(cont.) And changing up where you go onstage, what tools you use (mic stand, stool, etc.) the way you move to match the feel of the song, the band interacting with each other, etc. is all part of this.
The lead singer is ‘wandering’ too much. ..doesn’t look confident - more nervous and as if he’s unsure of himself. He needs to move with intention, then plant himself for awhile and connect with the people on that side of the stage. Your guitar players are only looking at their guitars...

SLeeW1, it looks like you enjoy what you're doing, which is a good 1st step with confidence! Confidence comes from preparation and feeling comfortable with what you are doing. The next step is taking authority when you're onstage... I'd like to see a video of you performing in front of an audience to make any real comments about your confidence and authority as a performer.

Tom's a legend and his teachings are so simple but make a really huge difference when going from just playing a gig to creating a show with emotional moments. He was genereous enough to share some of his teachings and tell a bit more about his entry into the world of live music production in a recent interview.

    Hey Brian!
I’m one of Tom’s Live Music Producers based in Nashville. Since the post doesn't allow me many characters, I'll have to answer in chunks! I looked at 3 of your songs and want to give you a few things. First of all, all 3 songs LOOKED the same. For an audience, when we know that 55% of communication from the stage is what they SEE, this is a problem. . Working on creating moments in your songs comes first through your song arrangements - turning it from just a song to a moment.

(cont.for Brian) They need to interact with the audience and with each other. Of course any movement or expression needs to FIT with what the song is saying.
Give the band time to shine. For example, on Knight of Redemption, the song needs to breathe some. The bass line is cool, so maybe allow time for him to step forward with only drums and work that line a few times, then have the rest of the band come in.
