Really really good Wakataketakatakata game Jingles :D gj! Edit: I was very sceptical to the -Omaha- Phoenix hull C upgrade, which removed 2 torpedo launchers and 2 guns.. but experienced that I never really missed them :) And in addition could sail as an escort, hunting enemy planes and DD's with ease. I really liked it, to be honest. Certainly, it really depends on your preferred playstyle, or your preferred playstyle in that particular ship.
My problem with destroyers isn't those long range torp's, I can see them coming far away, but when a destroyer can avoid all my shots from BB's because they are so fast, and they get in 100meters range of me and just shotguns me with 12 torpedoes and I am unable to do a thing about it, that pisses me off!
Opa Pelailee think about how he is pissed when BB actually do land a hit on him and one salvo send him back to port. Also - BB's arent best ships to counter DD's, it is cruisers' job. You know, I had this funny encounter, when I tried to ambush BB sitting still behind island, he wasnt moving at all, so I sneak up close, jumped out with happy face poping smoke to cover from his secondaries... to find it was him who prepared ambush, he had his guns aimed exactly where I was and BAM! full salvo on my stupid face :D There were no survivors :) Yea, I was pretty pissed :)
I Shyper Nah, not that easily. Even HE shells from BB just goes trough without a good explode so usually it takes 2-4 hits from BB to kill a destroyer and usually you can't hit a DD so many times.
My Grandfather told my Dad and Uncles to join the Navy because "you can get killed in any branch but at least in the Navy you will get hot food and a dry warm place to sleep."
TheGamer4ever The point is that if you *turn* every now and then you don't *need* to be able to see torpedos from 10 km away because you have already evaded them without knowing that they were even there. It's called preventative measures. You'd be amazed how much that does for you in your BBs and cruisers...
4plains well try to do that against a Nicholas or Sampson or Clemson or any other american DD that launch their torps at such a close range that you are doomed I sail both DD and BB so I understand both world and I have avoided a shit ton of torps but it doesn't help when they are launch practically inside of your ship now does it?
+TheGamer4ever If you're shooting at destroyers and not doing anything about their torpedoes until the torpedo alarm goes off, then I have news for you and I'm afraid there's no gentle way of saying it - you are the reason your team keeps losing.
The Mighty Jingles I know if there are DD's engaging you, you turn, but if they are undetected and was last seen turning away how on earth are you supposed to know they are back to launch torps if they weren't detected again? and you tell me how to avoid 6x torps launched at 3km distance because last time I checked that is 100% death.
Jingles when you see destroyers sitting behind waiting it's not because they are seeing where the team is going. On some computers it takes a very long time to enter the game. I am unsure why.
Grievous 1 I load into game late and I have 16gb of memory, GTX 970, and an i7 4790k... and my first battle of a session still takes all 30s to load into.
Darn it Jingles your laugh is infectious. I've only been watching you for a short time, but all the videos I've been watching that darned laugh. Can't help but start laughing as well.
Yay for buffs and all but uh 3km range isn't really all that great. If that's a hard breakpoint then a CA at 3.5-4km can still pretty much sit there outdpsing the BB's secondaries and torps fired from that range are still very easy hits.
Bernd Berndsen What I was hoping they would do is make an accuracy curve, so that accuracy is really good at up to 3 km, then drops off gradually, with the worst accuracy at maximum range. Instead, it sounds like they made it a stair-step, with great accuracy at up to 3 km and then terrible accuracy at any range over 3 km.
At least they gave BB a buff. Better than nothing anyway. How to know u're gonna have a good day? Wake up early and play BB then see how the salvoes hit :D just jk
Torpedoes only occasionally ruin my day in my BBs. However the thing that constantly kills me for almost no return damage in my New York are Clevelands and their HE. I fire one salvo for every 5 of theirs, their guns have about the same range as mine with better accuracy, AND unlike my big fat slow BB they can maneuver enough to be really hard targets.
Always fun to get back into my Isokaze for some fun, but be prepared that things will change dramatically on higher tiers. Fubuki almost broke me mentally, it's almost impossible to get those juicy hits when your torps are spotted more than 10 secs before impact, if not earlier by swarms of planes everywhere.
Jingles, you were talking about the Nicholas not moving and seeing where everyone else went but that may not have been the case. Awhile back I had a glitch on the same map in my Nicholas where the game would not load, and I had to restart WoWS, which took alot of time.
Jingles, the anouncement saying "our team has taken the lead" or "the enemy has taken the lead" refers to the cap zones, not the points a team has. As in your case, the enemy team took the lead for capturing A while your team hadnt had any bases capped at that time ;)
Through all the videos I have watched of how people play the ships; I now have a grasp of how to play more effectively. which I do give thanks to all of you guys for doing so. and only I'm not going to be the Battleship captain who sails straight, so be weary destroyer captains, cause I'll be hunting me some destroyer booty.
Jeremy Rogers The thing with battleships is you need to keep your distance with destroyers. Its a lot easier to kill them. But when you have non-existent AA and there are 3 carriers on the enemy team...Yeah.
Jingles.... BB accuracy is one thing... what about the torps dropped from 200m and from 2 directions? How to avoid those in a slow bb? And the constant fires from HE spam?
"the shocked enemy gunners fail to score a single hit" actual WWII documentary where a destroyer called USS Johnston gets so close to the IJN Yamato that her gunners can't train their guns low enough
I just love how you always sound like youre having fun unlike some people who seem to take it far too seriously. I never got on well with the Phoenix though, much preferred the Omaha.
BB's do really need a short-range accuracy buff. I remember having a match where I was sailing in my Fuso, fully upgraded, trying to get broadsides off at a New Mexico at less than 5km and most of them sailed right over them. It also happens quite a lot when going up against destroyers, in a situation where all of your team's cruisers have been sunk.
Jingles as I asked in your previous video, how was your time in Her Majesty's Royal Navy? I plan on enlisting in the U.S. Navy soon, and wanted a veteran's advice. Thank you!
I have some issiues with shooting over landmasses. The problem is ... even though I have the ship locked down I cant shoot over the land because my aim is physicaly looking at the land.... and I know my shots would easily pass over the hill but the guns jsut keep aiming at the hill instead of the enemy ship behind it. Sometimes it fires correctly ... sometimes it just derps the mountain where I aimed at.
Jerry Man Happens to a lot of us. Im still trying to figure out that kind of sideways near birds eye view. Kinda like above from a 45 degree angle. That would help out alot
If I am on a target before it goes behind one, it seems to shot over them. If I try to aim when its behind the island before I start tracking it, it usually hits the island. If the mast is showing, sometimes the drunk gunner corrects it and I hit the ship. Thats my experience.
Jerry Man You need to have the target selected, press X while your reticule is over the intended target, when he goes behind a hill, even though your crosshair is pointed at the hill, the shells will fire at the proper range, and go over it.
Hey jingles, i've been using each hull on the Omaha. The C hull with AA is very much worth it for killing lower tier planes. If im near 2km from the planes i typically shoot anywhere from 8-12 down per game. You don't notice much of a different with 1 gun on each side getting removed for damage on enemy ships either.
Maybe the Nicholas hadn't loaded in yet, once when i was playing it took me 5 minutes to get into the match, i saw people on my team move around on the loading screen map but i couldnt do jack shit. Maybe that happened to him aswell?
I laughed hard on multiple occasions during the first clip, but that 2nd battle had me spit out my apple juice, when I saw the name of that Nicholas class destroyer: "Torpedis". I was like OMG, it's perfect for a team killing torp-douche. Also Jingles, I agree the St. Louis is a beast, but if you didn't really think about it, you killed 3 of them in the first few minutes, like a beast yourself :D
You know Jingles there is a thing other than "Blind Luck" with guns that turn slowly, its called pre-aiming and locking your guns based on the side of you ship you anticipate targeting enemies from. There is no "strokes of luck" to it. Just simply keep you guns on a relative bearing when out of combat so they are at the ready, and use your ship to aim them, like with the Warspite. Easy.
and as for why you do want to use the 'C' hull on the Omaha if a good Cruiser driver is you gain a bit of mobility along with seems being less of an absolute 'floating citadel' for enemy ships. That the hull is just a tad better, basically its the same as the Murmansk but for the 'national bias' upgrades. (so if you plan to knowingly fight sideways on and ambush people at 3km such, then yes, the extra torpedoes are nice. If you plan to fight as a USN CL, C is good hull.)
Yeah! Amazing news, my favourite class of ships get a buff, finally. I'm so tired of cruisers having longer range than my low tier BB's and they are so fast they can avoid all my shots even when they are perfectly aimed. Time to clean the dust from my lovely Wyoming soon :)
The Mighty Jingles Actually Jingles (couldn't resist it), I have the Cleveland tier 6 cruiser and it does not have the defensive fire capability. Not sure if the tier 6 Japanese cruiser gets it though. Cleveland has the sonar and the catapult fighter.
@The Mighty Jingles, nice Phoenix match, but you really should check out the replay I sent you of the Phoenix... 173,890 damage done! I sent it on Aug 9, subject Epic Warships Carry 3275 base XP in Phoenix. I did damage exceeding 52% of enemy's total HP pool, and the end is a 1v3 victory against 1 CV, 1 DD and 1 BB.
I wish my opponents all sailed in straight lines. I love the Phoenix, its my favorite ship so far, its like a long range version of the St Louis, that can do 35 kts and so can control engagements. However I do find AP is effective against the St Louis, especially with plunging fire. My last game in it I fired 502 shells, scored over 100,000 impact damage (60% of which was AP) another almost 50,000 burning damage, then about 30,000 torpedo and flooding damage from the unlucky battleship driver who surprised me at point blank range round an island (while i was busy taking care of a Kongo that was closing in on our carriers without taking a single hit in return, so wasn't really looking behind me) and who took off nearly half my health in 1 broadside, before i realised there was anything there. It was the only time i was within torpedo range of anyone for the entire match because of the Phoenix's speed I could control the engagements and, like most people, he'd obviously forgot that the phoenix has torps! Got 3500 base experience but hadn't edited the preferences file before then to be able to save the replay. Couldn't bring myself to play the Phoenix since.
Alvin Fletcher Omaha is a beast. Cleveland is even better IMO.The ace up the Omaha's sleeve is the fact that it has torps. That makes it infinitely easier to ambush and kill battleships
Playing a BB, I can deal with the inaccuracy at range. I can deal with being torpedo bait. I can deal with being constantly on fire. I can deal with being hunted by aircraft the entire game. What I cannot deal with is the low credits and XP rewards a Battleship gets for taking disproportionate amounts of fire and effectively using their armor to shield their team from fire and bounce AP shells.
It's even funnier when, like happened to me in a match today, both a Phoenix and an Omaha allow you to torpedo them, under a minute apart, in sight of each other, while you are sailing an Omaha yourself...
I wish it was easier to see the location of smoke screens, especially when you are in one. At 8:40, I would have never realized that the Chester was in smoke.
You have some kind of magnet on your torpedo because when I fire at the battleship in the game at TIER 3 they swerve without me being detected by anyone.
Jingles, Do you have any suggestions as to how not to be hit by these super close manual torpedo bomber drops. Standard mantra spouted by carriers drivers is to turn into the bomber squads when you see them but if the carrier driver is set on dropping them on you all he has to do is keeping circling you until he has your side and then drop them like 1km to 2km out. You're not going to out turn a plane in a ship and from that close wtf are you supposed to do? You can't get away from it without taking at least one.
Played about 7 days tonight and so far I like it :) the interface is stupidly simple, should have figured it being wargaming and all. Sunk 2 ships my first game so thats a thing and now Im moving on up (or down) the lines. Biggest issues seem to be watching for torpedoes, avoiding torpedoes and accepting that most of your team is going to be comprised if drooling mouth-breathers...just like WoT.
Are you going to review the Bt-7a? the 5th anniversary wot gift tank? it's a pretty awesome little thing, and on EU you just need to play one battle to get it.
The announcer says team X has "taken the lead" when it controls more cap points, not when one team has more points than the other. The only announcement there is "victory is in sight", which occurs at 800 points I believe. Regarding torpedoes and people moving in a straight line, there is the issue of detecting the damn things. You can't really start zig-zag-ing around in you slow turning ship every time a DD is spotted in under 10 miles. I mean you can, but you'll never reach where you want to wanted to go, you'll never shoot your guns (turrets rotation speed) and you'll probably "land" on every piece of land in your way. As for battleships, they're currently good as target practice for ... well everything in the game. A cruiser will pepper you with HE until every bolt in your ship is burning. Anything armed with torpedoes will look at you as a big experience boost waiting to be collected. Enjoy.
Hey Mister Jingles, would you be so kind to make a short instruction video on how to use the aiming for the torpedos? or at least mention it somewhere in on of your video's about WoW ;) I think they shoule let you make al the instruction video's. Your voice would be perfect for that;)
Any idea when the new patch is coming out Jingles? I personally think that battleships are fun to play even with the current accuracy. My favourite class is still the cruiser class. Any chance to get that replay contest?
I only have one Battleship unlocked, the USS South Carolina, I only use it on occasion because on the gun accuracy. One pair of guns will fire reasonably straight the next two pair of guns will shoot and the shells will splice badly! Really odd.
Title uncleared, I joined the navy and now half of my body is stuck inside the ship and the other is outside the ship. om the bright side I get to see the world and random fish :P
After watching your last video about Isokaze I started to play destroyer's more often and I found that many many people don't (sometimes) even try to evade torpedo's kinda like that Aurora, why that happens?
MrPhil360 World of Sail sail sail and nothing happens. There is no tactics in wow, just sail into enemy or you dont get to shot your guns before its over.
urduib heh. Please always be on the enemy team, I love easy targets WoWs is all about teamplay and trying to predict where you will be needed, but i feel I'm wasting my time telling you this.
JollyRoger4u So im a bad player coz i lost 1 battle out of 99 ? i allways survive and allway kill +3 enemy´s, wauw you must a be a WoW god if you never lose and allways have +4 kills, well good for you. That does´nt change the fact you need to scrap tactics coz otherwise you will not get a kill or a hit. Your own team is your worst enemy, you need to get the kills fast or they will get them. So straight towards enemy and hope your team fails. First game i tried were you in no way NEVER help your own team. If i see enemy smash a "friend" i break of attack so i can get the kills. They need to make a combined kill bonus before anyone can see the benefits of having a team. And players are crap, if you throw smoke and circle to empty all you torpedos, people will actually sail straight through your smoke and straight into your torpedos. Why would anyone sail 50 meters past a destroyer launching its tubes /facepalm.
urduib Dude,If you play as you say you do, you have not won 9/10 games and you certainly haven't had 3 kills in every game. The WoWs player Urduib have 40 games played and a 45% winrate... wanna comment on that?
The most incredible thing to happen to a destroyer is getting a Double Strike with the first salvo of torps shot "into the blue" ... AND First Blood. That happened to me once.
I had a kinda similar game with the Wakatake yesterday, by far my most intense game so far. We win with 7 ships remaining against their 4, I convince a fellow destroyer to stop capping "we have plenty of time left, what could go wrong?". Well, all our team dying and leaving both destroyers against a battleship and cruiser, of course! I wasn't too proud of my decision until we finally killed the batlleship. 11 hits, 6 floods, and 1300+ base xp. And i still do believe low-tier destroyers need a torp rate of fire nerf. It is simply too easy to mindlessly fill the oceans with torps. Can't really tell for higher tier, though.
Oh, Jingles... I just love how I can come home from work and watch a brand new video in the morning. :)
For a lot of people jingles uploads early in the mornin' but for me as soon as I get home from school I can watch his video.
Nothing better to wake up to than World of Warships with The Mighty Jingles
Brilliant timing jingles! Thanks for posting it at 5 40 pm

TheRazgrizBlaze Yeah but torps go straight to the target and from 100m they can't miss like BB's all shots.
3:25 AM time to go to bed jingles posted a video never mind..
Elk army 12:38 im still going strong
Colby johnson once you''ve pulled enough all-nighters you will reach a point where your body will no longer do it anymore, trust me ive been there
Elk army lol ya i was just about to go to bed its 12:49, i took a quick look at Jingles channel, saw this and pretty much sad fuck it ill watch it.
robotics club during final week of building, trust me i know,
photo is old if your basing your response off it
1 am here in Seattle
The best part of this video is listening to you laugh at the torps Jingles, great work
My Grandfather told my Dad and Uncles to join the Navy because "you can get killed in any branch but at least in the Navy you will get hot food and a dry warm place to sleep."
Oh great a video on the morning of my A-Level results, well at least I've got one thing to be happy about :D
***** I hope you get what you wanted man
good luck dude!!! I've got my gcses soon :P
+Josh Teear same aha
***** gl with those results
Lol im in the same boat man, just hope I get through to the interview stages of my reb bull apprenticeship :D
Jingles fires torpedoes, plays a load of games, logs off, goes to sleep, logs back on in the morning: "enemy ships killed".
3:45 "Do you think those torpedoes are going to hit the target?"
That's a sucker's bet Jingles right there XD
My uncle Fred was a CPO in Her Majesty's Royal Navy for 20 years. His take on the recruitment advert was 'Join the Navy, see the world and clean it'
Well Jingles what you fail to realize is that torpedos doesn't get spotted for the enemy player until they are about 2-4km away.

I think "Join the Navy, See the World!" should be a series like Random Acts of Violence.

mfk12340 Its because of their computer specs, I know this because I might as well be running a toaster... 8 Year old PC and a $25 Graphics Card.
mfk12340 That's true, I'm usually 10-30 seconds late for each game. Hopefully it improves during beta.
mfk12340 I would agree except once he was in the game he was still being as much use as tits on a fish.
Grievous 1 I have an I5 4690K and a GTX 760 and mine still occasionally takes ages to load D:

That evil laughter all along...Keep that going and you might(y) become the evil villain in the next James Bond movies :P
Oooh! A new Jingles vid. Loved your reaction to Rita's attempt at WoW. Great stuff as always.
I cant help laughing every time he says "rear admiral" especially now that Rita lives with him xD
As if receiving news of getting into university wasn't good enough, now there's a Jingles video!
His little cackle is so awesome. makes me smile every day. favourite one, " Do I have torpedoes on this side? I think I do! Heh heh heh!"
I never thought I would play a video without watching it just to hear a man's voice. You've got a strange effect on me, Jingles.
It's sad when Jingles is posting videos in his morning and I'm realizing I haven't gone to bed yet...
Actually Jingles I joined the US Navy a couple months ago I ship out to basic training August 24th I'm excited!

Trifler500 sadly it looks that way.
that 3km accuracy fix/buff is just pointless :(

At least they gave BB a buff. Better than nothing anyway. How to know u're gonna have a good day? Wake up early and play BB then see how the salvoes hit :D just jk

Thanks to you I noticed that bloody grey strip that tells you where to aim your torpedos. THIS WILL SURELY HELP MY RESULTS :D:D:D
i learned alot from your videos Mighty Jingles keep up the good work, but i always forget " dont drive in a straight line" :P hahaha

Melon-chan gets a new gadget. Defensive AA fire. She must be extremely happy!
You're right about the St. Louis being a dangerous ship. I once sunk a Kongo in the St. Louis.
you're getting better at this
LOL! I hope more people do that to give you easy torpedo kills. It's so entertaining.
Your evil laugh is deceptively intoxicating
That Nicholas Jingles was complaining about probably was suffering from the connection/load time bug that's been plaguing WoWS since 0.4.0.

Paul, the Yubari was a AA DD/CL already. Haven't played with new skill yet...
Jingels Laugh ist soo awesome :D! I love it !
Can we hear more of your old navy stories? Please captain jingles, sir?
Battleships: Shoot your guns, and your shots come out at 45 degrees.
join the navy they said. see the the world they said.. here i am pealing damn potato's for the damn navy. 😃
OH BOY IT'S 3 AM, I GOT MY CRABBY PATTY AND MY JINGLES!!!
You know Jingles there is a thing other than "Blind Luck" with guns that turn slowly,
its called pre-aiming and locking your guns based on the side of you ship you anticipate targeting enemies from.
If you plan to fight as a USN CL, C is good hull.)
love your destroyer replays.
Hey jingles love your videos dude, how do we send in replays for you to look at? Thanks.
@The Mighty Jingles, nice Phoenix match, but you really should check out the replay I sent you of the Phoenix... 173,890 damage done! I sent it on Aug 9, subject Epic Warships Carry 3275 base XP in Phoenix. I did damage exceeding 52% of enemy's total HP pool, and the end is a 1v3 victory against 1 CV, 1 DD and 1 BB.
ethan micah Bench I just noticed that DezGames reviewed my replay!
ethan micah Bench
WOW! Would be nice to see that one.
"Swiggity swooty, gonna git me some carrier booty!"
Awesome vid! Really excited for the Phoenix and Omaha.
I have just unlocked the cleveland, but I got to say I love the omaha, it was my fave ship :-), awesome battles getting 3k and carrying the team :-)
Test servers kicks off around 17:30 GMT I think?
It's even funnier when, like happened to me in a match today, both a Phoenix and an Omaha allow you to torpedo them, under a minute apart, in sight of each other, while you are sailing an Omaha yourself...
One of these days Jingles I hope I get a game against you as a battleship. Show you what a conscious captain can do against your silly torpedoes.
Jingles that Nicholas in the second replay might have been stuck in a loading screen for the first minute of the game.
"join the navy, see the world." Well, 70% of the world is COVERED IN WATER.
I wish it was easier to see the location of smoke screens, especially when you are in one. At 8:40, I would have never realized that the Chester was in smoke.
You have some kind of magnet on your torpedo because when I fire at the battleship in the game at TIER 3 they swerve without me being detected by anyone.
is it better to turn into the torps or turn away from them to evade them? :)
Jingles,
Do you have any suggestions as to how not to be hit by these super close manual torpedo bomber drops.
Still haven't played this yet...I really need to try it out. The aiming looks odd though, is it a steep a learning curve as it seems?
Well that explains a lot of the stuff I see in replay videos then lol. Ok, cool, I'll check it out.
That was actually my next question, very cool. Thanks much.
Jingles what do you think of the new bt-7 artillery in world of tanks?
Are you going to review the Bt-7a? the 5th anniversary wot gift tank? it's a pretty awesome little thing, and on EU you just need to play one battle to get it.
"Before you start choking on your cornflakes" - Jingles 2015
your laugh is the best :D
Jingles what do you think about a self destruction button for the torpedos i case you fire of a bad salvo?
Enjoy.
Hey Mister Jingles, would you be so kind to make a short instruction video on how to use the aiming for the torpedos? or at least mention it somewhere in on of your video's about WoW ;)
I think they shoule let you make al the instruction video's. Your voice would be perfect for that;)
We need a "Which is nice" MEME. please make this happen, and to the person who does it i love you.
the Yubari had the DF ability in closed beta, I had it at the time, idk why they took it out anyway
Any idea when the new patch is coming out Jingles? I personally think that battleships are fun to play even with the current accuracy. My favourite class is still the cruiser class.
Any chance to get that replay contest?
with battleships i was hoping that you could use HE shells to use against torps in the water or have your secondary battery's to target them.
I'm wondering if the Nicholas was suffering from a delayed load-in. It happens quite often.
After watching your last video about Isokaze I started to play destroyer's more often and I found that many many people don't (sometimes) even try to evade torpedo's kinda like that Aurora, why that happens?
I never had an issue with my guns not pointing the right way, because I always preempted my next target and readied my turrets.
Where do u keep finding sll these ppl that sail in straight lines?
The Mighty Jingles That's what they told me to Jingles. What they don't tell you is 70% of the world is water, and Bahrian is their favorite port.
MrPhil360 World of Sail sail sail and nothing happens. There is no tactics in wow, just sail into enemy or you dont get to shot your guns before its over.
urduib heh. Please always be on the enemy team, I love easy targets
WoWs is all about teamplay and trying to predict where you will be needed, but i feel I'm wasting my time telling you this.
Why would anyone sail 50 meters past a destroyer launching its tubes /facepalm.
urduib
Dude,If you play as you say you do, you have not won 9/10 games and you certainly haven't had 3 kills in every game.
The WoWs player Urduib have 40 games played and a 45% winrate... wanna comment on that?
JollyRoger4u bad memory :)
The most incredible thing to happen to a destroyer is getting a Double Strike with the first salvo of torps shot "into the blue" ... AND First Blood. That happened to me once.
Another good one! I love to watch Your Videos.
Can't really tell for higher tier, though.
lol Jingles you have a real villain sounding evil laugh :))
