a teen. He is amazing.

"Hole Hearted" by this same group (Extreme) has amazing vocal harmonies and a driving rhythm too.

Amen, sister!
He is one of the best guitarists of that time to.

I really agree with you, what the industry does with the beautiful artists. Music is about the soul and heart, music has a mission.
Another great tune is "Hole Hearted" by Extreme
my personal favourite
This song is special! Those harmonies are Beautiful. Been on my playlist forever.
