Tempo to me feel like control of the situation, if you have more resources and time then your opp. I.e countering an opponent game winning spell etc...
That is the "feeling" but what I think this video really does is quantify and measure the abstract concept- that way it's more than a feeling and you can make game decisions based on a calculated metric!

That's basically what you get with tempo. You stay ahead of your opponent, control the board state...
