I can't believe I haven't seen your videos in my YT suggestions til now. I'm very happy that I am. Better late than never. I'm a bass player as well. Albeit disabled and therefore 98% retired. LOL! I really enjoy your videos. You are very talented snd have awesome tone! Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Todd, nice to read these kind lines. Take care, DG
It's tuned down a half step,no biggie, sounds great just threw me off when began playing along! It just kinda shocked me when I didn't notice right off the bat, I usually pick up on something like that quickly. I believe the cover that Testament did was tuned down also, but not sure, it's a great cover, by the way, they did it justice, and respectfully I might add
May I half of yoyr talent, bro? Effin awesome! !...fantastic graffix on your shirt when H started the first solo, then Dave, with the seldom seen Les Paul , nailed the 2nd...awesome...
The beast is reborn. Once again thank you mister Gerome ( no idea how to get those things above the E and the O in you name, I apologize for that )however my poor grammar aside, your a great bassist, wish the albums had the bass so high in the mix.

Thank you ;) And you need to switch your keyboard to French or Canadian-French to get the accents. ^^ DG
You may have already done this and if so I apologize for my ignorance, but it would be wonderful if you could do a video talking about your rig and bass setup. Your ability to get the Maiden tone is very impressive. When I get the treble correct, all the bass drops out. I would greatly appreciate a video on this. As always, much love and appreciation for your work.

Hello John. Thanks for your comment and request. I'll think about it. Meanwhile, you can visit my website where my gear is displayed and where you can purchase it by clicking on the links. www.didiergerome.com/my-gear
I've heard most of your Maiden covers, and all of them are fantastic. I have also watched your instruction videos on how to play like Steve Harris, and was inspired right away. Now I am practising real hard on The Trooper, Aces High, and Phantom of the Opera. It's getting better every minute, but sometimes it is dufficult to keep the galloping going for a whole song. Especially when it comes to the Trooper. At the end of this one my fingers often get stiff, and I have to struggle to get through. Does that happen to you sometimes or have you found the teqnique which makes your fingers relax no matter what? And: which Maiden song, if any, do you find the most challenging to play? Thank you for your answer😊
6 ปีที่แล้ว +3
Thanks a lot. I'm glad you like my covers. Galloping for a whole song is sometimes challenging, especially on stage when the drummer accelerates (drummers' habit lol). My technique is to stretch my arm as much as possible while playing. You so need to have your bass low enough to just have to lift your right shoulder to do so. It helps you finish the song. And between songs, Aïkido wrist stretching techniques are also very efficient. Remember the more your arm is bent the slower your playing, for you need all the energy straight to the fingers with your arm as straight as possible. To know if your bass is rightfully placed, you could play naked on stage without being arrested haha ;) Take care mate ;)
You mean like he is not hitting the Metal Frets ? If you want no unwant Noises you gotta hit em almost. I don´t know how he is playing the Octave Powerchords below the 12th Fret. Seems impossible for me 🤷♂. But everything is impossible until you can do it anyways. I can play Running Free since Yesterday. Worked my Butt off with this Song and it is one of Maidens easier Songs.
@ Sounds very good tuned down like this, I will play it tuned down from now on. Wait a minute, is it also lower in tempo? The last slide down on guitars in the song makes me thing the tempo is also reduced. Can you clarify why this was done? It sounds very interesting and novel. The usual reason people loathe playing in Iron Maiden cover bands is because its fast and the vocals are high pitch. Both can be alleviated a little bit by just lowering tempo and key, and I could have an Iron Maiden cover band soon. What do you think?
It’s that three finger gallop technique. I could never quite get it myself after years and years of practice. This guy pulled it off flawlessly. Bravo!
You could make $100,000 a year just going to music stores and playing that quietly in the background. They will sell at least 10 of those bases a day, priced no option.🙂👍
Watch him do mariner as well. That’s also on his TH-cam channel. It is 100% flawless 👍 probably one of the most difficult bass songs in metal that you can play correctly
Great cover! What kind of equipment do you use to get the Steve Harris sound? Also, how do you set your EQ?
8 ปีที่แล้ว +1
Márlon Allan Lorencetti HEY. thanks for the compliment. My sound is directly produced with my bass on logic pro x with plugins : Logic EQ & Waves C1 comp.. that's it ! But the sound is mainly obtained with his special finger touch that I learned ;)
I think it sounds better in Eb, but if you prefer the E version and you're on desktop, using the custom speed setting 1.05x will make it close to E. Keep in mind that the pitch shift only works for .95 or 1.05 tho
Man why did you play on G# instead of A? Could be the best steve cover ever, still you rock \m/
7 ปีที่แล้ว
Thank you ! I know it's a shame the whole song is in G#... Because I sillily didn't pay attention to the actual frequency of the orignal file of the song i got from the Internet. I simply tuned my bass on it ! I know it's a bit awkward and I avoided the same mistake on my subsequent vids. Sorry about that... Thanks for the warmth of your words anyway. I hope you'll watch my other vids. Up the Iron mate !
Hey, here is my 2015 cover: th-cam.com/video/Covj_PnWK1g/w-d-xo.html And a medley of various Iron Maiden tricky parts: th-cam.com/video/MyHcex1a2wU/w-d-xo.html Take care. DG
Imagine being Steve Harris’ wife! 😳
Lol, the first girl he fingered died !
OH MY GOD!!😂 That's hilarious and dirty😂
Damn that's both dirty and awesome
Whata trashtalk 😆

I never realized how good the bass line was on this song until I saw this cover.
Cheers ! I think Harris is much more creative when he's not the author of the song...
Brilliant work, mate🤘
I can't imagine how hard it is to play? Great work, mate🤘
Thanks a lot 🥳
Very nice! Powerslave was my first concert. It is by far my favorite album.
The bridge/solo section is so damn fine. That mix of nice little melodies, then fast forward and so on is just brilliant.
Absolute brilliant video work! I love your Maiden videos mate. Keep em coming! Up the Irons from Ireland!!
My favorite Maiden bass song. Very well played.
Cheers ;)

My pleasure ! Thank you ;)
I never thought the bassline would be that layered. Amazing job man!
Thanks ;)
Brilliant, great sense of time without becoming robotic. And no cutting corners!
Thanks 👋
My favorite part from 2:55 ! The coolest bass melody i have ever heard (havent noticed there is guitar solo going as well until recently :D)

Didier GÉRÔME Thanks a lot for your advice.
How you touch whith the fingers freetless like this in this time ???
I'd be happy to answer your question if I could understand it.

Nice playing man and many thanks for the lesson!!
Anytime ;)
exellent, you are steve Harris's prodigy.
muy bueno joder
Gracias ;)
superb cover mate
Great thanx you Gerome, but why you are a half tone down ??
i knew something was off
Probably to avoid a copyright strike
No, he’s not. He’s in perfect tune! What are you talking about?
@@chrisk920
I believe he’s referring to the track as a whole.
Its not right just watch Steve playing it live.
Excellent playing 👍🏼 Just like Steve
One of your best performances. Congrats from Brazil 😎
Cheers ;)
Fantastic!!
Cheers mate ! ;)
Jou play it in A like the original but it comes out half a note lower. Why that?
Dunno. I stuck to the file I got and it might have been keyed down.
Great work again, Didi!
Cheers ;)
Dude, you even got the bass. Whoa.
Cheers ;)
Best bass cover
Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any 'easier' song for a begginer bass player???
Wasted Years
@ Thanks brother!!!!
Balls to the wall was my first song, but Sweating Bullets is cool too
Running Free is not too bad.....just those few triplet and octave runs......
OMG sir you are twain brother of steap heris ..
great playing!
good job man ! ;-)
Un pur régal.Merci
Mon plaisir ;)
Is the song down half a step for this? It’s usually in A/E/B minor but it sounds like everything is tuned down 1/2 step or maybe even a whole step
Yes I know, I'm sorry for this...
You can have the melodic part in tune here: th-cam.com/video/MyHcex1a2wU/w-d-xo.html

It’s that three finger gallop technique. I could never quite get it myself after years and years of practice. This guy pulled it off flawlessly. Bravo!
@@chrisk920 Steve Harris only plays with two fingers😜 He has said that many times🤘🤘
Me parece, que está medio tono abajorespecto al natural, si no me equivoco
Si ;)
@ de todas maneras, gran cover
Perfect!
Whaou 👌♥️ Excellent
Merci beaucoup 🤩
what bass is that ?
Steve Harris's signature model.
You could make $100,000 a year just going to music stores and playing that quietly in the background. They will sell at least 10 of those bases a day, priced no option.🙂👍
Putain!!!!!Quel travail......Remarquable!!!!!!!. Merci. Continue c'est top mon ami....
Merci à toi ;)
Perfect cover mate! I mostly play guitar but when I grab a bass is this one or The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. Great work!
Cheers ;)

HELLO DG, thanks for lessons...!!!
You're welcome. Speaking of lessons, you'll find more thorough ones here: th-cam.com/video/_QlThRDePK8/w-d-xo.html
Did Steve Harris have a black Fender P in the video Wrathchild?
Possible, he used many... even jazz basses in the early days...
Yeah!!
Ac/dc could make 15 albums out of this
Indeed !
@ i'm glad we share opinion.You are THE master.Cheers!
Nah
Ancien bassiste, il me semble que ce morceau est relativement abordable, tout comme "wasted years" sur l' album Somewhere in Time.
Bonjour, sur le plan de l'endurance effectivement, après c'est une question de feeling. Bien à vous. DG
Slave of the power of,,,,,,,,,,,,Didier, s cover
Oh nice! I appreciate it ;) My pleasure mate!
Talvez o lp o disco that I loved more ?
Mortal como tocas y suena ese bajo
Merci ! Check my next videos, I'll talk about galloping. Hit the bell ;)
Cheers mate !
ok friend greetings from argentina, and live the heavy metal
How do you get bass tone like that?
Hey. It's simple: 1) my fingers 2) The bass 3) The strings and action, full stop !
No effects except the usual: little EQ and Comp on Logic.
Which is your favourite Maiden bass line??
Hey, I have several... My favourite to play are Invaders, 22 acacia ave, losfer words, moonchild..
Mariner, it’s like marinara sauce. It’s got everything in it for a bass player.!!!!
Wow! I gotta find me a bass player like that
Cheers mate! Where do you live ?
@ cheers mate! I live in Texas- where do you live?
GREAT
That THUMB 👍🏽 doesn't have anchor ⚓. Driving me nuts 😂😂😂
Sounds like youre in Eb here still awesome though
Cheers, yup I detuned the song, sorry.

WOUAHOU !
(comme d'hab', en fait...)
Bravo eccezionale 👏👏👏
Why did you slow the original track just curious I’m not doubting your talent as a bassist
Hey, I didn't, I just detuned it.
And why, damn, I just don't know !
DG

Up the Iron mate !
Why is the tempo a little slow?
The tempo is original, but the piece is played a half tone below the original.
super toucher super son
Merci ;)
What strings are you ussing? Seems not to be as thick as the SH signature rotosound
Hey, no they're not, thanks God, I can't play on Steve's lift cables ;)
I use 45-105 roundwound steel strings (not nickel).
Nice sound, anyway. Can you tell me the brand?
Hello Didier, super cover,c'est un choix de ta part de le jouer en bémol?Ce qui n'enleve rien à la super prestation
Hey Olivier, merci. Non c'est une erreur d'accord de Logic mais une fois qu'il était trop tard.
men u rock playing the bass\m/ , should try revelations song
Thanks, I play Revelations with my band but not in a cover yet. Maybe soon ;)
Cheers for the compliment mate !
