Thinking of getting one for the coast 2 coast in April, had a cheap low hydro my son took this year, I had tarp luckily to make an outer skin for the heavy rain
@@weederfish9254 this is a great tent, perfect for what you’d be doing i think, since it’s low to the ground the wind just goes over the top of it plus it’s got a good HH for the rain. Easily pitched which leads to its only downside which isn’t a major but it’s an inner pitch first which will cause some bother if pitching in the rain. Cheers for watching, I hope it’s helped in some way 👍
@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors been looking at the vango blade 200 for the extra room as there'll be me, my wife and our cocker and kit, there was another vango but can't remember name
@ just at a glance at the vango range (I’m not sure on sizes) but with two adults and a dog you’d be looking the Orion 200 or Hydra or maybe even a three person tent to allow room for kit. There is a long list of choice out there. I have a Robens pioneer 2ex and I think it could be perfect for your needs. Plenty of room with a large porch/vestibule area for kit 👍, I hope this helps.
Great tent. I bought mine over a year ago and yet to use it!! My daughter ended up borrowing it a few times and liked it so much she had it off me. So i got myself Bobcat. Now she's seen that she wants to swap Phoxx 2 FOR Bobcat...So I might finally get to use it!!
😂 😂 Brilliant, I hope you get to use one of them 😂. I really like the Phoxx but the more i see if the bobcat it looks a cracking tent. Thank you for watching 👍
I'm not sure why you'd called this a beginners tent? This is a pretty hardcore little shelter, for the UK at least! It punches way way above it's weight, and imo out performs tents costing a hell of a lot more money! Unfortunately, what happens in many hobbies is that as people become more 'experienced', they automatically think they need more expensive kit, something to show off with, makes them feel special, more 'professional'! 🤣 Next week I'm off to ride a very challenging 400km ancient trail through the heart of Wales! I won't be taking a Terra Nova, MSR or a Hilleberg etc, I'll be taking a Phoxx 2! 😉
@@mokotramp hi, thank you for watching and commenting. I think the main reason I called it a tent for beginners is the financial reason, it was the tent that got me started into wildcamping as a beginner (obviously). A hundred pound tent with such a great reputation is hard to come by, so as a beginner and looking a tent to get the confidence up out on the mountains or wherever your travels may be this is a perfect tent for a beginner instead of going out and spending what I would deem silly money on a “big” brand. Now I’m a big believer in horses for courses and the phoxx 2 has it’s course, now this is down to just my personal opinion, I own three tents and all have their own courses again nothing over £180 which I would call slightly over budget but they have their different types of purposes. What a great trek that you have planned, obviously a multi day adventure it is. This is something I’d love to do but financially probably couldn’t do. Would this fall into the category of making you feel special, showing off or more “professional”. I’m sure you know yourself the phoxx2 will hold up to the challenge of your trek, I hope you have a great time 👍.
I’ve used it a few times for wild camping I do only use it to sleep in as there’s not a great deal of headroom but the low profile is good to be discreet.
Hi, yea perfect for a stealthy camp, not much head room like you say but I find that ok because some times I wouldn’t be in the tent that much. Thanks for the messages it’s very much appreciated 👍
Just got this tent after waiting for ages and using my Oex jackal 3…..what is the size of ground sheet and where did you buy it from in the Uk ..? It’s a sub from me fella..👊👊🇬🇧👍
Hi, thank you for watching and the sub, it’s very much appreciated 👍. I was just using a lanshan 2 ground sheet, it’s a bit big for this tent but the size is 210x110 cm. I love the phoxx tent, so easily pitched and decent room for the gear. How did you find the Jackel?
I guess it would just about accommodate two people very snuggly I’d share it with my wife or my dog but not with a mate. I think for the price it’s unbeatable it’s a bit heavier than some but not particularly heavy at about 2.2 kg

@@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors Why would going bike packing to Wales make me feel more professional? 🤦🏻♂️
Make some time to do, you're only here once!

It’s a great we tent indeed as you say definitely not a two man tent.
Definitely not Thomas. But a great wee tent, packs a punch and very reliable. I don’t think it gets the credit it deserves mate 👍
No, it definetley doesn’t.
