    First off, thanks much for your insight about the US Citizenship interview.
    I have a question. Could you please answer?
    When the officer asks as to when was last trip to outside US, you said in your video, that you have the data ready in a handout prepared to answer. Is this allowed?
    Besides when the social security number & the previous address where one lived are asked, can the applicant see his pre-prepared paper and read out, as it’s difficult to remember the dates and the numbers?

      I figured lol. Do you happen to know anything about have conditions removed on residency? If you are married for less than 2 years when applying for a green card through marriage, you are given a "conditional resident card or CR1 residency" and you have to apply to remove the conditions are 2 years by proving your marriage is bona fide. That is the process I am in right now.

    • @DesiAmericanProfessor
      @DesiAmericanProfessor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have spoken about green card and issues in a video only to later told by many that there were quite a few inaccuracies. So I would not want to comment on issues that are not my forte. That said, from what I know, you get 2 year conditional green card and then 2 years later you need to send all the documents proving that the marriage is still going good. I am not sure if they call for an interview again. I think sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. But consult someone more knowledgeable in such issues

  • @casanova60059

    Want to point out that there's another reason they ask you the dates and how many days you were out of the country is because "You are only eligible for citizenship after 365.25 X 5 days, after you've received your green card. The number of days you stayed out of USA need to be subtracted from 365.25 X 5 days". So , Total number of days you've resided in the US, from the date you received your green card, to the date of the interview - Total number of days you've stayed outside of US >=1827

    it's worth mentioning that you should never jump to go to the US or any country if naturalization is your only goal, I've seen a lot of people fall flat when their green card process make them wait a long time, so its best if you keep naturalization in the bottom of your list of life goals.

    Having completed 5 years since I got my green card, I wish to apply for US citizenship. One of my trips i.e. to India in 2019-2020 lasted for 10 months as I was stuck under lockdown due to Covid even though I had a confirmed return ticket scheduled within 6 months. I can submit the air ticket as an evidence along with N-400 application explaining the situation.

      Indians have to get a student visa or a work visa to stay in usa. This guy is a professor and hence studied in usa and then went on to teach. So student visa was later converted to work visa. Then he got a green card and later a citizenship. Indians have to travel by plane and hence they are checked dor status the moment they land. That is why all indian immigrants are masters or phd people

      Parents yes, siblings take a very long time. My parents at the moment are happy in India and prefer to visit on a tourist visa. My brother does not want me to sponsor his GC. Because once I file his GC application, he cannot enter USA until he gets his GC, which will take 20-40 years. Because he works for an American company in India, he keeps traveling to USA on a business visa. If I apply for his GC, it can hurt his career. That is the reason I have not filed for my family's green card.
