    Fantastic video. You should rename it to - how to paint! I love that you give names to what you do, not just demonstrate. Some people think it all just comes naturally. It comes from practice and work. Thank you for sharing your work. It's a pleasure to watch and listen to you.

      This was very helpful to see you progress thru to the end. I have trouble often because I don't understand layering and blending as you go. Thx so much!

    You are a wonderful instructor. I attended one of your workshops some time ago and painted on poor quality paper. You gave me a sheet of good paper and my painting was so much better. I have used good quality paped ever since and improved for it. You have a lovely, very engaging teaching style.

    Like your video, but I think you need to mention where the light is coming from. It can make all the difference in the world where your darks and shadows lie. I also like to add a touch of dioxazine purple to my shadow colors for non-foliage shapes. I do how ever add a touch to tree and bush/brush trunks/sticks & stems. What do you think? Bless you, you've given me some new insights. Thank you.

    I DID enjoy that and it DID help me...a LOT!!! Great video. Thank you. I take it that you're not worried about the little white spots at the top of the mountain and in the sky (around the 18:00 mark). One of my big problems is exactly as you said...impatience. I want it to be good and I want it to be good NOW! I must learn to take my time and be patient. Thanks so much for a wonderful video. I'm a subscriber and always enjoy your lessons. David, West Virginia, USA

    • @peterwoolleyartist
      @peterwoolleyartist  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not worried at all - little white spots happen, and you either stress over them, try to correct them or cover them up, incorporate them into the design of a composition, or just accept them as part of the process, and leave others to interpret them in their own way. I'm not a precision painter. I'm pleased you enjoyed it David, and many thanks for the comment and subscribe.

    Do you wait for the wash on the mountain to dry before painting the sky?

    • @peterwoolleyartist
      @peterwoolleyartist  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Michele - yes, the mountain needs to be dry before painting the sky, otherwise the two will bleed together and lose their definition.

    Great video. I'm a beginner pluss and have a painting I'm going into where I think this video was a good reminder. I seen so many videos and I learned about layers, soft edges and such, but in the moment of heat (action) you easily forget. This time I was thinking of doing a wet in wet background. But after watching this I now wonder if I should only do part of the background like that and some more like the ways you did this. Then again. Sometimes just getting the right amount of pigment/water ratio on the brush is hard enough 😅..anyway thanks for the video
