I played Lost Odyssey for the first time this year, but in January/February. I really enjoy it. I agree one of the weak points is the characters and "main plot" (the memories were on a whole other level). I loved Jensen though, once I got used to him; made me laugh way too much -- he's my favourite character. I liked Sarah's look, but found her boring. Didn't find Ming's outfit too jarring, I've seen a lot worse. I enjoyed the gameplay a lot, and didn't mind at all not being able to over-level as I'm usually careful staying "normal-leveled" so the games keep having some challenge to them. The other party members you don't use much are still useful to learn skills from them (and have their own uses). I actually used Cooke a lot as she was a great healer/support, until the immortals become much better but that's only late game. It's true it's a shame Mistwalker stopped making "real games" (non-mobile) after The Last Story (which is their best game imo). Also, btw, you can call Sakaguchi "Final Fantasy's creator".
I think I may have used Mack for learning skills since he had some good defensive skills. Sounds like I missed some good support by benching Cooke! I’m not familiar with The Last Story. What system was that for?
You may want to check out the Shadow Hearts games on PS2 if you haven't played them before. The first game is one of my favorites despite its relative simplicity in mechanics, and as a horror-themed alternate history JRPG set in the 1910s, it's very unique. Some of the staff that worked on these games went on to work on Lost Odyssey as well.
What happened to Seth is a sad story… being trapped in a cave by her I think pirate friends or something and she was tied to a rock and the cave was sealed and she was trapped I think for a hundred years or more and she went though a lot in that cave mentally…sad story indeed
Thanks for the quick rundown. I downloaded the game today without any prior knowledge of it. Did not even know it was a JRPG... But let's hope it will be an enjoyable experience!
9:27 HEAVY SPOILERS IN MY COMMENT: It's especially hilarious when you realize Lirum had to save her own kids, THREE TIMES, from beyond the grave, because her parents truly just suck at parenting. The worse one is when Kaim and Sarah literally left the grandkids without saying a goddamn word in Gohtza, DIDN'T EVEN TELL THE OTHER ADULTS "hey, help watch our grandkids all right?" No, they just RUN OFF together without a single thought about their grandkids. And then what happens? Grandkids steal a goddamn train! Poor Lirum, is watching from the afterlife, prolly realizing she might not have survived till adulthood being raised by Kaim and Sarah. Like, I think it's implied Sarah never settled down with ANYONE before Kaim, so she could be a new mom, and she lost her memories so whatever. Kaim has no excuse, he is lliterally stated to have married and raised children multiple times throughout his life. How is he this bad with keeping his own grandchildren safe!?
I played this in 2007 and replayed it again in 2024 on the Xbox One S. Kaim is the most bland, stick in the mud, no-fun-allowed MC ever. Seth and Jansen are a great comedy duo. Even Gongora has some unintentionaly funny moments.
Thanks for watching! I typically include a screenshot of my play time but forgot to include it in the video. You can see all the achievements I unlocked, and the ones I missed, over on TrueAchievements: www.trueachievements.com/gamer/TheTheoLogan
I would love to be able to replay this game, I really wish it had seen a re-release on PlayStation 4 or 5. Are there any turn-based JRPGs playable on PS4/5 with similar vibes and art style?
The game that immediately comes to mind is Final Fantasy X. Maybe FF12 also, but that’s not technically turn based. The Last Remnant looks similar but I’m not sure how the game is; I have yet to play it myself.
An awesome game but it’s such a long game that I only replayed it afew times where I wanted to play it more then that lmfao new consoles came out and all that but the game is just awesome
11:05 Ugh I absolutely hated that mechanic lol I’d want to farm exp but the game would just say “nope your to strong now so no exp for you!” Lmfao sucks…but the few negatives in the game is made up for by everything else in the game…he likes only 3 characters but idk I liked them all lol all of them were interesting and I felt for them all but jensen was the one I didn’t like much because he’s an adult but as stupid as a child lol
highly highly underrated game
The game has alway intrigued me. Damnit. I’m gonna buy it !
Lost Odyssey, my dream RPG of the 360. The 1000 Years storytelling is such a great feature.
I wouldn't say it's a Final Fantasy ripoff. It's a game that showcases what Hironobu Sakaguchi could make if he wasn't involved with Square.
Bingo
@The Reformed Gamers can't rip-off a game he created.. now this game is what FFXIII should of been.
He literally took a whole final fantasy team with him. Every final fantasy after from square is a rip off of Sakagucci
The game absolutely reeks of Final Fantasy VI and I mean that in the best way possible. FANTASTIC.

Its the only game exclusive to the xbox I want to play, but don't want to buy xbox just to play it
Game needs a next gen and/or PC port.

@@TheTheoLogan898 Thanks! I'll have to give X a try soon.
I bought this game a few months ago, but I’ve not been playing it if great I bet
I want to play Lost Odyssey does it come with 4 disc?
I thought it was 3 discs but it may be 4. I played it digitally on Xbox Series S.
It is a 4-disc game.
@@Kilmarro I found it :)

Sold at FF9. where do I get this
It may still be on the Xbox store for download. If you want a physical copy, there’s several places online selling used copies.
I quit my first job to play this game. haha
This is a correction that nobody but me cares about so carry on with the good work but Blue Dragon came first
the only bad part about this game was the soft level cap
I'm sad there's no "Persona" reference in the thumbnail.
There is in the video 😏

Mack and Cooke had more common sense than Jensen at times lol
