I’m so glad you found this model easier! At least, better to put together than the last one. And you managed to complete it a few weeks time! That’s so good
Bricklink. Rest in peace Dan Jezek. Thank you for fueling my Lego obsession! I've built the UCS Venator class. Not perfect, smaller @ 6500 elements, but still epic in scale.
That's one thing I didn't think about with these MOCs: the packaging. Buying the official sets the packaging and organization must be so much better. I couldn't imagine sorting through nearly 20,000 pieces randomly. The cost is also staggering, but it does look pretty darn nice. I do have the more recent UCS star destroyer and imo it looks great
Something I noticed: A few of the tiles on your model are Light Grey and not Light Bluish Grey. Idk if this was a slip up on the BrickLink sellers or if this was intentional but I found it interesting. Also quick question: Did you go through all of your orders to make sure you got everything you bought, or did you just start building? I’ve always done that and it’s the worst part of the building process. So many hours, so many bent axles and too many emails….
I have a lot of old and new bricks mixed in from my own collection. I think that the slight variation in colors gives it a nice weathering effect and I don't have to go through the extra effort to make sure they all match. With a model this big I can barely tell the color differences though. I do a quick skim of everything I've bought and then start building. So far I haven't had any huge issues with Bricklink, just a confused part here and there and that's about it.
I always buy the cheapest colour of structural elements, BL makes it easy. Lots of blue, red and yellow technic bricks! Sometimes I intentionally mix the greys and bleys to simulate weathering of metal or stone. It looks great on like the Razor Fist or a medieval tower, but out of place on a star destroyer.
I reckon all those extra parts came from the design revision. The 2.0 version thinned out the “sandwich” section of the ship significantly, but it doesn’t appear that the parts list was modified accordingly. You can see this revision in a BrickVault video. The extra pieces weren’t due to human error, but they were due to what I would maybe call laziness on BrickVault’s/the designer’s part. $70 is a lot for instructions when the parts list has all sorts of elements that are no longer necessary. I am personally thinking of starting this project and I am a little annoyed that I will probably have to manually sort through the parts list and remove the extra parts myself.
did you go through with it? I personally am satisfied with the official set, and I can't justify spending multiple thousands of dollars on a single lego set, especially at this point in my life. I suppose I could just retain copies of the instructions? it does look incredible
@@berengerchristy6256 Nah. I might eventually spring for it but I ended up getting a UCS Razor Crest while it was 30% off instead, so I have enough big gray LEGO ship for the time being.
Any tips for someone wanting to build it? It’s my first time building a brickvault set, and Ive in the process of gathering parts I have. I haven’t built Lego since 2009, and this is one hell of a set to get back into it with
i had no idea there was this ""indie" lego market, and the end result looks incredible
It's huge, especially for star wars and WW2 custom sets
I like how detailed this build is despite the seemingly simple structure of the ship.
"im pretty happy with this". OMG THIS SET IS AMAZING AND WITH IMMACULATE DETAIL! ID BE VERY HAPPY WITH THIS LOL

Natural evolution of the $999 Apple Mac stand I see

one of the most organized lego project I've seen and as a lego fan this is interesting
Now this is a man dedicated to his hobby
He said he'd do it and he did it
That's some impressive comitment
Watched everything on the first channel, so I am very happy to have found more great content!
And it's lego which makes it better :>
Magnificent job.
You have a second channel? And I'm already subscribed to it, WTF?!
What a beautiful lego set wow

You make great art content and lego content! Could you make more videos brosing deviantart?
