Couple of things to note about the battle of Port Demesnus: 1. The hosts from Saim-Hann and Ulthwé didn't know about the plan, but were under the impression that they were there to cripple the planet's industrial base to prevent the Imperium from claiming some maiden worlds. Additionally, they were sent to their deaths to trigger the ritual. 2. The whole plan was BATSHIT. Eldrad straight up stole dead Farseers because he knew that their home Craftworlds would never support his plan. For some reason, most Eldar are a little apprehensive about creating a new God. If it went wrong, all of the souls stored in all the Craftworlds' infinity circuits would be lost and likely gobbled up by Slaanesh, followed by the Eldar of said Craftworlds. It's one of the reasons he's currently exiled from Ulthwé. 3. While it's not discussed much in the 'Death Masque' supplement, it's fair to assume that the Imperium would have been hit REALLY hard by the ritual. Between the shockwave of the ritual, the obscuring of the Astronomican, and the psychic sensitivity of humanity, a lot of tomfuckery may have kicked off right before Abby's 13th summer vacation. Frankly, I'm team Artemis on this. Given Eldrad's track record and the immense risk of his scheme, Artemis may have actually saved the entire Eldar race. At the very least, the other 99.999% of the Eldar probably appreciate/approve of him stopping Eldrad. Don't tell Artemis that though. I don't know if astartes can have aneurysms, but telling him would be a good way to find out.
Minor add-on: even when the Deathwatch demands tithes from various Space Marine chapters, their attitudes may also vary. Some chapters do consider joining the Deathwatch as a badge of honor, while some others see it as a convenient way to deal with "troublesome" marines, such as those with character issues.
An important bit of subtext in that opening quote I’d like to point out: there’s a distinct difference from “alien” and “xenos” in the Imperium’s bureaucracy-all xenos are aliens, but not all aliens are xenos. The line dividing the two is recognizable human values or cultural characteristics; for a race to be called “xenos” means they have no shared traits between species. Xenos are _the other,_ and are inherently hostile to human existence-and everything fucking else for that matter-in every way, shape, and form. For the better part of the Imperium’s history, that designation was immutable and indelible…aaand then the ‘Nids showed up, and the Inquisition went, “You know, _maaaybe_ the Craftworld Eldar, Orks, and Tau aren’t so bad.” Then the Lords of Terra were like, “But the Dark Eldar are still the bad guys?” And the Inquisition was all, “Oh, no, _definitely._ Those guys are _cunts.”_
Super approachable fun chapter. With all the xenos tech, you gotta expect alpha legion to have a black shield presence. Immaculate voice work! Thank you guys for content and quality
Thank you for covering the deathwatch, they are so cool yet under represented in 40k. I would love to see them do the same thing they did with the rouge trader rpg to the deathwatch rpg.
Deathwatch! The LEAST played faction in the 40k War Game, being the start for the game, Kill Team, and my FIRST army I play in 40k! There ain't a whole lot information of it for the War Game, but I still enjoy the adaptability of it!
An Ouroborus of hatred: The Imperium hates Xenos because the Xenos hate humans, who hate Xenos because the Xenos hate the Imperium. W40K in a nutshell.
What Xenophobia, cool weapons and armor, awesome veteran members, and great style does when combined together in a single chapter. Deathwatch really are super cool. Naerina really does your lore videos well thanks to her amazing voice work.

"After prayers, in which they petitioned the Emperor and the primarchs for increases in their already formidable skills, the Space Marines would assemble in the East Auditorium - a large skylighted hall hung with banners and pennants recalling the most glorious endevours of those who had been trained here in days past. It was here, in this auditorium, facing the newest oath-takers on the tiered stone benches, that the Watch captains would announce the cycle’s squad allocations and outline the training ahead. After this, there would be stern reminders, if any were needed, of the codes and strictures under which all those accepted into the Watch were expected to operate. During these, there were no small amount of side glances cast between bitter rivals. Already, Brother Keanor of the Dark Angels had engaged in unsanctioned combat - too artful to be labelled brawling - with brothers from not one but three other Chapters. Likewise Brother Iddecai of the Minotaurs had been involved in his fair share of violent encounters, though in his particular case, it was clear to all that Iddecai had been the instigator each time." The Watch captains are used to these kinds of interactions on the orientation days.
Still my favorite army in 40k, the tabletop does not do them justice at all. Lore is awesome and who does not want a group of the best of the best killing xeno scum. Hopefully, they will get the love they deserve soon.
After the introduction of the primaris, were some just sent straight to the Deathwatch instead of their home chapter? Or even just sent there as a permanent posting?
Yes. There have always been marines taking the Long Vigil within the Deathwatch, and not just for Blackshields, but they were always in the minority. After Guilliman returned, he was so impressed with the Deathwatch that he assigned multiple full chapter's-worth of Unnumbered Sons to permanent assignment with the Deathwatch.
Suffer not the Alien !!! Love it !! Let’s not confuse Imperial xenophobia with our world!! If we take anything from it we should remember it’s about UNITY 👐🏼🫲🏼🫱🏾👐🏽 All human beings are my BROTHERS
The Grey Knights are one, though it's less a case of the Deathwatch "refusing to recruit from" and more a case of the Grey Knights refusing to send marines to the Deathwatch.
@@40KTheories I don't think the Grey Knights are who are being referred to. The position seems to be one of dishonor, so I imagine it's whatever OC chapter you want to make with a bad reputation.
There are a few. The Mantis Warriors are one, I believe. I don't think Chapters that are on a penitent Crusade send to the Deathwatch, either because the Deathwatch won't take them, or because they aren't willing to lose good men when they're forbidden from recruiting. It's probably a case by case basis.
I tried looking up who is the deathwatch on the internet and I was met with countless wiki’s and links to 40K bible verses 💀💀… instead of simply telling me who they are and what they do.
It's not text to speech. The narrator in this video is Finnish. We only use text to speech for quotes by actual robot characters, and will never use AI for narration or artwork.
Well read as always, Naerina. It just as well you were not one of my teachers. I don't believe I could have concentrated on the work. Your voice is too sultry.

that and the Eldar Far seer didn't see the elephant in the room when he met Fulgrim and his men.

In Arks of Omen III or IV we have an Alpha Legion squad infiltrating and killing a ton of Deathwatch Marines
@@SamueL-td7fb Sounds about right. Thank you!

But there is a simple solution to end the hate:
PURGE THE XENOS!
And I wouldn't have it any other way
Me and my brother imagined a scenario where a DeathWatch kill team was dispatched to take out Thanos. You need not even wonder the outcome...

Could you do audible for like a technical manual of how to clean a Lasgun?
Jesus! Didn’t know that Sindeman was still around during the War of the Beast
Yup, though he did require a life support suit.

Deathwatch is super underrated and underutilized.
They are the rule of cool.
Beauty in auditory.
One thing I was never clear on, do they keep the cool shit they got when they were on deathwatch or do they have to leave them behind for the chapter
They get to keep the Deathwatch pauldron but pretty much everything else remains.
It depends on how stealthy you are
They are the guys watching death, obviously.
not to be confused with deathguard

My army until death 🙏🏻
1:00 I mean, that's kinda self fulfilling prophesy there, bub. The alien is probably saying the same about you.
Can you cover the pale throng or sons of sek next?
Deathwatch - a space equivalent of the Night's Watch filled with Space Marines from various Chapters across the galaxy.
Its not, they are not sent for the rest of their life and also its not a penance, but honor. Deathwatch are more like elite comando force.
