Wish this was out a month ago when I ordered, it's a lot easier than cutting and splicing aluminum stock. Would this piece work for attaching a rail that intercepts a post, e.g. where you have a stairway with a landing that then turns. The corner piece ends up taller than the top rail, so it intercepts midway up the post. If you could attach the swivel-reciever piece into that post, you could easily avoid having to miter and have rail-on-post.

Actually I think you show what it would entail at 6:57, just drilling into the post instead of the rail.
