Watching this video brought tears of joy to my eyes. I was at the Fillmore when the Brothers recorded the Live at Fillmore album and saw the Brothers when Duane was still alive two more times. I LOVE THIS BAND and the Allman Betts Band do such a good job that Duane; Gregg; and Dickey; Butch; Jaimoe; Berry and all the other players that came latter should all be proud of how well the ALLMAN BETTS Band sounds. The ALLMAN BETTS BAND are my hope for the future of rock music. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! Thank you.

Launching pad is right - when they can WRITE AND PLAY their own music with an increase in new, interesting themes and ideas, then it's on. Otherwise, they're 'just a good band covering half-century old music. I feel the same way about D&C - Mayer's playing GREAT there, but he and Weir need to WRITE AN ALBUM.

I saw them do this in the Cumberland Caverns earlier this year and will see them in Frankfort next week. This is a legitimate band, not a novelty act. They want to be their own selves while paying respect to their father's legacies and they find the perfect blend playing live. Having said that, this was the highlight of the show. I couldn't stop grinning like a fool. It was an audio time machine .

spoke too soon. who's the wailin' , fine organist stealing Betts' thunder? The whole band's tight as hell. I know, I know. Duane's got a ways to go before he can carry his dad's guitar strap. He'll get there if he can pick up a little more fire along the way. And the first soloist (Stretcher? Somebody tell me) is already a monster who plays a mean slide too. Looking forward to lots more. Aren't you?

@@rrb-live Thanks much for the info. Also writing to choke back the remark I made about Duane having a ways to go to catch Dickey. I went back and listened to Duane's solo on Liz Reed. And then I listened some more and became astonished over Duane's work. You get to really hear him when you begin to follow Duane's melodic journey that is his Liz Reed; what stands out is how well he establishes an underpinning of the varied rhythms that the song suggests while improvising a host of the song's inventive harmonies atop it. Duane's is a performance of skill and heart after all -- and hat's off to him for developing a style a part of but not apart of Dickey's.

They do write original songs. They do a fine job of it. They also do a fine job of covering the song's their fathers created. Duane Betts has spent time in bands that play original songs. I saw Oakley when he was 16 or 17. The Band was Bloodline. A very you Joe Bonamassa, Waylon Krieger and Miles Davis son on drums. They are not riding on the coattails of their Father's. They are carrying the torch. The original tunes are legitimate songs that have ABB influences and no more than that. Every musician has influences. These guy's are legit. So is Lucas Nelson. Two examples of the next generation who could have easily had a career cashing in on a name. Neither of them are. Probably have more pressure than I could imagine proving that they're not.
