As I have mentioned before, you are approaching John Skinner status with your fishing skills. When it is mostly blues around, I will put a wire leader on to help save lures. The downside to this is you could miss out on the bass. As always, your work is top notch. Tight lines!
If blue fish around i fish with a wire leader, but bass don’t like wire leader. So I fish with atleast 60 pound leader if bass and big blues are around
Next year we will be in marathon in July staying in KCB !!! On a canal !! 9th st . If ya around we should hook up, last year on the canal 50" plus tarpon and a v 82' bull shark !!!
Great vid and content brings back memories from my time up there 30 years ago - not in Montauk but Brig did Stockton as well now stuck down here in SW FL. Have seen many of your vids not a subscriber sorry but saw one that you're headed to Alabama which means you're going to be hurting for the striper fix. After moving from Brig ended up in Augusta GA which is on the Savannah River similar to where you will be probably not in your back yard but not 900 mi away. I fine tuned a few things had bass to 50 lb there using similar stuff - blurple bomber night above the damn middle of winter to jigs and topwater below in the race spring and summer. Reach out if you want more info just need to go cook the mangroves few to 19" today snook and cobia if you see Mark Schrenk give him a fist for me.
Any recommendations for good overall rod for surf/ jetty fishing in jersey? Trying to do some more fluke fishing down at the shore off the surf along with some other species
This spot is a MUST in early to mid May. Every time I went I caught 20+ GATOR bluefish that were all in the 25-35 inch range, around 10-15 pounds each. Its a very productive spot for sure
Tbh it did swim away through the rocks, but you’re right it was hooked in the gill and probability didn’t make it. An unfortunate, but unavoidable mortality.

You should get tent thing that goes on the bed/top of your truck. Seen many people using it for overnight trips and it looks pretty dam comfortable.
